This is the only reason I could see him having a problem and being possibly incarcerated (and of course there is a problem when Hawke sides with Templars, why would he be arrested then? Just for insubordination?). I would more likely see him questioned about the events. But him joining forces with the pc I would ascribe to differences between what he would think would be right vs. Chantry/Order high-ups... Pure fantasy on my side thoughTwice a Lady wrote...
I have a hard time believing that since the rest of the Kirkwal templars backed up Cullen's decision that he could be found guilty of insubordination. Unless he is imprisoned for allowing Anders and or Hawke to leave Kirkwall that is the only way I'd buy his imprisonment.

In short, there's got to be a reason, to my mind, that Cassandra and therefore the Chantry, have no freakin' clue what really happened that day. If it wasn't known that Meredith was in the wrong... Then who knows what they would believe about Cullen's motivations.

I don't think he knew Anders blew up the chantry either. He wasn't there with Meredith when Anders gave his speech.
Meredith could of just said "MAGES/MAGIC BLEW UP CHANTRY KILL ALL THE MAGES!" and went from there. I feel like if he knew he wouldn't of assisted with the annuling if he knew just one rogue mage did it?
Edit
I suppose he would if you told him, but that's only with a pro templar game.
I am confused.

that's just it. Whatever they asked, and whatever he said... The Powers That Be don't know what happened, as of 9:40. I can come up with many scenarios for why that happened... And have been long winded about them! LOL ... But the situation remains that either he lied, they didn't believe him... Or no one asked!Batteries wrote...
Unless Cullen lied about what happened, I don't know why they wouldn't know what went down unless they just thought he was crazy. Maybe he just said "Screw you guys, I'm going home!"

Ah yes, I always forget about that too. The passage of time and the muddled 'telephone game' of the original story. I guess the old adage holds true: there are three sides to every story, my side, your side and the truth. and the chantry has heard 'em all whilst trying to find the truth!neonmoth wrote...

LOL, Perhaps he was all, "Screw you guys! I'm taking my bat and my ball and I'm going home!" and he went back to Ferelden to live a quiet life of annoyminity after being screwed over by both mages and Templars alike. and no heard from him since or ever found him.R2s Muse wrote...

Due to that alone, I'm pretty sure he won't be a Knight Commander.

I am really hoping he wasn't promoted (I don't want him to be involved in the breaking of the Nevarran Accord). He could be an agent for The Divine and maybe part of the new Chantry Templar set up (but I guess that depends on how far after the events of Assunder DA3 starts). I only say that, because the survey picture still had him wearing the Templar insignia (unless that was added to throw people off)!
They probably kept it because that's a big part of his identity. He'll always be a Templar even if the order has been split in two. I imagine he's still part of the Divine-loyal Templars, and in theory the Chantry would own the rights to that name. If anything the rebel templars should be going under a completely new insignia and title.

I now have this image of him with a pair of secateurs talking to his plants!
If he had a large farm, then you could imagine him being all hot and sweaty toiling in the fields, but if he's back in Ferelden, very unlikely with the climate there. More likely damp and cold!
