Did any of you see that picture of Anders looking rough as hell that they took out of the game? DG said they might use something similar in the future for a different character.

I'm half expecting Cullen to end up looking lyrium addled and rough as hell by the end of DA3 as an adapted version of whatever they were originally planning to do to Anders.

Oh is it? It has been a LONG time since I have played a M!Hawke. I believe that needs to be rectified.

He definitely said it to my male Hawke. I don't play as a female so there's no other way I would have got him to say it. Could be a glitch, maybe? I never took it as him suggesting they have kids anyway.

Huh, no I never saw or heard anything about that. That would be really cool to see though, with both companions and our PC. I always try to change Hawke's appearance after every time jump. Makes it seem like the world is actually progressing a bit more.

I'm probably going to be a black sheep when I say this, but I kinda want Cullen to stay the straight LI. Mainly just to keep with the continuity of his only showing interest in a female Mage PC. Not that I have anything against same sex relations but . . . Ok, I'll explain why.

I think if Bioware is to add same sex relations, they should include the characters as strictly gay or lesbian. I did not like the "make everyone bi" thing in DAII, because it did not make the characters interesting or realistic. Instead, it felt like Bioware was trying to pander to everyone and pleasing only a few. For example, Traynor and Cortez from Mass Effect 3. They were interesting, and it felt nice connecting to Cortez on a platonic level with my FemShep. I didn't romance Traynor, however, because I am a %100 Garrus or Kaidan lover. Mostly Garrus, though.

SOME, however, were exceptions. Like Isabela, and maybe Anders. The bi-sexuality was a part of her character, so it fit. As for Anders . . . I would say there's Karl, but to be that borders on pedophilia because he guy looked like he was twice his age.

Basically, I feel that if they truly want to show that they are gay/lesbian friendly, then make most of the LIs either strictly straight or strictly gay. To me, it shows that the writers actually put loving effort into their characters and made the decision to make them straight or gay for themselves, rather than having some higher up corporate saying "We have to please everyone. Make everyone bi!". I've heard writers say that their characters often feel like their own children. So you can imagine they don't want them to be butchered or bastardised by executive higher-ups like EA, when the writers already had visions and ideals for them.

Now, I'm not saying I don't want there to be any bi LIs. Throw a bi LI in there if you want. But please, show some effort with it.

I never really felt that the DA2 characters were all bisexual (with exception of Isabela and possibly Anders). It just seemed to me that they were player-sexual, so depending on your gender depended on their sexuality, like the whole alternate-universe thing.

I understand wanting Cullen to be "straight" based on Origins (which is only a small scene). But I don't see how Anders or Fenris is considered bisexual if you're playing a male character and romanced them. Without a little metagaming on Anders(Thinking of his dialogue in Awakening) you can role play with him as 100% gay as he makes no mention of loving a woman in DA2 and never hooks up with one. With Fenris, if you don't romance him he hooks up with Isabella. So he could either be gay or bi, if you hooked up with him but let him go. You know nothing of Merrill's sexuality unless you romance her and Isabella is well known in DA2 as bi.

With that said. I would like Cullen to be available to whomever wants to romance him but if he is just a straight LI then I want BioWare to give me an awesome strictly gay lover for my male character. But then again, if you want Cullen straight, you'll most likely play a female anyway so he will be strictly straight in your world.

I don't think it would be out of character for Cullen to romance a male. I mean, just because he didn't fancy the male Amell/Surana doesn't mean he's never fancied a guy before. Alternatively, perhaps he never fell for a man until he meets your male protagonist, that sort of thing happens in real life all the time.

You can't help who you fall for!

Yeah but this will be a serious blow to my male Surana's self-esteem if he finds out Cullen's also into guys 

Think about it people, Cullen did not hit on FemHawke so that's proof he doesn't hit on someone just because of his/her sex

Granted, from what we've seen of him so far (which isn't much) he appears to be straight, but he's a blank enough slate to make him bisexual, or give up on women altogether and decide that he only likes men. It would be ****** easy make him open minded when it comes to his sexuality.

I think I'd be more annoyed if he was unromanceable because he was still being emo over the Warden/A dead "almost" Warden than I would be if he'd taken a chastity vow.

No worries! It wasn't embarrassing, just unexpected that's all, this is actually the first time I've seen my work reposted somewhere other than where I posted it, so it was surprising. It was nice to see, and honestly I was unsure about speaking up and saying it was mine simply because I've only officially joined the thread. It was kind of weird for me in that respect being one of the new girls and all. You can go and post whatever you like of mine without deferring to me first. I don't mind.

I've been going through the games again and I noticed how utterly underwhelming some character customization is. Specifically hair and adding things like tattoos. Some of the hair makes sense for the setting I guess but would it be bad to see something like a fauxhawk in that era with a medieval twist? I kinda understand they want to keep them realistic for the setting but some are just awful. I want more scars, tats, and different styles for the hair.

If all we're going to get is the customization on the face I think we should get a lot more options. Bioware did say customization will be a major focus. I'm guessing that includes the character creator.

hahaha.   I'll love it if he only has eyes for Amell/Surana.  Then again, I don't know how much I'll like Dragon Age 3's protagonist.
