Cullen was probably earning enough to stay a float though, I mean, what's he even gonna spend it on? A pair of chastity pants for every day of the week and a big stick to poke blood mages with?

I like to think he was saving up for our retirement.

Ahem.

I'm not here to grovel for internet cookies (or am I..?), I just learnt that I may have offended you guys and didn't want it left hanging there. I tried to ask in the thread where it happened (the "what's so special about Cullen"-thread, my remark was on page 1 or 2), but it might have been caught in the noise.

I was trying to say that the OP should ask here instead, and that I had a very nice discussion with you guys when I was wondering something about how the fans look at Cullen, but I guess I messed it up somehow and I just don't know how. Was it rude to point him here? Was it something else I said?

Either way I wanted to state for the record that I didn't mean to be disrespectful in any way. I haven't had time to stop by in a while, but I think this is a great, positive thread that it's hard to stay out of even if you aren't a "real" Cullen fan (I don't know if I need him to be a LI yet, but I love his character so far).

I can't speak for everyone, but I wasn't offended at all. I do wish you'd said the encounter had involved more than talking about his looks (because: creepy) but that's really not even a big deal - and it's not your fault that we feel like we have to go around giving evidence of our intelligence all the time.  Posted Image

Thanks for being so concerned about our feelings, though. You'd be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't) by how hard that is to come by nowadays. And you're always welcome here.  Posted Image

I think I remember that thread... Can't say for sure since I'm gone so much. But I do recall a thread where the poster was like "What's the big deal about Cullen?" and I do remember someone telling the OP that if they really wanted to understand our enthusiasm, to come here because we have some well thought out reasons for liking him. For myself I wasn't offended by that commenter. I was offended by the OP and their blind Yesmen who were maligning us as fans and just being generally douchey. So, you're good in my book (as far as I can recall). ^_^

I think you'll find that, while many of us would dearly love a chance to romance Cullen, we're more concerned with his story being done justice. I'd rather not have him at all if they're just going to screw him up.

You're thinking of that OTHER douchey "why Cullen?" thread. Or maybe the one before that. Or maybe the one... Posted Image

So if Cullen turns up in DA3 wearing an outfit similar to the one we've seen in the leaked concept art... I'm going to have a hard time fixating on anything else but "legs. you have legs. did you always have legs?"

Maybe even a honey badger?

Thanks, I'm glad to hear it! I was getting ready to hand in my gallery of Cullen in fur boots, but it would have killed me to do so...

Also, brushyourteeth, I agree that I shouldn't have written that we discussed his relative hotness. I was trying to be funny (everyone knows Cullen's hotness is absolute). Posted Image But I wasn't thinking that people might actually believe you/we talk about nothing else here, I'm starting to realize I've been naive.

I don't think it's really a big deal, but seriously -- your concern shows you to be a friend of all Cullen-friends, and yeah... there are people who think we've spent 1777 pages speculating about what his abs look like, and it's such an irrational notion that no amount of rationality is going to cure it. All we can do is remind them that we're not the dregs of society and move on. Posted Image

For the record, I don't think that most people actually think that. I was even reading through that thread today and the really adamant "why Cullen?!?!" comments are rehashed from the same handful of posters who say the same thing about him and the fans every time the topic comes up. Most people probably find us amusing or disturbing, but not loathsome and pitiable.

And it's not like we never talk about his hotness, because come on. It happens. But I'm really proud to say that the little community of fans on this thread that I've grown to know and love take up at least 2/3 of the space on my mental "least shallow posters of the BSN" list.  Posted Image

It's something of a running joke, bashing on the 'mancers. I guess when you're neglecting your job and family to hang out on an internet forum discussing a game that hasn't even been released yet, it feels good to be able to say "geez, look at those crazy freaks over there..!".

As if we aren't all crazy freaks...

EDIT: I enjoyed that thread though. It made me realize how little time Cullen actually got in DA2, and how differently people fill in the gaps when they interpret his character.

Hopefully they will make up for that by giving him more time in DA3 to help fill in some of those gaps :-) !

Lot of activity whilst I've been in the Land of Nod. Way things are going we'll be celebrating page 2000 before E3!

Does anyone have a link to that interview Gaider had with a fan?

I don't know if sweet is a word I'd use to describe him. Unless maybe he saves and raises homeless kittens and puppies during his off hours or something?

Wow... I'm two pages late, but anyway...

http://dragonage.wik...ia_to_a_Fangirl

She was just paraphrasing and called him reasonable. It's the Thedas UK interview where Gaider calls him "a good man."  He also flat out says Cullen represents the templars who are not rapists and bad guys.
