@R2s Muse Sure, make it into a banter. It sounds awesome. I would prefer Cullen tears, but Cullen fans tears sound just as delicious. P.S. I'm not planning to drink it or anything.

It's DG and the Writer's Pit who feast on fan tears!

Brushyourteeth, I first meant to tell you this in private but I don't know how to do it so I'll say this here, and hope you'll forgive me (especially as you seem to not mind analyzing me incorrectly in public).

You come across as extremely belligerent. From your pic to your tone, everything about you says you're on a war path. And frankly, that makes me defensive, and when I do I will sometimes say things I do not mean. I shouldn't have written the "wishful thinking" comment, and I apologize if it offended you, but I still must say I do not know where you got those assertions (and I played the game many times, I'm one of those weirdos who actually loved DA2, and that should be sufficient evidence that I know what it is to be attacked regularly on the forum, and why I seldom frequent it. I also lobbied long long ago for more gay LIs, you can guess how that went).
I certainly did not rebuff every comment with "No. That's not in the game" I only said it once, (and then repeated it when you accused me of being closed minded - which I certainly hope I am not). And I think your attacks on me were less than fair.
That said, I'm still interested in hearing why you think my assessment of Cullen is wrong.

no nooo, brushyourteeth isn't belligerent -- she's kind and her hair is soft and healthy.

Now as long as we're "in public," let's play nice!

Her coat is ever so glossy!

Weeeell, she has always had a thing for shiny pelts... ;):pinched:

lol, true. Seeing as they're likely to reveal the trailer at E3, we may get to see some of the companions. Hopefully, Cullen would be among them.

LOL BBM, I wish I could supply Cullentears. But with angst in his future, I may be able to owe you! ;)

In the meantime, I pay you in this... OMG, I just... I'm beside myself over these. I'll just leave them here. LOL

Ok! So, I made a friend on my travels through the interwebs who'd like to ask a question about Cullen. I figured I should let you guys know first so that you don't think someone has just come in to cause trouble (due to today's little Cullen flame war).

Let me know when you're ready and I'll send CrazyRah in!

Scr0ll, my pleasure! Glad you like it.

Lola, Jeesh, I feel a little bad that you need to warn us to be nice!  Although I suppose we have been burned in the past... <_<

I wouldn't normally but I figured I would today just because that other thread caused a lot of problems.

... That's not to say I think you guys would attack or anything, but I know we're all expecting haters to come in and start causing problems so I figured it would be better to give the heads up.

Which reminds me... For those who haven't chimed in, don't forget the E3 pool questions! Get your guesses in!

I mean, all our fan-girling really is, is just a group of people being passionate about a character that they want implemented into the game. It's no different to the 100+ threads made about wanting isometric combat put back into DA games or wishing for playable races to return.

It's all just people wanting something put into DA3 that they feel would improve on their gaming experience. In our case, we feel that Cullen's inclusion as a companion/LI would improve our experience 10 fold.

LOL I feel like you've just written the thread's mission statement. I may have to save this one to trot it out again at a later date... :bandit:

feels like a good day to do just that.

You know what annoys me about the whole "Cullen didn't do anything to stop the rape in the Gallows" argument? Hawke didn't do anything to stop it either. You'd think, after Alain lets slip that he's been raped we'd get the option to go over there and kick some arse, but what does Hawke do? Sweet FA!

Of course, that's down the the game not giving us the option to do anything about it, but it works both ways. It makes me wonder if Alain's rape dialogue was something that only the player was supposed to hear, like we're getting a glimpse into the treatment he's experienced without anyone else being aware of it.

Alain is a man being sexually abused by another man. Such victims don't often run crying to the authorities.

Pretty sure it was just something the writers let him murmur so that Hawke/we could overhear and know what the situation at the Gallows truly was.

Also, the rape jokes in that thread are making me sick.

Exactly, I'm sure Alain even said himself that Karras/whoever told him to keep his mouth shut (don't quote me on that one though). Cullen is clearly bogged down with a lot of work, he even says himself during that quest where Aveline is supposed to be replaced as Guard Captain by him that it's an extra headache he doesn't need. Given all the work he's already got on his plate there's a good chance that he was completely oblivious to it.

I think it would actually be interesting if Cullen knew how badly the mages were being abused (I don't think it's just Alain) ... he is a good person, so he would have some sort of excuse as to why he didn't, or rather (in his eyes) COULDN'T do anything. Or perhaps he tried to "do what he could." Ultimately, I think most of us would judge him for that. But it would mightily complicate his character, especially as I don't doubt it would place a tremendous amount of guilt on his shoulders.

God he is just such a fascinating character lol

Exactly.

For all we know the case might be that he didn't find out until it was too late and he's been punishing himself ever since. I mean, at the same time as Alain gives his rape speech, if you go over to Cullen he says that he hopes the Starkhaven mages can find some peace within the Gallow's wall (if you didn't let them escape). Those aren't the words of a man who knows that they are being raped and tortured, lol.

Anyway, it is Hawke's fault for not killing that SOB when s/he has the chance lol Dear Alain has NEVER given the rape speech in any of MY playthroughs :P

I always get the "Grace is dead. Thrask is dead. And it's only going to get worse from here..." Or something speech, instead of the rape thing.
