Wait... what if those two aren't the protagonist's and they're just generic male and female npcs we'll encounter wearing some sort of uniform? I mean, sure they're wearing a cloak of sorts, but I dunno.

Have you noticed that the male protagonist's outfit has the sunburst insignia on it, but the females doesn't. The female version looks more like a uniform.
Instead of a uniform, I think they both look a lot like the champion's armor. They have Hawke's chicken spur on her heel and the Hawke tail flappy bits hanging down.

Actually, I think you might be right about the insignia on her hood, I can just make out the start of it but you can't see it because of the position of her head.

Spurs are what riders wear on their boots, right? Hawke's armor was bird inspired, so Hawke's spurs always looked to me like the wicked hooky parts on rooster feet.

The old Grey Warden dude reminds me of Duncan. If he's a companion I think he'll be like the father figure. That would be kinda nice, since in DA:O Wynne was very much the mother figure and in DA2 Varric and Aveline kinda took on the role of mum and dad... in a weird kinda way.

I never thought fem Hawke looked tomboyish at all, though her voice didn't really match her appearance... or her family, since she sounded far more posh and educated than the others.
