No fun at all. The tactics screen was greatly improved, at least for me. There was something added to the tactics that wasn't in DAO that made a huge difference in battles; I wish I could remember what it is - I change it every time I get Fenris...maybe it's a cross-class thing.

Anyway. I do find DA2 more fun when it comes to story...and being able to ****** my friends off. It brings me joy when I see the rivalry points.

I think the thing that made DA:O superior for me was the option to play as different races, the playable origin stories and the amount of interaction with the companions that we were given.

You pretty much sum up all my points about DAO, though I kinda liked what DA2 did to follower interaction so I'm happily waiting for the combination of the two :]

That actually makes me wonder if they're gonna run with Alistair's original battle-hardened warrior thing for Cullen instead.

Oh yes, refresh us on that again? I know Alistair was originally going to be a grizzled old warrior, but that's it.

Agreed, though I'm in the camp who favors DA2 slightly more; I can certainly replay DA2 again and again, but not DA:O... I think that's because of the zombie-like voiceless PC and the loooooong quests like the Fade. But otherwise, of course, DA:O is a stellar game (if a bit dated, not its fault). And boy howdy is DA2 also becoming dated; those graphics are pretty ****e I'm noticing LOL It's amazing how much changes in the tech world in just 2 years.

Sadly the things Lola pointed out though are what's already been confirmed as not happening, like, no playable races or origins (not really), and DG insisted the amount of interaction with companions was the same in DA2, so not sure if they are addressing that as well.

I'll be honest guys, sometimes I worry that all they seem to be focusing on (from what little they leak) are things like graphics and skills. I mean, you are BIOWARE, don't you know what we care most about is the writing and the characters???

Apparently he was gonna be older, around Cullen's age now and was supposed to be shaped by his experiences and battles, a bit cold/distant to start out with... so basically Cullen, lol.

I worry about that too. My concern that they're putting so much focus on how pretty the game will look that the story and characters interaction will suffer.

I jump on the Benedict Cumberbatch bandwagon :] I liked his sinister character in Star Trek so much. For me he's got too unusual features to be considered girly, but I guess it is a matter of opinion. Chris Pine is more girly/pretty of the two, with his little nose, lush lips and blue eyes. I must admit I like guys with unusual face features, which might or might not be reflected by my real life choices

*now I'm wondering whether there is a celebrity husband material for me*

Girl I have a celebrity harem  Ewan McGregor, Usher, Karl Urban, Nemanja Vidic (obligatory athlete) COME TO MAMA!!!

That's why I like the thought of Cullen being older and more mature in DA3. Way more attractive than the stuttering little boy from Origins (even if his face were as pretty as it is in DA2). And for me that's why a man like Duncan is far and away hotter than most other characters in the whole series. I also am kind of developing a crush on Donnic, yeah, I KNOW, but he's just so sweet and cowed by Aveline, and yet very manly at the same time... my kind of guy :P

Oh Maker! YEEESSSSSS!!! I dunno why but I can horn on a guy something fierce when he's in his 30's and up but show me a pic of that same guy, barely out of his teens and I'm like "Eeewwwww!" I thought Duncan was fiiiine! :D And I wanted to romance Zu, from Jade Empire, soooooooo effing badly! Grr! Curse you Bioware! Every guy I've stated to have a little crush on, I can tell you now, that I don't like their younger faces. I like a face with character. Dwayne Johnson as a twenty something? Too round in the cheeks. Tom Hiddleston's younger pics - I've seen them about tumblr but don't know what they're from - he's too smooth. I just... don't usually dig young guys. This is most likely why my husband is 18 years my senior... I jsut caught up on like 3 episodes of GoT and can I just say that I kind of fell for Tyrion last night after what he says to Sansa?  Yes, me and a dwarf but DAAAAYUUUMMM! Even with the scar he has now... Ahem... sorry.

I would have no problems dating a little person; that doesn't really matter, no more than race, religion, abledness, etc... And yes Peter Dinklage is very, very sexy!

DAO is more demanding, storywise and mechanic-wise. I just spend frickin ages on single playthrough, so even though I enjoy it very much, I feel drained after I finish. DA2 on the other hand seems to fly by. I made a peace with no playable origins and races, so I think I'll be fine ;] I understand where they are coming from and I must admit I like voiced protagonists, even for the price of less freedom in the game.

As for the follower interaction, from what I've read DG wants to keep the "learning about followers through experience/questing with them" but wants to add more player agency regarding time/place of interactions, hence it is possible that we will have an opportunity to have a randon chat with them time to time and out of their questline.

Very true. :D I wanted to romance him too. I prefer guys that are... well not smaller than I am but sometiomes they have a certain something that gets to me. And Aveline, she's on my LI wishlist even though she has Donnic. Or, you know, we could BE Donnic for a few...

I did not know that Alistair was supposed to be... well like Cullen! :o I may have liked his romance more... Mind you, I may also have not gravitated so much toward Cullen either, had that already been done. Well.... no I can't say that. I probably would have. I would probably be just less invested in it. And more concerned that it wouldn't happen at all since it had been done. Cullen stands a better chance for being fresh, new meat territory....

Cullen might be more weathered by DA2 since 2 or 3 years would've passed.

The only romance, once again, that resembled DA:O romances in as much as talking and getting to know the character and learning about his background, was Fenris. I romanced Isabela recently and felt like I learned absolutely nothing new about the character. I was really, really disappointed in that romance, despite the fact that she is one of my all-time favorite characters.

But in any case, since I'm a habitual Fenris-mancer, I kind of come at DA2 from that angle... so the amount of talking we did with the LI and what we learned from him seem fine to me. BUT what I would like more of is just comments and conversations in general from LIs and even all companions throughout the game. So often when Hawke is talking to someone, his/her companions just stand behind him/her listlessly. I mean, yes, they do speak up occasionally, but I want MOOOOOOOOOORE.

I'm greedy like that :bandit:

I Was playing DA:O the other day, and Alistair decided to tell me about his sister right in the middle of clearing Redcliffe Castle of walking skeletons. Great timing, buddy! I hope they don't bring that back LOL

Yes, Peter is damn hot!  It blind sided me because there's usually just no... chemistry there between me and a guy that's smaller than I. When there is, the height difference makes everything awkward which kills the mood. It doesn't bother me that they're short, it bothers me that everything is so awkward and has to be consciously considered so I'm not inadvertantly putting them off. It's a problem that ruined a relationship I had once and I had NO clue I was causing the guy such distress. He wasn't a dwarf but at 5'1" he often joked that he should have been because they were cool.

From what Mike Laidlaw was hinting at, he said that they can do much better with the whole "home hub" and companion interaction thing. DG noted that players seemed to prefer conversing with the companions rather than learning via quests.

They said that they planned to bring back the option to talk to companions whenever we wanted, but seemed to be hinting towards the fact that it would take place in the home hub, rather than just anywhere... like in the middle of a broodmother battle.

Yeah if a guy didn't have dwarfism but was just simply very short, I can see how that would feel unusual, and tend to make you feel like a behemoth.

I hear ya!

I think I'd like to hear more about their thoughts, opinions and backgrounds beyond what drives them. Obviously we couldn't learn much about Fenris' past life since he couldn't remember any of it, but I would've liked to hear him talk about mundane things. In DA:O you could talk to Leliana about shoes, Morrigan about silly things she done as a kid, Zevran's various conquests and fetishes, Alistair would take you to one side to have a gossip about the other companions etc. That's one of the biggest things I missed.

I always felt that those moments of "normality" in conversations made the game feel more poignant given the situation they were all in and the seriousness and danger they faced. It was like they were trying desperately to keep hold of some semblance of their former lives before the big bad.

I like being able to talk to my companions in camp or home hub, or whatever, and I like hearing the banters and I like their side quests and their random visits (as long as the setting makes sense)! Why can't they just do it all? :D

I hear you, and DA2 was definitely missing these kinds of conversations. Everything was so "immediate"; Anders HAD to talk to you about his paranoia, and the templars, and the injustices of the world, he just HAD to! Right now! NO, we can't talk about something ELSE, Hawke; do you even care about this?! This is important!! If you love me, you love my Cause!! AGHGHGGH! *Justice explosion*

Hawke: ... But I just wanted to know your favorite flavor of ice cream, sweetie :o
