I guess if I am right then I'd hope they would use the whole redemption through doing the right thing, like self sacrifice or doing what it takes to end the templar/mage war peacefully along with the comradery/friendship/love thing. Especially if you choose to romance him, because the way his personal story seems to be developing it appears that he needs something important to him to fight for, which could quite easily be his lover now that his faith in the order has been shaken.

Personally, I think the physical similarities are uncanny, and your blow by blow comparison is similarly uncanny. Frankly, I think it's probably really a coincidence as opposed to intentional, though, despite the clear Buffy influences on DA. There are also many things about Spike that are completely different from Cullen, some we discussed last night. But, some aspects of the character arc could be similar, particularly the redemptive angle.

EDIT: And, I'd forgotten to mention, in that pic, Spike is a frowner, too! LOL

I think initally it was a coincidence, but I'd like to think that somewhere along the line they've realised the parallels and decided to role with it, but I guess we will find that out in DA3 if he's in it.

LOL you're right Spike is a frowner too! Maybe I should look into this Spike thing futher and see what else comes up?

 I hope Cullen looks like da2 Cullen in da3.  I don't see how the models looked cartoony, but I really was horrified by all but Marethari's and Tallis' elf model; teagan and Alistair and zevran's were the worst, and isolde's wasn't that great either.  I hope they redo most of the models.

I'm using my mom's iPad and I couldn't see my text I was adding to my previous post, thus I'm double posting. I didn't think Cullen's hair looked red at all in origins. It appeared a dark shade of brown to me and if it did appear red, I think it was because of the lighting in the Mage tower.

I seriously still want him to be with my mage warden Or with a new pc of elf or human origin (I'd say dwarf too if it wasn't for the fact he called Oghren a cave-dwelling heathen, which I think is a sign of his prejudice against dwarves).

Yeah, Spike's hair is a bleach blond dye job, where as Cullen's is supposed to be natural blond (although his hair is noticably a different colour in DA:O) but the hairstyle itself is exactly the same... then again I suppose it could be said that Justin Timberlake also had a similar hairstyle back in the 90's... As did Billy Idol back in the 80's LOL!

I'd also like Cullen to look the same in DA3 as he does in DA2 too, but I'd like to see them polish things up a bit, like sorting out the horrible ears and hands that all the characters seem to have. Hopefully they won't change his appearance too much, but I guess that would depend on the engine and art-style they use.

Here we go, this is Cullen's hair colour outside of the Circle tower in The Darkspawn Chronicles dlc in DA:O:





You're right, the lighting definitely makes his hair look a different colour inside the Mage tower. In natural light it looks kinda orangey/redish blond. His hair has definitely lightened up in DA2. I prefer his appearance in the second game.

How funny that the "real" person looks fake compared to the computer character! LOL But, yeah, the color is fake, but the hairstyle is hilariously similar. Plus, to my eye, the cheek bones, the nose.. Particularly in that picture. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have seen the similarities, but everyone's eye catches different things.

But, indeed, I hope he looks the same as in DA2... if we see him again. With no official announcements, it's hard to say if the engine will be radically different with DA3. But, given how similar the looks of the characters were between ME games, I'd hope we could get the same continuity with DA... instead of, gulp, DA2!Alistair.

This is kinda off topic, but I really don't know what to make of Anders VA. His tweets on Twitter are hilarious but he comes across as a bit... rude, unless your twitter picture is female and attractive. Hm, think I prefer his character in DA2.

Several reasons. The original thread was not initially created as an "official" discussion thread, it just started as a squee thread. So no opportunity to post pics and banners and such at the beginning like in the companion threads. Also, the OP had disappeared, so it couldn't be retrofitted as such. Finally, there was interest in renaming it  as a discussion thread as opposed to a fan thread. Of course, it's ironic that the OP of the new thread has also now disappeared. :PBut, I think that's inevitable.

Agree. That one is awesome. Mine turn out like this, where in the latter it looks like he's eating my nose (EDIT: swap that). LOL

Agree. That one is awesome. Mine turn out like this, where in the latter it looks like he's eating my nose. LOL

Ok, here's a new question for you all:

All we know about Cullen is what we've seen of him so far. We know he can be shy around a woman he likes, he becomes a little tongue tied about sexual subjects (like brothels) and we know he is sensible and appears to be a "thinker" but aside from that we know very little else.

Regarding his personality and like 'n' dislikes, what sorts of things would you like to find out/see/learn about him, what would you like DG & co to surprise you with surrounding Cullen and his backstory/personality?
