Without being able to run others' discs, how will we be able to play games with our friends at their homes? Or try a copy out to see if we want to buy it? Or rent from a video store?

That seriously doesn't make sense to me.

I haven't a clue, m'dear, and it doesn't make sense to me either. That is what I got from the numerous articles I read. I share my games with a friend ALL the time - it's her way of trying out a game before she commits to buying it. The gaming industry just wants us to spend more money, I guess.

I heard about the lack of backward compatibility for the Xbox One and that games will be locked to the console too.  That makes me Posted Image.  I think to compensate, Xbox will still be selling the 360 at something like $99.  But I think it's the industry's way of curbing the second hand market in games, because it's only the retailers who really benefit from it.  Great for the industry but not so great for the consumer (and your friend).

I'm not going to buy the new console.  I am going to keep my trusty little 360 (still a lot of games out there to play).  Plus it has backward compatibility for the older Xbox games such as KOTOR.  I have decided to get DA3 for the PC instead.

I wonder if he's going to get anymore dark circling around his eyes. He had that in DAO and in DA2, and I wonder if it's from lack of sleep, or if it's a side effect of lyrium addiction. Gregoir had it pretty badly in DAO, but he's also quite a bit older.

Part of me wonders if Cullen will try to kick the lyrium habit, especially if the templar order is rebelling against the chantry, which controls the lyrium for the templars.

Don't know much about engines in general so can't comment on that really....

But I think Cullen's big makeover happened in DA2. We aren't likely to see him evolve anymore, appearance wise. Just like I don't expect Isabela to show up with a totally new look. Or Alistair, or anyone.

If a minor character gets made major though (a la Isabela in DAO to DA2) then I would expect possible changes. Like if Lia or Charade became a companion.

I think Charade would make a good companion.  She wasn't in DA2 long enough.  I hope we find out a bit more about her.  Plus she would keep the 'Amell' family name running through all three games!  And you always need a good archer in the party.

I am not sure what Cullen will look like with the new Frostbite engine.  I mean the characters in BF4 looked quite lifelike, but my understanding was the DA characters wouldn't be that way (I am not sure if 'cartoony' is the right way to describe it).  I am kind of expecting him to look very similar to how he looks in DA2, albeit with more shadows under the eyes!

Thumbs up for the video about the Xbox One reveal.

Have just seen a FAQs about the new console in the Guardian. There is an update about the game being tied to the console/2nd hand games -

"UPDATE: It appears that this has now been discredited. Other sources suggest that things will work like this: when you buy a game disc, the game has to be installed on to the hard drive. But then if you sell the game and the new owner tries to install the game on their machine, the version on your console is rendered void. In short, one disc = one owner.

So it's going to work like EA's Online Pass, which might not be universally popular?"

Source - http://m.guardian.co...s-compatibility

I'll shut up about it now. Goodnight!

I really don't like the sound of the new Xbox. I think I'll just stick with my good 'ol 360 'til I don't have much a choice any longer.
Maybe I'll completely convert to PC gaming eventually.

As for what Cullen would look like (or the game in general)... I honestly have no idea what to expect. Similar to DA2, just more... "updated"? I know an engine determines what you are able to do with the world, not the art style itself. Frostbite is good at destruction from what I've seen.

Maybe we'll be able to figure out how his hair works?

I expect dramatic lens flare.

This is what I'm thinking as well. I have no idea what the change of engine does, but they have said that the art style would be the same as DA2. In my completely non-expert opinion, if the big changes between DA:O and DA2 perhaps can be chalked up to the change in artstyle, then we're probably fine with old characters transferring. If not... then I'll just pray for a Cullen transform, not an Alistair one. :)

Yeah, I reckon he'll look much the same but maybe slightly more realistic with more details in his face and hair texture etc.

Yeah, I'm kinda glad I can PC game now too. If all else fails I'll just buy it for the PC only instead.

Gah! I didn't even consider Charade or Lia for DA:I!!! How exciting! I really liked both of those characters as minor as they were in DA2, especially Lia  and then she when she joined the city guard....Posted Image Such a positive ending for her.
I like how the writers pick really minor characters from a previous game to develop into party members. I had not ever given Isabela or Merrill a second glance at all in Origins, both barely registered on my radar, but the way they were fleshed out for 2 really impressed me. A lot of people don't want companions that existed in the previous games, I like it. It gives me a sense of continuity and ties to the previous games. That being said, I like brand new character too. I'm all for a nice, solid mix of both worlds.

How distinctive Cullen looked compared to other NPCs always confused me lol

Even his hair changed from reddish/brown to blonde.
blonde haired male equals instant DA LI, obvs

I had always thought Cullen was blonde, even in Origins. My warden was a blonde mage and her hair looked the same reddish/brown when she was in the tower too. I decided it was just bad lighting, so it wasn't that surprising for me to see him blonde in natural light for DA2.
Huh. you are right. I never noticed how all the male LIs are some form of blonde (yes, I'm counting Fen as blonde...albino blonde!!), whereas beside Leliana, the females LIs seem to be brunettes.

I like to refer to Cullen hair change as a lyrium dye job. It's just the lighting in the tower though, but it amuses me.

He definitely looks sun kissed blonde in DA2, instead of just blonde. *snickers* Lyrium dye job!Lyrium and it's many uses. It's probably like the Templar's snake oil. I see a shoddy little cart selling it with a flim flam man at the helm.

So do you think Cullen would be a LI to a mage character? I wonder if it would be harder to sway him to a romantic relationship if your character is a mage, versus a rogue or warrior.

As far as I'm concerned, if Fenris can romance a mage, so can Cullen.

I think it'll be interesting to see how feels about a mage come DA3. I think he'll always have some general trust issues, but I could see him getting past those for someone he individually trusted. Now... blood mage, no way. One nice thing a mage has going for her in DA3 is that there's sort of no such thing as an apostate anymore with no Circles, so it'll be interesting seeing him adjust to that and maybe getting to know the PC is part of that adjustment.

Now... I have no idea how they would implement the romance. Given the resource limitations for the romances, I wouldn't expect a whole lot of customization of the story based on your class. But I'd love to be surprised.

This is something I've been wondering myself. I guess it could be possible, I mean, if Fenris will date a mage after being treated as badly as he was then I guess in theory Cullen would too.

What makes me think that he might not is that I don't know if he could look beyond the fact that (in his mind) she/he could get possessed by demons at any given moment and/or could turn to blood magic. That being said, you can't help who you fall for.

I won't be at all surprised if he refuses to participate in a romance with a mage, even if he is madly in love with her/him.
