I'm not even sure they are all attacking each other, this could just be each faction responding to the veil tear. If you notice during the trailer those flashes of green light indicates that this is happening as the "fire falls from the skies". As Morrigan says none are free from it (or whatever her exact words were).

Those big flaming balls look like they're coming out of the sky (the veil rip). I'm kind of wondering if it won't be like the Warden's story in Origins where you have to rally the forces to defeat the darkspawn. Except this time it's nations, and it's veil rips and demons and stuff.

The Dales certainly looks like it has fallen off the face of Thedas. There's that huge trench in the Western Approach (Abyssal Reach - abyss...hmmm). The Anderfelds also looks like it may become a chasm as well.

The Anderfelds has the constant Darkspawn issue. The Dales was once given to the elves from Andraste but is now invaded by Orlais. What's said about the Abyssal Reach is it's a large cold desert where one of the largest Blights took place where Darkspawn erupted FROM that chasm.

It seems that everything that has fallen so far has something to do with the Maker and the Blights. The Frostback Mountains have not been touched - which I find interesting considering they house Andraste's Ashes.

Someone in another thread noted that the flag the Qunari is standing by bears a striking resemblance to the Dalish flag. Very striking.

Another poster speculated that maybe that particular shot was in Rivain. The Only place where Humans, Qunari and Elves leave in peace together.

Didn't Cass stab Orlais in the trailer? She sure does have a bad habit of stabbing harmless paper.

No, she stabbed pretty far south of Orlais, next to where the Dales should be.

This is exactly what I speculated the story to go and that trailer sure did leave some credence to that speculation. It's hard to know for sure on such a short trailer though.

Yeah, LilNikki posted that map. I was trying to compare it.

That said, wow, interesting stuff Phantom!

It's like a giant sinkhole. instead of darkspawn...or demons? erupting up, they're dragging it down. something is weird.

The "Our fragile alliances crumble to dust" line is what really presses the "sh*t is going down all over the place" issue for me. Especially with how sinister the Qunari looked in that scene.

I think the fireballs from the sky can be credited more towards magic, than the Veil Rip. The only thing we saw coming out of the sky was the green orbs of demons. As far at the trailer being called "the Fires Above" I think it's alluding to the dangers of whatever is coming from the heavens/veil/whatever, than actual fire.

Absolutely no way will this game be based solely in Orlais. I just can't see it. Thedas looks like it's in complete chaos and nobody is hiding from that. It sure sounds like you'll be in a position of power too. Someone in power is going to need to control armies/alliances. It would not shock me to see Bioware have these little RTS element to the game where you actually march armies for a specific story moment. That would be cool. Also, possibly a castle. Yea...definitely someone with authority.

Okay, in the upper left corner of the map, it looks like they're using something to represent the forces in that area, is that the Tevinter symbol? and on the upper center of the map, it looks like a Griffon, so perhaps those are the Grey Wardens? And the upper right, that seems to be a Chantry symbol or a Seeker symbol? I'm not sure. But that lends some idea to who might be fighting or if forces are rallying against the veil tears.

Makes me wonder why a supposed neutral faction would be caught up in this in the first place.

^I agree, I can't see us just being in Orlais the entire game. Most of it, probably, but the entire? No way.
I'll be sad if we don't get to finally see Tevinter and see just how bad it's apparently said to be.

I thought that Qunari was "The Iron Bull" from the survey leak, but I guess he could be the leader of some Qunari forces.

Comparing Cassandra's map to a map of Thedas, in the upper left corner where I thought it was Tevinter forces... That's supposed to be the Tirashan area, which looks like forest on the Thedas map. But on Cassandra's map, it looks like a big gaping hole, kind of like the Dales. Unless her map's forest design just looks like big gaping holes...?

Perhaps that trailer actually showed different locations. If the speculation that the Qunari guy was in Rivain--the only place where it makes sense for him to be standing next to a Dalish flag.

We got Cass in Orlais. Varric in the Free Marches/Kirkwall. The Qunari in Rivain. And maybe the PC in the Anderfels?

Cassanda: Alright, and then we manuver our forces around this coffee stain that represents Val Royeaux, and move towards this spot where I stuck my gum that stands for Nevarra.

When I first saw the trailer I thought it was almost obvious those were different locations. I could've swore I saw the Kirkwall symbol behind Varric when I first saw the trailer too.

Well, Wieshaupt would be the Anderfels, so there's that!

I've always speculated the veil rip would happen in Orlais due to someone manipulating the war. Then other nations politically would see an opportunity to attack a powerful but vulnerable nation in Orlais.Fereldan isn't exactly buddies with Orlais and neither is Tevinter Imperium.

You could see DA:I being a game with multiple plots at hand. You have the political turmoil with possible attacking nations on Orlais, the mages vs. templars, a veil rip and someone manipulating the events all into one game.

Yeah, I reckon the heart of Orlais will be the "hot zone", like how London was in ME3.

Night! :D

So um...anyone else staring obsessively at GIF sets of Varric/Cassandra/Morrigan and dreaming about how f*cking awesome CC is going to be?

I feel like the protag of this game is going to go through so much angst.

Like, an inhuman amount of angst (that makes no sense)

All that just from watching them struggle in a sandstorm. I'm just a horrible person that likes to watch the virtual world burn.
