You know... they don't mention mages or templars at all. They just say war, linking it to "fires above" which sounds like the veil rip. I'm thinking veil rip is the "big theme" for this trailer. Calling it for the pool.

Hawke's long gone though, so probably not.

I don't think it is. Here's a pic of the flag. I'll have to look through the game heraldry.VampOrchid wrote...

I was thinking maybe they were already in the middle of the Mage vs. Templars war when the "Big Bad" decided that was the perfect opportunity to come down and sow further chaos, whilst they're already weakened and chaotic themselves.R2s Muse wrote...

I'm also thinking they are in the middle of a war when boom! Then depending on which side you pick, may decide which way the world turns out...

Could be, since they talk about alliances crumbling. But, the above quote is VO for Varric's scene, suggesting that all the dead dudes are due to the "war" and were presumably touched "by the fires above."Lord Xendria wrote...

But I was also thinking for the purposes of our E3 pool. I think Veil rip wins. They didn't even focus on Inquisition... only Aaron Flynn said that word.

Yeah, I'd say that probably the situation too. Hopefully we won't be chucked right into the heart of the big bad straight away, I wanna see what things are like before everything gets a million times worse.

i can't print screen....
also in the cass/map shot there is a ...magazine? off to the left. with sum guy on it. and words....
"Hard in Hightown" was my first guess.
And Varric and the random body.. I think it could be any random soldier's body, he's probably just mourning the events being unfolded. He knew a lot of people besides Hawke 'n Co. too.

No, the interview hasn't happened yet. Says it'll happen at 5:00 PST on All Access Live. Bioware will talk, I figured they meant Aaryn Flynn.

Yeah, I figured maybe there'd be little opportunity to appreciate the beautiful scenery if everything's gone to sh!t.
Was also wondering if the probable masquerade could even happen in such a setting. I'm sure there'll be some people looking to pretend like nothing's happening in Thedas. But I'm wondering how that's possible. I want a masquerade!

After watching trailer we still don't know what inquisition actually is.... It may be depicted there but without us really knowing :] I would also go for veil ripping for the purpose of the pool.R2s Muse wrote...

At the end of the Middle Ages, the concept and scope of the Inquisition was significantly expanded, now in the historical context of the turmoils of the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Counter-Reformation. Its geographic scope was expanded to other European countries,[1] as well as throughout the Spanish and Portuguese empires in the Americas, Asia and Africa.[2] Its focus now came to include the persecution of sorcery (an aspect almost entirely absent from the Medieval Inquisition), making it one of the agents in the Early Modern witch-hunts.
The institution persisted after the end of the witch-trial period in the 18th century, but was abolished outside of the Papal States after the Napoleonic wars. The institution survives as part of the Roman Curia, but it was renamed to Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office in 1904."
This was quoted from wikipedia...
Now since Bioware seems to follow Religion to a degree with in this game...I'm assuming, maybe this will play a role
