I saw a leaked screenshot for Witcher 3 too. Man this E3 going to be ridiculous. Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age 3, Witcher 3....and possibly Fallout 4. RPG heaven. Couldn't ask for anything better.

I haven't been this excited for an E3 in awhile. No telling what surprises come. DA3 will be on Frostbite 3. New engine for a new beginning?

For another, the survey comes right out and asks how you'd feel about playing a character that looks like *this* (meaning the subjects of those drawings).

LOL, good point!! Hopefully the game won't do the thing to us where it makes us play our opening moments with a face we end up changing later. That was soooooo weird!!!

And I re-make the same Hawke for every game with just different coloring (I have pictures on my phone of her sliders from the Black Emporium... don't judge me!) so playing that part was always like "Why is that weird lady speaking with Hawke's voice?!?!"

There are some real blinders this time round, I think it's gonna be a good year or two for gaming in terms of actual game releases. Pity I can't say the same for the consoles.

I'm just hoping Dog comes back or some kind of pet companion. I would really like Bioware to feature Dog more in conversations too. In DA2 you could ask a companion something to intervene in a conversation. I'd like to see that with Dog as humor. Maybe make him urinate on some pompous Orlesians lol.

I just have a connection for pet companions. Even in Fallout 3 where you don't get much character development I almost cried when my Dogmeat died. That angered me so much I cheated and loaded an earlier save just so Dogmeat could continue his adventures with me.

edit: darn near the same poses...their potential trailer would be done by now, right? Or maybe it was something for the character creation part of the game?

You know what has me worried about that survey leak? No dwarf character. I think that would pretty much confirm no chance at seeing a place like Kal-Sharok in Orlais. Most likely an engine constraint.

I just don't think that survey leak was close to final. Way too many human companions for a fantasy RPG. I'll bet Morrigan is a companion too. That bottom right character looks like Cullen.

Am I the only who who finds too many human companions boring in a fantasy RPG?

Most probably engine problems. I'd imagine it would cost an immense amount of resources to make a female dwarf for the engine. You have to keep in mind this is the first time they're doing a game on a new engine. I'll bet we don't see a female Quanari either(not the human ones).

I always thought Mass Effect did a great job at mixing your companions up with the rich universe. Asari, Krogan, Turian, etc. It's hard to imagine DA:I will be loaded with human companions as that survey leak shows.

I adore Dagna too, she would be a great companion. I always liked her enthusiasm.

And if there is a Fallout 4 reveal (and I would be interested in seeing details of the HD release of the original Fable (Lost Chapters) that would be great. But DA3 will be top of the list! Shame I can't watch Spike TV :-(

that would be great. i could see a sibling like rapport between them. i hope she wouldn't study him too much. no one likes to be a petri dish.

edit: altho i could see sandal letting her in on sum secrets.

Decided to check the thread for fun and see this.

While I'm not sure exactly to what extent Bioware has market-based research influence them, they're usually never conclusive and often present very basic premises for people completely unrelated to a franchise to evaluate and "feel". Although the concept art might remain legit, characters and priorities shift and you may result with something different.

Survey fillers are extremely picky, they're usually going to answer very generically because the entire purpose is appealing to the majority of people. Unfortunately, dwarves are very niche and--although BioWare might not do this--can be "concealed".

For example, tald old guy with the spear? His entire concept could be about  Qunari but the average person who'll fill the survey wouldn't know what a Qunari is and thus had the concept art redrawn to appear human and get their beliefs on the character's design and description without having to explain the entire backstory.

In addition to this, concept art doesn't mean it's only for companions. They might be evaluating concept art for key characters and antagonists over some companions who were still in the pipeline at the time, an antagonist's design is just as vital as the player must recognize them.

Now, I'm not sure if BioWare does deception and I wouldn't like to hold up some false hope but that doesn't mean to become discouraged, surveys often mean very little when it comes to character design and descriptions. I've had to do quite a bunch for other companies, some which half the presented designs never made it past development.

About the dwarven city under Orlais, shameless plug here where I talk about the Stone Golem in Dragon Age 2 which mentions the Stone beneath Orlais and a bunch of other things.

I completely get where you're coming from, deuce, that the new engine and lack of resources might be an excuse, but what those excuses essentially amount to is "We're selling you an incomplete game" and I'm pretty fed up with it. :/
