My bad!

Exactly! It doesn't really matter where they take his story, so long as it's done well. And if he is a companion/LI it really isn't important if he doesn't behave how we've come to imagine him, I'd just be happy that we finally got him!

Besides, the main characteristics we've treated as head canon so far are attributes he's displayed in both games already, like his slight flustered awkwardness when it comes to topics of a sexual nature or his own feelings for someone, his PTSD, his constant struggle to do what's right etc, those are all traits the writers gave him themselves so its not like we've pulled this stuff out of thin air.

It's something that DG once said in one of the threads. He said that in a sense we'd backed the writers into a corner and that if Cullen was a companion/LI they're kinda shoe horned into making him into the kinda of person his fans think/feel he is. He also said that he thought we'd be the first people with our torches and pitchforks at the ready if they don't something to him that we didn't like.

... Of course, this was before he started taking our side, which actually happened on the same day. I still don't know what made him change his mind, although I do recall that we all went into said thread en masse to explain that we wouldn't freak out, nor do we believe our theories and head canons to be legit or expect them to be carried out by the writers.

I think DG's opinions were honest and to an outsider, as he was, it's a legit concern. I hope he's since learned differently. I hope he didn't switch because the Cullenites went in en masse to reply to him! lol! Poor guy!  Rather, I think not getting flamed by us probably helped. He's been personally flamed by other players who feel they should know better than a dev. I've seen DG put up with this. It's always been appalling to me when it happens because I just don't understand the high horse some people get on. :?

Oh, we weren't rude to him or anything. We explained in a calm and humorous manner and he seemed to appreciate how polite we were.

Tbh, there was a *certain* notorious BSN user encouraging his initial attitude until we stated our case. I'm sure said BSN'er will be in here soon enough to come out with some smart mouthed bull**** to post up on Tumblr the minute we reply. Don't worry though, I've got a little plan of my own in store for that guy.

I know right?! We didn't conjure up Cullen's core set of characteristics out of wishful thinking! lol! All the pontificating we do about his life before, is he the child of a mage, did he have a family, etc. is all wild speculation on our part. Here's the Big Shocker: We. Know. This. That's stuff that we all have our own stories for - and many of us have multiple backstories - but that's also the stuff that the writers needn't fear overriding. We KNOW we can't have our headcanons. We can't all be right! LMAO! If the writers keep Cullen's core personality, the one THEY came up with, and give him a decent story - even an evil one, I'll be happy. As far as I know we'll all be happy! There's a difference between a fan and a psycophant.

So anyone know what's happening on June 10? I know their going to show us what the PS4 looks like which I'm interested in buying.

Staying on topic: Do you think Cullen will be the first companion announced during E3?

I've missed too much! There's a hater who's been brave enough to wander in here?! HAHAHAHAHA! Shouldn't that count as harrassment?

Bingo! As you said the stuff we've come up with for his childhood, family, potential past relationships etc is just us filling in the spaces temporarily until the writers give us his canon details. As for speculating on his actions etc in DA:O and DA2 regarding what he was thinking and feeling, again that's just speculation for conversation purposes. He'll, we have to make sh!t up because he's barely had more than 20 minutes screen time over the course of 2 games and we know absolutely sod all about him!

I mean sheesh, isn't that what the core design of RPGs are about? Using your imagination to conjure up scenarios and situations with other people! Because as a table top RPG player thats how we've been doing it for years!

I don't know a thing about June 10th. Too busy working. I usually catch up on the good tidbits with thehelp of my friends here. ^_^ I have no plan to buy the PS4 right away. Still enjoying my PS3 too much to care.

As for Cullen: Nope. If he is a companion, I highly doubt he'll be the first one revealed. He's too controversial to make the first one they'll show. I'm not even going to hold my breath for that.

That's the pre-E3 thingy, right? The devs haven't said anything about it.

I'd say if any companion is going to be shown it'll Cassandra since that would a lesser spoiler.

I think Cassandras too experienced and powerful to be a companion but they could figure out how to do it if they wanted to. Still don't know why Leliana wouldn't be more involved.

The scenarios and situations I have come up with should not be seen by any mortal being here.

I'm kidding. Or am I?

Seriously, it's fun coming up with stuff about a character. I like to think about his stutter and how he got it. Is Cullen's stutter simply due to nervousness, or is it a speech impediment he had trained out of him - that is until he speaks to a pretty lady?

Exactly! It's fun. But we know it's just that: Fun. There should be no fear of reprisals because we have ground to stand on. Only a child would get upset that the "facts" in their head were swept aside.

Phantom: I actually suggested to the woman who made those scenes that she should do one of Cullen carrying the female Amell/Surana back to her room after her harrowing and have him give her some sort of wistful/worried look as he lays her on the bed and pauses for a moment longer than he should because he doesn't really wanna leave her alone. I figured it would be a cute add on to the mini-romance.

She said if she gets time she'd definitely make it.

I would so love a mod like this. If only I could make them (sigh)!

I am not getting my expectations too high. I am keeping them low to avoid extreme disappointment (particularly if Cullen is not a companion). If any companions are glimpsed at EA Press launch/E3 he definitely wouldn't be shown. The DA3 forum would go up in flames!

15 days and counting!

Still really looking forward to E3 though.

I think longer would be good, the words are a little scrunchy. :)

Chanda, I'm so sorry but I couldn't get back to fixing the banner before I had to leave! :crying: I'll try again when I get home but that won't be for 3-4 weeks! There are a lot of Cullen banners, if you'd prefer not to use the one I made. I just don't recall what page they're on... R2 usually does a banner post every once in a while. I think the last was in the 1600s somewhere... but the search feature is either stupid or I'm an idiot because I can't just jump to that page. And searching "Cullen banners" has brought up nothing because search doesn't look at the posts within a topic. <_< Again,my apologies for not getting your banner done in time. My skills are rusty. And Cullen is stubborn! haha!

Hi everyone!

The last one was on page 1700.  FWIW, you can use Google to search BSN. "site:social.bioware.com cullen R2s Muse banner roundup" should find them. :D

All the E3 press conferences are on June 10. EA is at 1pm PDT. The devs haven't said anything about whether DA3 will feature.

On Cullen, I agree with the others; I don't think he will be the first companion announced, if he even is one. If they only show one companion... I'd expect it to be some hot chick, borrowing from the DA2 model.

Precisely. Though I do wonder if DG's remark about how we'd be the first with pitchforks was some sort of subtle hint that we're probably gonna rage about something he'll do in DA3, lol. Mind you, I wasn't even bothered about Anders blowing up the Chantry and had no problem with letting Alistair and Morrigan do the Dark Ritual in order to save both him and my Warden so I could keep them together, lol.
