I guess I've never played as a Male Hawke, so I didn't know it actually was gender specific dialogue. I like the differences in dialogue idea for the sake of a different playthorugh experience. No matter how many times I play the games over and over, I just can't play as a guy. Nor can I play through as all out aggressive to everything all the time. Someday though, someday...motomotogirl wrote...
I actually would prefer gender to not make a difference ... I want the LI to treat my PC the same whether s/he is a guy or a girl.
That was not the case in DA2, which had gender specific dialogue. ANNOYING!!!

You wouldn't want any special scenes for the male x Cullen romance to make it feel like he was actually dating a real person/your protagonist, rather than a generic response for both genders like *insert generic response to generic protagonist here* sort of thing.
No because I don't feel that a person should treat one's love differently based on gender... but it's a totally personal thing. Like to me the only difference would be biological... yet I would be annoyed if Cullen brought up babies with my Fem PC lol People in RL ask me about effing babies, don't bring that crap into my game life! (Not that babies are crap... people asking you about babies though... crap

So I played as a sarcastic male Hawke and absolutely adored him!

Yeah.
Anders: Mentions kids to FemHawke
Merrill: Mentions kids to BroHawke
Fenris: BroHawke asks if Fenris is upset because he just slept with a guy.
Isabela: Only done her romance once, with a girl, so can't remember the difference, but I know for a fact there is a difference.
So it's not the difference itself that bothers me but the dialogue choices that were made. Like why does my BroHawke have to assume that Fenris is homophobic lol And why does Anders mention kids with FemHawke; what if she doesn't want kids? And why not bring up kids with BroHawke? Anders do you have a problem with adoption, pal?! You know there are starving elf children who need solid homes, buddy.

It's a boring answer, but for my first playthrough (and the majority after) I always try to make my protagonist a prettier version of me. I tend to play through as a goody two shoes for the first playthrough, but for Inquisition I will do whatever it takes to nail Cullen in a pretty, lovely, romancy light.Avorous wrote...
Hmm, here's a question that is sort of Cullen related.
Assuming that Cullen is a romancable companion in DA:I, have you thought of what your protaganist is going to be lke when the game comes out? Whether it be personality, apperances, or affiliations? With those in mind, how do you think that Cullen will react, or interact with your character because of those things?
I feel like I just released an essay question. LOL
Haha, me too! Explains why most of my characters in the beginning were redheads. XD And I just love red hair, so a make a hoard of them for the world to fear.
Anyway. My first PT always has a mage as a protagonist. She's usually the goody-two-shoes, and will no doubt make a few wrong decisions along the way. But I have always believed the Circle is necessary, but misused in some ways - so my character may follow that train of thought. If we are indeed an Inquisitor, then she'll take her job very seriously.
Cullen may still be wary of any mage at first, but once he gets to know them and their motives he may warm up a bit.

Definitely a rogue, archer... I will pick a poor/gutter rat/farmboy background if possible. No opinion on mages or templars unless the story forces that (his sister killed by tempalrs or something).
So that will be the first one I play, but I plan to have many of course, male and female, all classes and affiliations.

I have a toddler at home. I do not need one in my game.motomotogirl wrote...

However, I completely swooned when Garrus brought up having kids (in joking) to my Shep.

I just meant like the male x Cullen romance would have an equally romantic scene/whatever but different to the females simply to make it feel more unique for both genders. In the same way that a rivalry romance with him would have a different romance scene to a friendship romance. Just to keep things fresh and make replays worth while etc.

As much as my Hawke loves Anders, she will never have children with him. Justice/Vengence might eat them or something in a fit of rage. I think I just completely ignored that bit of dialogue in the game.motomotogirl wrote...

Oh, I don't mean like Cullen being less affectionate in public because he's shagging a guy, or him holding open doors for a female romance, cos that would seriously ****** me off.

Oh sure, I'd be down for that. Just like I would think a Cullen x mage romance would be different from Cullen x warrior, you know?

@the kid talk- Anders says something to Hawke about kids? I don't even remember that line of dialogue.

I believe Anders brings up having children before the final battle during a friendromance. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.Avorous wrote...
In Origins, my PC was a rogue, then in DA2 she was a mage. This next go around it'll probably be a warrior, most likely a two-handed warrior, and most likely of the Templar affiliation. After that I'll most likely do a mage. There's more, like how I've already decided what her name is going to be and how I'm pretty sure that I'm going to headcanon her being half elf unless Bioware blows that idea out of the water in the first ten minutes. Till then, I'll dream.![]()

I think you're right, something about how their children wouldn't be hunted for what they were or who they loved. It's been awhile

He does? What does he say exactly?
Yeah like Nikki said, basically if Hawke is a woman then Anders talks about how their children won't have to be persecuted because they are mages. If Hawke is a man, Anders talks about how "people like them" (assuming mages here) can love freely without being persecuted.
