That's the Anders picture that was being talked about^

Yikes.
Looks like Kirstoff!Justice face over Anders' face?

I managed to meet Steve Blum at one point. He's an awesome guy.

I guess it's just kinda hard for me to see Cullen as bi. I've always headcannoned that he and my female Amell Mage had a thing going on in the Tower. But then the events of DA: O occured and she had to leave. I dunno, I've just always seen him as straight. (shrugs)

Headcannons can ruin your life.

I've been going through the games again and I noticed how utterly underwhelming some character customization is. Specifically hair and adding things like tattoos. Some of the hair makes sense for the setting I guess but would it be bad to see something like a fauxhawk in that era with a medieval twist? I kinda understand they want to keep them realistic for the setting but some are just awful. I want more scars, tats, and different styles for the hair.

If all we're going to get is the customization on the face I think we should get a lot more options. Bioware did say customization will be a major focus. I'm guessing that includes the character creator.

Couldn't agree more, deuce -- and if what they wanted was realism, there should have been more styles of updos for women and beards for guys. I can't tell you (though you probably share my pain) how annoying it is to have no beard options between light stubble and squirrel-biting-your-chin. Image IPB

I'm also annoyed that we never got the option to use FHawke's hair. AND that we STILL can't use Morrigan/Velanna's hairstyle, even though NPC's (like Athenril) had it in DAII.

Rubbish.

On another note (I've been catching up)...

Oh my! That is just heartbreaking! I can't even read fanfics that cover some sort of deterioration of Anders health, let alone been able to deal with that in-game. Poor Anders...come to my Hawke and let me get you laid.

Side note, totally laughing at that GIF since I recognized it immediately. I watched a LOT of Alias

I wish we had a mix of characters that were gay, straight, and bi. So does David Gaider, but the resources just aren't there right now, so I'm getting adjusted to the pc-sexual way of doing things. But I really, really liked the way things were done in ME3. Inevitably that would mean that someone was disappointed that they couldn't romance a character the way they wanted to, but I think most people would say that their sexuality is an important part of who they are, and if DG wants the writing to eventually reflect that, I hope the fans are mature enough to respect his creative decisions. Image IPB

Will I be disappointed if my crush is gay? Totally. But I'll have a gay buddy and learn to appreciate that character even though he can't offer me what I want, and even though he's different ---- I think it could go a long way toward teaching DA fans to appreciate gay and bi folks in real life, and to understand that no one can change their sexuality to suit you (it doesn't matter how hot you are -- they can't handwave their own sexuality). The pc-sexual thing is purely fanservice -- it doesn't actually acknowledge bisexuality or homosexuality as a lifestyle, (you can currently plug your ears and pretend most characters are straight) and that really bugs me.

There's my very strong opinion on the matter, and I know it's not everybody's, it's just mine -- so no tomatoes, please!! Image IPB

So uh, I'm really carppy at using image editing software, but I've been cursed with a case of the bored. I have no idea how to make it faster or shiny or anything.
But I figured since I hang in the Cullen thread, here's a Cullen from one of my favorite scenes of him.

You know what I'm realizing? People hit on you left and right in ME. (Just friendzoned Allers... felt good lol). But Anders hits on them and people flip their sh!t.

I do hope we get the heart option or something similar for DA3. I'm going to freak if I miss that ONE line that trigger's Cullen's or anyone's romance. Halfway through the game, I'm wondering why he's still treating my PC like his bestie and not his would-be lovah.

Thank you!!!! I was expecting the hammer to drop fast, so I'm glad the first person to respond doesn't think I'm horrible - LOL!!!

I just... I realize that this is a game, and that the point of it is for people to have fun -- and that's most of what I've heard in support of the pc-sexual thing: "I like it because I get all the options" - which is totally cool and understandable.

But I think that games like DA have a powerful voice in shifting the culture, and I worry that what we're doing is presenting bisexual characters as not people, but options. And we're accidentally sending the message that, with enough convincing, anyone will be attracted to you.

There was this awesome moment when my husband realized he couldn't romance Traynor no matter what he did, and then Allers skanked her way into his MShep's quarters -- and he was pretty whiny about the fact that he couldn't have Traynor, who is awesome, but Allers, who he thought was revolting, was hitting on him. But then he said "I guess that's how it is in real life. Sometimes the most awesome girl is going to be a lesbian and you just have to respect her sexuality and be her bro."

I thought that was mega-awesome. Image IPB

Yeah, people were super weird about Anders. I don't understand at all because I really like being hit on by all the things. Image IPB

... which is what made it weird when  Joker was soooo not interested in Shep. That was the most awkward conversation EVER. I was like, "dude -- you'll take the robot instead, seriously?"
Between him and Vega my Shep was having some serious self-esteem issues. LOL

It breaks my heart that Joker and Vega were not romance-able, as much as I love dear Kaidan lol But just my luck, ME being ME, they'd be straight :P

I kind of bow out of the bi LI discussion these days because I've already said my part and I'm sick to death of talking about it. And some people just want to talk about it over and over again, instead of agreeing to disagreeing. Because that's all you can do with this issue is agree to disagree. I've never seen anyone change his/her mind on it. Also I think we had pretty much decided not to talk about it in the Cullen thread b/c it was a sensitive topic. Kind of like the ME3 ending lol

Vega is sorta kinda romanceable in the Citadel DLC, but it's uhm... Rather awkward.

@brushyourteeth
Thank you! Sometimes I feel like a very old person yelling at technology a computer to do things when I don't know what to do. Google only goes so far.
I was surprised I never saw any other gifs of that scene so I figured why not. I needed to refresh my brain on how to even make a simple gimp gif.

They weren't really romanceable as a FemShep, either. Joker turns you down and Vega admits that he was bluffing when he flirted and has to get drunk and be repeatedly pressured by Shep to have sex... then seems regretful later. So... you definitely didn't miss out much there.

And I did remember you suggesting we not talk about it again, but I thought you'd changed your mind when I saw you chime in. Sorry!

Thank you!!!!!!!!! I didn't get to say it earlier, but I'm suuuuper glad to see you back!!!! I saw where you asked about the Cullen banners earlier. I think we've all kind of made and collected them over time. I have a few saved in an album if you click on my profile, but I think most of the good ones have been saved by R2smuse and probably a few other people too. You can also probably just right-click and save some from most of our signatures if you see one that you like -- I don't see anyone from the Cullen thread minding. Image IPB

No biggie lol Oh yeah I know they aren't romance-able, PERIOD. I'm actually surprised you can even hit on them as FemShep!

Thinking about FemShep playthrough after this and can't decide between Liara and Garrus. I KNOW GARRUS FANGIRLS, JUST CALM DOWN :P He has just been Shep's bro for so long it's hard to see him otherwise. But I had been leaning towards Liara for so long... until I finally played ME1 and 2. And... she sucks in those. But I love her in ME3. But Garrus never sucks; Garrus sticks by your side through thick and thin.

I wish Tali were romanceable to FemShep *pout*

I'm trying to think of something DA-related to add to this but nothing's coming to mind lol sorry for hijacking teh thread with ME nonsense yet again *hangs head*

The ME team can be such trolls! Between Joker and the Refuse ending... seriously, those guys and girls are brave because WEAREBIOWAREFANSANDWEWILLFINDANDTRASHYOURCAR. Image IPB

The Garrus romance still has one (for me) disappointing part to it -- the way it's initiated. Garrus doesn't even consider Shep as a romantic target until she brings it up and then he kind of seemed "oh, well, I don't have anything else going on, and I do respect you as a soldier, so why not?" and that didn't get my blood pumping at all. But the rest of the romance is amazing, and the Citadel date is pretty adorable. Image IPB

Seriously, none of the romances beat Liara, though. She was a huge disappointment in ME2, but so awesome when she comes back. So... tough choices!

So, DA-related but not exactly Cullen-related: did you guys know that Sister Petrice can survive till the end of the game? I was snuggled up with my husband reading the World of Thedas while he played his jerk-Hawke, and that little rat can totally not get arrowed by a Qunari! Have you guys ever experienced this? Clearly I have missed some very important options!!

I had no idea she could survive. I always thought she got arrow'd no matter what

If instead you chose to support Ser Varnell earlier, you will have the option to support Petrice and her zealots, in which case she will not be killed by the Qunari and the murder of Saemus will be pinned on the Qunari, but the Grand Cleric will strip Mother Petrice of her title, saying that she "failed to maintain the solemn dignity" of her position. Later, after you leave the Chantry, Petrice will tell you that if you ever need her support, she will be there to aid you.

Act 3
If Petrice survives the events of act 2 Hawke can meet her in the chantry during act 3. In conversation she reveals that she no longer holds a title of "Mother", and is preparing to gather support for a schism within the Chantry
From the DAWiki

Well... The more you know, I suppose

Edit: Oh, she was in Dragon Age II?  I don't remember seeing anything like that.  Maybe I've been too busy admiring Cullen. :P

LOL - he is!! It's hilarious, though. Like, stomach-ache hilarious. :D

What's weird is how genuinely nice and thankful she is to Hawke for helping her. She'd almost seem sane, if she weren't, you know, insane.

That's the problem with those Chantry folk.

I actually came in here to say that I just started a new mage PT in Origins, and I forgot that Cullen stutters a bit when he's nervous! IT'S SO ADORABLE.
