How freakin cool would that be?? I would love to see Aeonar finally. Then, you could have little cameos, like seeing Lily or Jowan there? Outstanding...brushyourteeth wrote...
And thus we have the epic DAIII Aeonar prison break quest!

And, honestly, not something I think we will see. No one wants to watch that. The story will take place when he is rescued or released.LolaLei wrote...
It's something they haven't covered properly in Dragon Age before. I mean, sure some of our characters have been locked up before but never for long and certainly not in a grotty horrible setting in which we see a cut scene of them being tortured/chained up and taunted.

Aeonar is probably going to be about the creepiest thing we've ever seen if we ever get to go there.
True, you could show some of it. Like one of my few vivid memories from BG2 were some of freaky labs, which were sorta like dungeons, probably because they were sooo creepy. And, in DA we've crawled through a dungeon or two, like Howe's torture rooms or Lel's imprisonment in Leliana's song. But, storywise, we'd need some catalyst for storytelling, i.e. how he gets out. That's all I meant.LolaLei wrote...

I dunno, they did something similar in The Witcher 2 and it wasn't too bad.
I guess it's in northern Ferelden somewhere, in a spot where the Veil is weak. I keep picturing Azkaban.LolaLei wrote...

I wonder if it's scary looking there? I hope it is! Where is Aeonar based?

Unfortunately, this is my personal head canon right now, despite Cullen as Knight-Commander featuring my fic.LolaLei wrote...
Thinking about it, he still turned against Meredith and either lets a mage-supporting Hawke escape or allows a bunch of apostates to stay free with Hawke so I'm not sure Lambert would want Cullen on board anyway... perhaps he's been locked up in prison for treason within the Order or because they consider him to be a potential threat/abandoner.No matter which side he chose, he disobeyed a direct order and mutineed. I see that being a big deal... but still with the potential for a happy ending. <3

Aeonar: I'm picturing a merging of those two images, surrounded by very rough seas and lots of creepiness along the approach to it because the veil is so thin.
Please Bioware. Please, please, please take us to Aeonar.
Nope, see above. It's in northern Ferelden somewhere, which I suppose does have a coast. So it could have water.LolaLei wrote...

Is it possible that Aeonar could be in Orlais, or somewhere nearby? I don't recall if they ever mentioned where it was situated.

From the Codex:
When the Imperium occupied the area that is present-day Ferelden, they had two sites dedicated to magical experimentation at the extreme ends of the Imperial Highway. The southern one was the fortress of Ostagar, which looked out over the Korcari Wilds. The northern one was Aeonar, although the exact location is now a secret known only to a handful of Templars. Whatever it was the Tevinter were trying to discover at Aeonar, their work was never completed. The fortress was overrun by disciples of Andraste upon hearing the news of her death. According to legend, it was a massacre-eerily silent, for the invaders caught the mages while all but one of them were in the Fade. The site was left structurally sound but spiritually damaged. Possibly because of this, the Chantry chose to put it to use as a prison. Accused maleficarum and apostates are held in the confines of Aeonar. Those who have a powerful connection to the Fade, and particularly to demons, will inevitably attract something across the Veil, making the guilty somewhat easier to tell from the innocent.

But I think if a templar was going to feature in DA3, luck would dictate it was Cullen. He seems to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
