I think Cullen, while we know he has a respect for his duty (but will also do what he thinks is right despite what his commanders tell him, ie Meredith), has ultimately always wanted love. I think we can see that he wanted to love and be loved, by his infatuation with the female mage character in Origins. So honestly, I think his chances for LI are pretty good. He's not like Varric who has sworn to never love again.

That's a very good point that I hadn't even considered! I'd forgotten that it wasn't just Amell/Surana that he "always wanted" but the intimacy/sexytimes/love/relationship in general. Poor baby.

Let's hope they've not forgotten about his basic desires.

Well, catching up here. I was in a bit of a mood today, but this thread already has me giggling. Thank you, Cullen Thread.

And yes...I want a drunken Qunari companion! He and I will be getting regularly snookered together during DA3 playthru. Qunari Bro FTW!

Tallis: that one. she was definitely eye roll worthy.

Cullen as a true Templar in DA3. I agree. We haven't had that yet. And Alistair just being out of Templar boot camp doesn't count.

Ha, but "never love again" attitude can also add an interesting angle, whilst Cullen can be destined to loneliness. Just kiddin but someone compared him to sir Galahad in this thread, ominous? When it comes to his want of love, I'm not so sure that is clear. I guess it's up to our interpretation but from my point of view his love was his duty, whilst love to other(s) was more of a problem than blessing to him. I don't think he fully understands it and that's why he might be cautious when his feelings are involved.

I think he feels sworn to his duty. I do wonder if deep down he resents it a little due to all the hell he's experienced etc, I think if he hasn't ever had a relationship (intimate or not) then it'll probably be down to some sort of issue he's developed over the years. In DA:O we were led to believe that Templars took a vow of chastity, which I think is why he also said that it was something he always wanted, but could never have... but that's changed now, so they'd have to switch thing up a bit.

Now I'm wondering about Cullen's last name. It will be strange to finally find out what his last name is, after so many years (DA years) of not knowing it.

Edit: What if it's Dingwall or something corny like that?

It'll be Bowbullan.... Cullen Bowbullan. Or he goes by his last name of Cullen because his first and middles names are <gulp> Francis Gaye. Image IPB

After reading about the ME3 endings and people's reactions to it, I can't bring myself to finish my ME3 game. I don't think I'll ever finish it. Right now it's saved at Sheperd and Garrus having a picnic on the Citadel and he kisses her movie-style, and that's where I'm leaving it, because I think they're at their happiest, right there.

Hard call but I still think it's worth it. One of my favourite scenes with Anderson is at the end.

It's worth playing through to the end. Mind you, my first ever playthrough already had the EC added so the ending was less harsh. I liked it, even though I still don't quite understand what the hell was going on. Image IPB

Good point, I also played with EC, so it makes a difference. I don't like the endings but I've learned to work my head around them.

I think the Anderson death was a great scene. And I actually agree w/Casey's call on the amount of dialogue in that scene. I thought that worked well.

I was ready to die there. I thought..this is it. Dying here next to Anderson. Maybe see a few cutscenes w/ my war assets in action and victorious. Lord knows I busted my butt for it. And Cut.

But when Hackett is all it's not working...I cussed up a storm. Then I'm going up on that elevator and...I'm like why the heck am I here? Wth is going on?  goddarnit.

Anyway. Whatever.

I think the reason that the mage character was "The one thing he wanted but could never have" is because she was a mage and he was a templar, not because of a vow of chastity. If Templars take a vow of chastity then they better do some explaining about Aveline and Wesley.

I hope Cullen's not a virgin. I already lied to Alistair abt never having licked a lamp post in winter. Idk, if I wanna do that again.

Also agree you should finish; I know a lot of people hated it, but I loved it. So you may hate it, but you may love it.

About not understanding the end, I do understand it to a degree and feel it is quite classic sci-fi, sort of reminds me of a C.J. Cherryh story I once read, so that's another reason I love it (as a sci-fi fan).

But this is an historically bad topic to discuss in Cullen thread and we try to avoid it because it stirs the pot and is uncomfortable for some people.

I don't think this vow of chastity is really...all that. You got Wesley and the Blooming Rose stuff. Maybe it's just some cool idea they like to say during initiation.

Somehow I think he is a virgin. A 40-Year-Old-Virgin. Ha! He seems way too shy around women to actually get that far with them, and I think he has too much self respect to go to a brothel to just do the deed. I think he wants to be in love.

I don't really care if he's a virgin or not, since I'm pretty sure he'd still be awkward either way.

Maybe we find him covered in brothel ****s and then recruit him for our merry team. :wizard:

I don't know... I wouldn't really find it believable for someone his age to be a virgin. I'd be kind of annoyed if he were.

last thing i wanna say abt me3 ending---for me, the ending wasn't the starkid part. for me, the ending was everything post crucible firing. that's the part that felt choppy to me. abrupt.

but MMG is right. definitely finish the game. it's still worth it.

It would be kinda weird, but I think I'd prefer him to be a virgin than someone who's been frequenting brothels. I bet they just never confirm whether or not he's ever got laid.

Without sounding like a total tramp... I hope he's not. For many reasons. One being I don't want to wade through the whole "You're the only one. Be gentle"  emotional mess. lol
