It would be a good way to give us a bit of background history on each companion, especially if (for some unknown reason) they aren't planning on having the companions talk much about their past in-game.

Be prepared though, regardless of what part he plays in DA3 we're still gonna get some degree of hate.
There will be people coming into the thread being smug and rude because we didn't get our wish of Cullen as a companion and then directly attacking his fans because "how can you like him when he did this/that/etc, you're all a bunch of psycho fangirls". OR there will be people attacking us from all corners because "the devs pandered to the fangirls and made Cullen a companion/LI" etc.

Either way we're screwed, so let's just hope that we get him as a companion/LI so that it'll be worth the hassle lol.

For that, I say "Bring it." At least we'll have something worthwhile or can at least rest easy, knowing he wasn't villified. :D If Cullen is a companion and or LI, I ain't gonna care!

LOL Good point. I suppose it could get worse than now... but not by much. Pfft. As it is, it's already pretty ridiculous that we fear mentioning his name anywhere outside this thread.

No doubt there will be a short story or inccident in-game that will encourage a *certain* BSN individual to come in here, be a sarcastic **** and then post it on his Tumblr for us to be ridiculed. <_<

LOL I always imagine us being documented and ridiculed somewhere already! Whatever. :alien:

That would be cool if they did the companion short stories again. It was a nice touch with DA2.

Did they do it with all the companions for DA2? I know they did one for Anders, just to explain how Justice ended up merging with him.

Most of them. I know I've read one for Fenris, Anders, Sebastian, Varric... Not immediately recalling the others.

edit: Yeah they all have them. http://dragonage.bio...acters/merrill/

LOL and looking again, I have read them all. Huh. Funny the others didn't stick with me. Although, seeing how Aveline met Wesley was nice.

Oh! Awesome! I totally didn't know that!

There we go then, maybe we'll get them again. I'd love to see them in comic form though so that there's some pictures to go with it, plus it would probably be quicker for them to churn out from the writers perspective.

Just read Aveline's, I love how she inadvertently made a smutty comment LOL!

BLAAARG! I want to finish chapter 3 already! But I haven't gotten to the "point" yet. It's already 6,000+ words! But the point is coming up and it's sooo much dialogue and exposition that I'm kind of daunted by it. =/ If I post what I have, it's just 6,000+ words of filler. But it's all necessary to expand the story so it's not the Cullen and Hawke show. I want readers to really feel there are other people involved here. *grumble*

Maybe we should have our own little contest / drinking game once the game comes out where you get a point for every correct random theory or idea someone here has had, they get a point. We should at least keep a tally just for kicks.

One of us had to have hit on something at some point. It's that infinite number of monkeys coming up with Shakespeare idea. Us being the monkeys! LOL

That's true. It's like DG said: "A broken clock is always right twice a day".

Exactly! lol

I'm just excited that we'll finally get to see something next month. I hope it's something meaty that will tie us over for a while. Feels like we've been walking the Sahara for a year now.

I just noticed something Cullen says in DA2: "I still have nightmare of Uldred's depravities".

I wonder if he still suffers with those nightmare 10+ years on, and if what he witnessed happen to Meredith affected him negatively in some way? I mean, it must have been pretty creepy to watch lol.

If it wasn't for that survey leak (real or not) this place would've been dead on it's arse months ago. Hopefully, if they're still aiming for a Fall release the wait shouldn't be too hard.

I wonder if maybe they'll give us the full sha-bang at E3 and say "there you go, here are all the details you'll need to make an informed decision on whether DA3 is for you, have fun!" Or if they'll give us a small little taster and then continue to slowly reveal little bits and pieces over the next few months until it ships. I'm not sure which I'd prefer really, but I hope they don't just reveal the bare minimum and then keep us in the dark until the last two weeks before it hits the shops.

Speaking of Mass Effect, didn't they do a reveal of ME3 at E3 two years ago? Does anyone remember if they revealed much, or just gave us a trailer?

He says that early on (I think) when Hawke is trying to defend mages. Forget which quest (or if it's just in talking with him in the Gallows).

I feel it would be a mighty leap in character to have Cullen ever be pro-mage, 100%. He was so ruthlessly tortured by mages that he could never completely trust them, I don't think, not as a whole group. He's like the abused woman who tells everyone you can't trust a man, any man. You may feel and know differently, but you just smile and nod and agree with her because, god, she's been through hell and back, and you're not going to be the one to contradict her.

I'd love for it to be a super amazing game trailer with more than just obscure flashes of combat and then maybe reveal one companion to give us speculation fodder. Then in 2 months give us another companion or something. That way we have ample time to debate the hell out of each.... only to find out in the end how off we all were. lol

MMG - your ME chatter doesn't bug me in the least. I played 'most' of ME2 but honestly, I was not into it.... mostly because I suck at shooting. lol

It was when you first encounter him, I'd just never noticed it before.

Yeah, I don't think he'll ever go back to believing that mages aren't dangerous etc, but I think he could get to a stage where he realises that not ALL mages are so weak willed that they would fall prey to demons, but I suspect it will take a lot for him to get to that stage... and would probably involve him taking a trip into the Fade with the protagonist to witness her/him telling a demon to bugger off.

I still wonder how they'd go about having him romance a mage protagonist and how they'd have him reason with himself that it's "ok", but I'm sure it can be done if the writers wanted him to. I also wonder if he himself would fall prey to demons if we took him into the Fade, or if he'd be like Anders and not succumb to it due to his previous experiences and (presumably) strong will. I mean, it would seem kinda odd if in DA3 he fell for a demons tricks in just a few minutes of being there after spending weeks/months in DA:O being tortured by them and managed to stay strong.
