No, I wasn't too keen on the idea at first either. It felt, idk, too big and too permanently rooted to me. I like this Inn idea you speak of, it'd be nice to have a new environment to meet and greet/downtime/smexytime at. When the companions pointed out just how flimsy and not soundproof the tents were at the camp in Origins, I admit I was a little horrified and wished we could have been intimate elsewhere. Heck we finally get to stay and the Arl's house in our own rooms and don't get to snag our LI's!!!LolaLei wrote...
Am I the only one who really doesn't want a castle? When we get one, I'm hoping it won't be immediately because I really wanna start the game out having to slum it for a while so that we can camp under the stars or find shelter for the night in taverns etc.
Ideally, the home base would change depending on where in Thedas we are at the time. So if we're in a forest somewhere or out in the middle of nowhere then we'd camp, if we were in a small town or city away from the main home hub (which would be the castle) then we'd stay at an inn, or if we were helping someone like the Empress then she'd let us stay at her palace temporarily etc. I'd prefer only to stay in the castle when we're in the area that it's situated, so if we're in Orlais then the castle would be where we'd return to for rest.

But too many people who play these games play them to role-play as themselves being super powerful and important, having a caslte, and a buxom elf chick to bang on the side. Since I see them continuing to cater to the fanboys (and you know what kind of fanboys I mean), they're probably going to stick with things like castles and such that make our characters seem like all-powerful heroes.

Agreed. The thought of gaining control of this bad ass castle from the get go is kinda off putting, especially if our protagonist really is just starting out as noob who takes control of this brand new organisation that no one in Thedas is going to take seriously to begin with anyway. Maybe if, say, the Empress or someone of influence gave us access to it about midway through the game after we'd done a favour for them then that would be fine.
I'd seriously like to see the LI's love scenes happen away from the area where everyone else is. Like, if it happens in a campsite environment then it would be set in a different area, maybe by a lake well away from where everyone is sleeping or whatever. If it happens inside the castle then I'd prefer it to happen somewhere other than the bedroom, lol.

If I'm gonna be a powerful bad ass then I want my protagonist to start out with nothing at all. Literally nothing. No family, a friend/lover that backstabs me or dies, completely skint and generally in a bad situation. And I want it to be a case of mistaken identity.
I hate stoopid castles.

"Apparently the Tevinter mage character (presumably the one from the leak) is a trans character. Some say ftm (female-to-male), others say it depends on the gender of protagonist you pick, meaning the Tervinter mage could either be mtf or ftm. The player only finds out in the romance scene and if you reject the character the rest of the party hates you.
I don't know the origin of the rumor but I suspect is from reddit or 4chan after they read about a trans character from the comics. They're obviously made to mock both lgbts and Bioware. 99% fake imo"
Sounds fake to me, although I'd totally be cool with having a trans love interest. Wouldn't bother me if he/she was mtf or ftm, I'd romance either if I like the character enough.

I agree, it does sound fake, b/c I highly doubt that the entire party would hate you. When have all the party members completely agreed on one thing, all together, other than killing an Archdemon? That being said, I could care less about a character's gender or transistion to one. I romance both genders in my games anyway, so I really don't see how transgender would be a deal breaker for my protag. What can I say? I love to love!LolaLei wrote...
Oh! Someone just told me what the rumour is!

Plus, switching the gender of one companion to either female (originally male) or male (originally female) would take a lot of resources... mind you, they kinda did it with the Bethany/Carver thing since you only got to keep one of them.
Meh, who knows. Hell, if Cullen turned out to be transgender I'd still romance the absolute arse off him!

It is really weird how people try to come up with the most 'shocking' rumours in regards to games and how often the same things circulate. It's like urban legends for video games.LolaLei wrote...
Actually, as I recall the same rumour was going around about Ashley in ME3. People were saying that she'd reveal to Shepard that she used to be male if you romanced her and stuff, that also turned out to be bollocks. I was pretty disappointed actually!
Let's start one about Cullen. "If the protag romances him, but doesn't push him and lets him progress the relationship slowly it is revealed he has the hugest man bits of everyone in the game...if you rush him, you get an avergae joe with almost no stamina."
Or how about "The reason both Sandal and Cullen have been in the two games and share the same hair is because they are actually the SONS of Flemmeth. Sometimes her magic screws up and she gets sons instead of daughters."
