It's probably wishful thinking, but this totally made me think of Cullen (then again, what doesnt these days) I just remember DG being very specific about his worries about including Cullen, and going against all the many many fanfics out there that have a designated personality type and backstory already established for him. 

I say wishful, because that would mean that Cullen is indeed in the game, and that we're going to see him today! Even if they take a totally different route w/ him, I would absolutely love to see what his story turns out to be.

As someone who didn't think Ander's was out of character in DAII after listening to all of his banter with Justice in Awakening, seeing how he gave you disapproval points for daring to do chanrty board missions, and hearing some of his banters with Nathaniel... I think the devs know how to handle their characters, and I haven't been dissapointed by one yet. So I doubt I'll be disappointed this time. I fell in love with the snippets of Cullen's personality we've seen so far, so I'm sure I'll love him in DA:I no matter what more is revealed/how they've built onto him.

(If he's a companion. I need to remember that IF.) 

Whether or not he'll make me angry at times has yet to be seen, but hey, all the DA II characters except Varric make me angery at times. Which is why I need a Pimp Hand Button. At least Hawke gets to verbally pimp hand them at times.

I'm not sure he understands what fanfiction is... I've been involved in fandoms where the characters died or, more commonly, were canonically romantically involved with other characters; nevertheless, people still wrote them with other characters. No fanfic writer believes her fanfic is canon... that is the whole POINT of fanfic. You make up your own version of things. 

No, this only makes me think they've done something that goes against common (universal throughout the entire fandom) belief. In other words... Hawke is dead, or an important LI like Isabela has left Hawke and is back to adventuring. 

Alternatively, it could mean that the writers created their own canon: i.e. Alistair is king in everyone's games.

Something like "Cullen retires from the templars and marries a peasant girl" is not going to make fanfic writers mad. Beleive me, Mr. Gaider, people will still write fanfic about Hawke and Cullen, or the Inquisitor and Cullen, or whomever. In fact, they are doing it now, silly.

Anyway the DG quote could be about a lot of things ,everybody has a strong opinion about mages, templars , the chantry , all the LIs , their Hawke and Warden , the OGB situation etc...
They have to ****** some people off...
I think Morrigan will be back , and some people will scream in horror.
I hate the OGB for example ...I may faint in horror if he become something very special ,but well we'll see.

I hate that storyline, too. That was the problem with DA:O; if you didn't become attached to a character (Morrigan) the story still made them very, very significant. (Thank god I like Alistair.)

A lot of Avatar: TLAB and Zuko/Katara fans blew a GASKET when Katara ended up with Aang in canon and went on this huge crusade against Aang/Katara fans, at least over at DeviantArt. There' was reports of any Aang and Katara artwork en mass for 'inappropriate content', nevermind the art was fine. 

...And the BSN is already a bit of a cess pit, so I can certainly understand where he's coming from.

*Nods* I actually thought it was a figure of speech. There are plenty of fans (me included) who hold many characters dear and/or strongly support particular plots, hence some choices that developers have made might be surprising and difficult to accept. That's probably why he compared it to fanfiction authors losing their creations. At least that's how I understood his comment. I'm expecting some jawdropping twists but it could be that he is just trying to prepare himself for potential outburst.

Even though I like Morrigan I can definitely live without ogb. Scratch that, I will feel relieved if ogb never makes an appearance in future installments :]
