What DA2 song would be best for Cassandra's intro to my speculation video? I can't use the Florence & The Machine - "I'm Not Calling You a Liar" because of copyright 'n' ****.

What kind of mood are you going for?

Um... "I'm a badass but I'm really as soft as mash potato".

Uh.....I think if Cullen were in DA3 and we are indeed Inquisitors--it would very much mesh for him.

With the Inquisitors basically founding the Templars. It would be a legit undertaking for him. Get back to the roots of Templar beliefs. (that's all i got)

I like this idea, in that I could very much see that being something Cullen would do. Alas, we've been told the Inquisition isn't templar aligned. I can't wait til they finally tell us what it IS, as opposed to what it's NOT.

So it's possible that the portrait of Stonehammer was concept art from DA:O (not sure why they'd bother to paint him, but I admittedly don't know squat about the game developing process) and all the artists had was this one symbol for dwarves so they stuck it onto his belt and it really should have been photoshopped out for the book.

OR, Stonehammer, being the first Paragon, worked his way into power by being a Carta man and founded the first noble house, but kept the gear for fun. And it really should have been photoshopped out for the book.

OR it means something and we don't know what.

Apparently the art in the book is all from some big folder they just dump all their concept art into. So that's why it's a grab bag of art from all the games.

Someone should ask someone about that pesky sun!

I thought about making a topic on the DAIII forums, but I figured if it couldn't make it through the Cullen thread without hearing I was crazy there was no point in opening myself up for that level of scrutiny!

Although, thanks to you, there's a lot more to talk about now. Conclusion: Bioware, why you so fickle?

Hopefully they'll tell us that at E3. Ah man, think of the conversation we could have with that information. We'd also be able to give our protagonists motivation for why they've joined (or whatever).

Say what??  I don't think you're crazy!  I think our conclusion was... if it actually means something, the best chance is that it's an ancient creator symbol.  The dwarves don't believe in a creator, but their religion doesn't strictly rule out a creator, according to that post by DG.

Eh, I say start it! There are some smart cookies over there that know more about the lore overall than I do.

Hmm. Some of my favorite DA music is from the Leliana's Song soundtrack. Maybe "Evening and Night"? The "Templars" theme from DAII is always fitting. So is "Mages" -- it's super sad but resilient sounding. "Ferelden at War" from the DA:O soundtrack is just plain awesome.

Exactly. You know it'll end up being exactly what we think it is... and everything they've said is probably a hand wave that doesn't hold up under detailed scrutiny. Inquisition is like old Inquisition, seeking out the truth no one else will. The end. "See... it's not aligned with anyone! Not Chantry, not templars! They're the ultimate outside agent. The Men in Black." :bandit::ph34r::ph34r::bandit:

Sorry to but in but has anyone already mentioned that in page 84, there is a qunari wearing the same sun and who is simply described as "qunari warrior"?
It could just be the art department think it's cool and puts wherever regardless of the lore? Or maybe even some discarded art for concepts that never made it ingame.

I'll definitely think about it. I'd have to do it when I'm feeling smart -- maybe later tonight. I don't really start to wake up mentally till about 8am. Posted Image

And let's not forget that thaig in DA2. There long b4 the dwarves and there b4 the first blight.

Oh, dates are swishing around in my mind now, but the time of Andraste was around the first blight, right? Right after?

This paragon guy; ties to tevinter; founding of carta--the symbol stuff. This was long before the first blight and the magisters and all that, right?

I think that was addressed on the forums once and a developer said it was concept art for an Inquisition companion. Don't have a source, though - sorry!

Ah, good point! No we hadn't mentioned that. Gah! This was my original point. That symbol seems to show up everywhere in the concept art!

Yes and yes to both timeline questions.

There is some evidence that elves and dwarves lived together underground (Cadash Thaig? is that the name?) and humans and elves lived together in caves (the Dalish elf origin in DA:O). Lots of opportunity for cultural crossover there.

Good thinking! They reused a remix of a couple of those songs for MotA.

You must be right -- I don't think I've seen any other topics address anything from the World of Thedas (strangely). I personally wish they would open up a whole new forum for discussion about WoT and the other novels and comics.

Even if it was just a cool symbol to use, they could still do sumthing w/it over the course of the games. There's only so much they can put in one game anyway.

The could very well build on the lore. Hopefully, give more info on the current lore, tho. Then continue to build it out for the next games. There's alot of meat on this game series' bones.

LOL! I'm imagining a mad scramble in the writer's pit:

"Crap, guys, the fans discovered a painting of a paragon wearing Chantry regalia! Hurry, write a juicy explanation into the lore or we'll look like fools!" Posted Image

So my husband was asking me the other day what I thought some reasons for Cullen to travel with us in DA:I would be, and with so little information I couldn't really give him a great answer. But it did get me thinking about this: if the magister companion from the leaked survey turns out to be in the game, Cullen would definitely be interested in keeping an eye on him, maybe even if he disapproved enough of the protagonist's actions that he'd normally leave.

I'm personally hoping for some Templar/magister catfighting, especially if the magister is a flirtatious sort. :D

There was a thread about WoT lore at one point. That could be resurrected.

That would be a great interaction. I dunno, I can't help but imagine Cullen in need of a job by 9:40. Working for the Inquisitor to inquisit the Big Bad seems like a good mission for him.

That's a good point. How weird would it be if we weren't actually with the Inquisition? Like, if the DA team threw a fast one at us and we were working to stop it or something? People on the BSN would raaaage, but then I guess a lot of the extremely anti-Chantry folk who still insist that Inquisition=Maker worship would be pleased.

iirc, the magister in the leak was supposed to have a roguish personality.

Cullen traveling w/us: Maybe as sum have posted...we gotta bust him out of jail after the whole end of DA2 thing. That was a giant storm and he was the only one left standing to account for anything. Depending on which Templar finally showed up....it might not go well for Cullen

And he let Hawke trot off. Oh. A mage Hawke. I'm not too sure how the Viscount Hawke thing played out. Except maybe Justinia really did throw an exalted march and Hakwe fled. Cuz for whatever reason, even Viscount Hawke eventually fled. The only reason I can think is things got too hot.

The knight commander was well regarded w/in her circles. Now she's a red lyrium statue. They can put her lowtown next to Hawke's statue...

Or he was called to Orlais when everything got crazy and he, too, just wants to get to the bottom of it.
