Ohh, I'm so terrified to move to the new Inquisition forum if Cullen does end up being involved! That initial rush of new fans, trolls, and other such frequent posters will make it so hard to keep up with!

I have a random question: if Cullen is announced as a companion, what's our strategy?

Will one of us start the new Official Cullen thread in the DA:I forum before the rabble can?

Will we mass Exodus over to there and weather the hate together?

Will we abandon this thread, or keep going with it?

I like structure. Someone should hold my hand and tell me what to do.

I think if it's "officially" announced as Cullen, Chris or maybe Jessica (forget who's exactly in charge of the forums now) will create a thread topic for the character. Otherwise I put my vote in for R2 to create the thread. She's already been really good at keeping us all updated on any thread specific contests and fun things we have going on, as well as reposting banners and the like for anyone that is looking for one. 

Edit: That is if she wants to of course! Not trying to force you into anything R2, I swear!

Yeah, I think we should wait to see what his role is in DA3. If he's a companion then one of the devs will probably make us a new one in the DA3 companion section of the forum. In which case, if it's too busy in the new thread to have decent discussion then we can always retreat back to this place for sensible Cullen conversation, and use the new one for unadulterated squeeing until it calms down.

If he's just an npc/cameo then I agree with Nikki, we get R2 or someone who's likely to stick around long-term to make the new thread... or we could ask one of the devs to move this thread over into the DA3 companion forums.

is Hawke a noble at this point? Because he could use a PR-type excuse to keep tabs on her. It wouldn't hurt for him to work under the guise of 'keeping up appearances' with the nobles to gain Templar support. It would be a logical thing for Cullen to do, since Meredith has pretty much become a recluse. The Templars already have a dodgy reputation and since Kirkwall is the main seat of Templar power in the East, I would imagine that improving relations with the nobility would be in the order's best interests. It has a sort of political motivation to it.

That's a good idea! Though, in my opinion, I don't think Cullen would do so with a political inspiration; he'd be trying to improve the Order's image because he thinks it's something the Order just need. He'd see Hawke as someone receptive to actively trying to improve things so he'll try harder to get her publicly displaying a positive opinion. Could be fun to write her as trying to un-demonize Meredith a bit even as she knows Meredith really is too fanatical. I didn't consider that. Thanks.

make it wonderfully awkward all around that "people are starting to

Good points R2. I didn't think of it but no, Hawke doesn't have to regularly visit him in the Gallows, though I did already write a scene where both Cullen and Leandra mention the potential fallout of having him stay the night when the ferry was closed and the scandal it could start. So I could build on that. I couldn't think of how to run with it, since it would seem odd to me for the Knight Captain to suddenly be visiting her more regularly. Cullen's not the sort to just start calling on someone and let people think such lurid things without a good reason. Twice A Lady's idea could help with that though.

Thanks gals!  You've all been sooo helpful!! Hopefully this writer's block will end ease up now that I have some idea where I'm going. I have an overarching plan but the stuff that leads to it is where I'm fuzzy.

Next question: I want to... ease Anders' fanaticism. Just a little. I was thinking that since Justice hounds him mercilessly about the affair he has with Hawke in-game, it might be plausible that Anders is less fatigued by his guest when there is no romance. The caveat to that, however is that Anders doesn't move in with Hawke and he said he wanted to leave Darktown because the Templars were closing in. In-game I know it doesn't happen this way, but it seemed logical to me that if he doesn't move into Hawke's estate that the Order does find him. I want to make this A Thing in my story. And Hawke's actions, from a purely professional standpoint mollify Justice. A little. In my playthrough where my mage romanced Anders fullstop, Justice had accused her of not doing enough so to have Anders not involved with her romantically but have her help in their cause - to a limited extent - makes the spirit a little less desperate.

Being an AU, my story is trying to plausibly turn Anders away from what he does in-game. I guess I just can't let go of feeling robbed when playing DA2 in different ways yielded that same result. What I'm aiming for is a whole different Big Bad Thing that's happening and it's all the the Chantry and Templars' fault so I need Justice and Anders to not go "Chantry Boom!" hahaha!

After all that... my questions is: Would it seem plausible that Anders having no romance with Hawke could be guided off that precipice? I know in-game he says she brings him solace but I also know Justice was always harping on Anders about it. So if Justice is less impatient, maybe they don't resort to that. And what does happen is much worse! But it's not by Anders' or Justice's hand.

Oh Maker! A new*Official* Cullen companion thread sounds exhillarating and terrifying all at the same time! lol!

Hipster Cullenites! YES!!! I'm down for tattoos, though it could be easier/less-costly/less-invavsive to just do some kind of charm for a necklace or something...

Jackets? Like the Pink Ladies in Grease? It could be a nice bluish-grey (like his armor) with red and blue trimmings and details with Cullen's name embroidered in gold on the front and the flaming sword on the back? Or just go for black.
