True, his storyline and POV couldn't be more relevant given the circumstances. It's just the fact that he's a templar and technically so is Cass... mind you, if Cullen isn't a Templar anymore then maybe they'll just play his specialisations as just warrior skills instead? Or visa versa.

They could go w/Warrior skills. I don't see why not. But maybe in skill sets Templars and Seeker are very different. So he could be Templar and she Seeker and both bring something new to the table?

It would work for me. Are they both gonna be sword and shield? Cuz laidlaw said the dw woud be too much resources. So i'm not counting on that. And I can't imagine either one being two handed.

True, just because they both take lyrium doesn't mean a Seeker will have the same skills as a templar. Presumably Cassandra would've had additional training/skills that only Seekers have access too anyway, otherwise they'd be no better than glorified templars.

Honestly, Twice a Lady, I dk anymore. I took it for granted Cass would be, but I'm not so sure anymore. And no, it has not been confirmed.

I don't think Morrigan will be a companion either...jus cuz. And same for Varric. I think they play important roles, but....

I think the reason those three were specifically choosen to be in the trailer was simply because DAI looks soooo different that they wanted to bring some familiarity into it, to show us that it's still a Dragon Age game and to show us how much the graphics have improved the characters facial features/textures/etc.

Excellent point, Lola!

LolaLei, see that's what I thought too, Cassandra has a lot of experience backing her and the acolades to match, which is why I think of her more in an 'Anderson' type role mentoring our Protag, rather than traipsing around the country side playing backseat driver to the our protag as a party member.

But then I think, 'hey in KOTOR we had that snobby Jedi girl follow us around, even though she was clearly much more experienced and decorated.' ...sorry, can't for the life me remember her name. Bastia? Bastila?

True. I suppose it depends on how badly the writers wanted to include her. I could totally see her as a mentor rather than a companion though, perhaps she'd stay back at base and give us orders/quests etc every time we returned, or contact her via those sending/seeing stones?

Well, at least after that trailer, the bsn has other things to talk abt than cullen.

Morrigan threads everywhere. Varric's chest hair. OGB everywhere! I'm wondering if ppl think that these characters are for sure in game as companions now?

I used to think that being "experienced" would be a problem, too, until I remembered Anders. In Awakenings, he was level 27 or so? He gets reduced back to level 3 or 4 or so in DA2 when you first meet him. So, they've done it before, as far as in game ability is concerned. Making a compelling story for why a veteran would follow a greenhorn? Needs to be good.

I think a lot of people do, I reckon if any out of the three are then it'll be Cassandra and/or Varric. I do think that maybe the Qunari/Tal-Vashoth dude might be a companion too.

Well, I hope Varric is. I had seen a quote somewhere where DG had said he almost regretted not making Varric an LI for DA2 because of how the fans reacted to him and wanted it. Maybe this will be his chance?

True but he didn't have a full movie made about him and he's not the hero of a country like Cassandra is. Thinking about it, even if the Divine did kick the bucket that's still may not enough for her to abandon her duties to travel around with us since I could imagine her wanting to stay in the thick of battle to protect whatevers left.

Bastilla! :D She was more experienced but she was still a teenager. That's how she came across to me anyway. Not that it mattered much in my game, since I just dragged Carth and Canderous with me everywhere I went.

I'm conflicted about Cassandra. On the one hand, I'm not sure that she'll be a companion, at least due to what I've seen so far in the trailer, but then I've got that feeling in my gut that she will be, which isn't neccassarily a bad thing but it does take up a companion slot that could go to Cullen.

But David Gaider said recently (after the last comic came out) that Varric isn't romanceable because he vowed to only love Bianca. Granted, that would throw some "angst" into a potential romance arc, but he didn't seem keen on the idea of ruining Varric's vow to Bianca.

Yeah, it's all going to come down to story and if it makes sense. Without more details... I think all we can do is guess. I was most concerned about the "experienced" thing back when I was concerned about Cullen running around with a level 1.

Also, though, I actually see Cassandra's movie as a reason for her not being a companion. She's had her spotlight...

I may be the only person alive who doesn't want to romance Varric. I love him, but as friend!

I was thinking, what if the new protagonist actually has something to do with the dragons? Not necessarily dragon blood since that's Alistair/the Theirin's "thing" or dragon hunters/slayers because that's Cassandra/the Pentaghast's "thing", but maybe he/she had some encounter with one that leads us to take up the role as the new hero.

It just makes me wonder since those images on the DA website have the man holding out a helmet with a dragon on, and holding a dragon sword. Let's look up the word "Dragon" in different languages and see if any of them would make for a decent surname.

For me, the most compelling thing that points to Cass being a companion is still the customizability presentation that included her.

Exactly, I can't imagine what else could be left to know about her really. We already know/saw her parents and siblings were killed by mages, we know she was once labelled a traitor and blamed for her superiors death, we know she kicked arse and saved the Divine, punched a dragon and killed a massive pride demon, we know she warmed a little to mages after meeting Regaylan and we know that she recently ran around Kirkwall shouting bull**** as she looked for Hawke and the Warden.

Me, too. He's cool and all, but I see him more as a bro. I don't mind him being a game, but if he's a LI, it means that there's one less LI spot to fulfill. There's likely to only have 2 LIs, and if he's one that would mean that the other one might not be Cullen.

That also counts against her though, why show us a companion years before the game comes out? Seems like a massive spoiler to me, even if she does seem like the obvious choice.

Ah, yes, that was when they were talking about different armor looking different on the different characters to keep them still looking like their identifiable roles, right? They had the Grey Warden and the Seeker that looks suspiciously like Cassandra.

Yup, I have to agree, that is pretty good evidence, unless they decide to give us a different Seeker companion.

But then, maybe they're not worried about that kind of spoiler. Apparently MDarrah was already saying she'd be in DA3 back before DA2 came out! LOL #worstkeptsecret

Yeah, especially since the exact same concept art of the mysterious Seeker was painted on the Bioware elevator door, and tweeted to the world that it was Cassandra!  LOL
