Cullen looking out across the sea wondering what fate awaits him in DA3. <3

I really love this one, there's just something about the colours the artist used and the melancholic expression on his face. Whenever I see this one it always makes me want Cullen as a romanceable companion in DA3 even more than usual.

I was thinking, do you suppose that the DA team are going about their publicity and promotion of DA3 differently this time due to Dragon Age 2's marketing approach being highly criticised?

I'm wondering if their approach this time around is to not announce anything until relatively close to the shipping date, which is presumably still Fall, or early 2014 at the latest. If so, then it's a pretty smart approach because it means there's little to no chance of them promising anything that won't make it into the finished product.

Gosh, I don't know. Was just catching up in twitter thread... And now I'm more skeptical about how much we'll see at E3. :(

Supposedly whatever it is will be something special, but that's just the devs opinions. I mean, if it's a CGI trailer then it'll probably look "wonderful", but that doesn't really give us anything to go on when it comes to the game itself. Mind you, Cam did say that they'd be showing us/telling us some other stuff a short while after E3.

Maybe we really are only 4 or so months away from the games release?

My guess is they'll start teasing us with little hints as of Monday. Maybe we'll be able to piece together a rough idea of what they plan to show us at this event.

Have the devs actually said what day they're doing the reveal yet?

So this mini E3 preview they're doing on Thursday often shows quick little glimpses of the games being reveal at the event. I wonder if DA3 will be shown briefly?

I wonder if we would even recognise that it's DA3 just from a quick flash? Especially if it's drastically changed in appearance with the new Frostbite 3 engine.

Oh, also, earlier on I decided to photoshop a beard on Cullen from that picture of him with the starchops. I didn't save it because I was just curious to see what he'd look like... y'know, just in case they decide to give him a massive beard or something.

Anyway, I did it and he doesn't look too bad with one. Amazingly, both a full beard and a half beard suits him. Granted, his current stylised stubble looks soooo much more attractive on him, but he's still swoon worthy with a proper beard. I think I'd be able to tolerate it if they do give him one.

(Though I'll still mod it back to his stylised stubble on the PC if they do!)

If they show a flash of anything, I bet it will be the dragon intro that turns into the Bioware logo, and then the Official Dragon Age: Inquisition logo, because we still don't have any real idea of what that's going to look like. And then I bet any trailers or game play clips will be saved for the 10th and after.

One thing I feel DA can take from Skyrim is the way NPCs are always doing something... chopping wood, blacksmithing, playing tag, whatever. At the ball for example I'd love it if some people were talking in a group, one was munching on food, others were dancing... not everyone just standing around woodenly like in MOTA.

After several recent games the expectations are high for more natural npc ai. I love to stalk npcs in Skyrim...

A lot of people complained about the companions/npcs/AI being rubbish in the DA games, and what with a lot of recent RPG games really going above and beyond with that sort of thing I expect that DA3 will probably follow suit... or I hope so anyway, not that it's massively important, but it adds to the ambience. Seems kinda pointless having amazing looking environments without the characters within it making use of it.

Seriously, if the random npcs have half assed faces again I'm going to lose my mind. And yes, they really do need some kind of task. It really bothered me that some of them would be pacing 20 ft, then do a total 180 of out nowhere.

Another guilty pleasure of mine is to stand in their way. I remember this turian dude in ME3 who was pushing my Shep for quite a distance. Most of them stop though, weirdos.
On a serious note I would like if at least several main npcs had some sort of simple daily routine. So you can find them in different places.

I was more amused by the ones outside purgatory who constantly scratch their ass

I'm late to the discussion again because I sleep while you guys play. (Earth being round and all.)

My hopes for the romance content and pacing is a mix of both previous games. I'd like the romance to take its time, but I'd like more interaction of the different kinds of steps. Initiative flirt, flirt, confirmation, first kiss, sexeh time, more snogging, sucking face, declaration of love and/or relationship status.

With that goes the personal quest, but I'd also like another type of personal quest that sets either BFF or OTL. So double the interaction content right there. I would also like to be able to interact with my followers whenever I want, like we could in DAO.

I would like the pacing to differ depending on who you are romancing. In DAO it made sense that you could jump into the sack with Zevran ASAP, but had to woo Leliana and Alistair longer.

Another thing is initiative. I loved that the PC wasn't the one that took the initiative in DA2 with Anders or Isabela. But I understand that they won't do that again. Still, I'd like for something similar by making just an innocent first move an LI that has the fitting personality can then drive the flirting and be the one who seduced you.

I adored the set up with Alistair, where he would go after you, being driven crazy if you didn't ask him to bed first.

Me too ^^ ! You go to bed and a further 10 pages fly by. Can't keep up, this is the most active thread in the forum!

I would agree with Scr0ll, that a mixture of both would be good. And yes, more interaction would be great!

I thought the romance in DA2 was a bit too early in the game for me. I felt that one minute Hawke was flirting with Isabela, then next thing Wham! On the other hand, I wouldn't want it to occur at the end, like ME3 (although I can see why they did that, bearing in mind it was the last mission and all).

I hope they are going to show the preview on the EA website. Have to admit that the timing is handy!

It is difficult to know how Bioware will market the game. I think the CGI trailer will be awesome (as they always are), but I don't think much will be revealed in terms of companions. If Cullen should become a companion, I think he will be left till last. Prolong the agony!

I would like the pacing to depend on the type of romance and character as well. I would not mind shagging with Isabela from the get go and either it turns into love or just casual. But with someone like Alistair it should take time and it should be about love all the way through.

About E3, I'm getting a really bad feeling about a lot of things. I now don't believe we will get anything but a s cinematic trailer and some combat talk. I don't think they will get into the PC role, story and companions yet. There are other things I "figured out" that I can't talk about. All in all but I'm loosing hope in us getting a spectacular E3 reveal. :(

By spectacular I mean we get to see stuff in action, see CC, see companions, hear about the story, information about save import solution, see the world etc. :)

I don't think that will happen. :(

I don't know. Keeping it a big mystery can elevate interest but it will only work for a certain period of time and probably only on certain targets. The best approach is to slowly reveal piece by piece, while playing the strenghts, without spoiling anything. Such things as character generator, demo with a few minutes of gameplay (I liked how the DA2 has started when you could play with different powers depending on class), customization options etc. If they try to be overly secretive for too long people will be drained before the game release time or they will be disappointed by the game since scarcity of information creates a perfect field for wild speculation.

I love pro-active LIs. Did any of the writers say anything about removing it altogether? When I read DGs thoughts on the subject he seemed unfazed about the outrage regarding Anders and his sneaky ways ;] Hence I thought they would still use it if it was fitting the character and the story.

Even though I would love him to be revealed as early as possible I agree. Probably also due to the fact that if he was announced as a follower before other characters' reveals it would trigger rage over DA3 board :]

I hear ya. Somehow I don't see them revealing a lot (since nowadays it's very rare that any indepth info is presented on E3) but I would love to be pleasantly surprised by them ^_^

Actually, I have to take that back. They haven't said they won't do it, just talked about silly people going into homophobic rage. I got a feeling they'd do it differently this time. But you know... I hope NOT! I would LOVE for them to stick it to the homophobes again. MOAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAMOAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA:devil:

Oh that's great then, you made me worried for a moment. I hope they will keep it with more outgoing characters :] It really earned developers a massive respect in my book. Who knows, maybe dudes people will overcome their insecurities at some point and we'll be a big happy family

People are strange. I have to admit that when Anders/Isabela openly flirted with my Hawkes, they felt quite flattered!

^^ I must admit that however I like the thought, I can't see Cullen be the first one to strike. Furthermore, I can imagine him going for a "pure" relationship if the pc does not make a push for a more physical aspect... This might be laborious, gosh I hope he won't be too resentful so my pc become a desperate pursuer :]

I bet you're right. But!  It would at least answer two questions. 1) What logo they'll use going forward (hello, E3 pool question #15!), and 2) More confirmation that E3 will show us DA3 (not that we need more... but still!).

There. Fixed it for  ya! ;) I still maintain that part of the reason we get so much hate is because he's the only companion remotely closed to being revealed already. :(  Please please please, let them reveal someone else soon! :crying:
