Looks like darkspawn bodies to me...LolaLei wrote...
Were they dark spawn though? They could've been demons around Varric's scene.

I guess live darkspawn look like mutilated bodies, so it can be my mistake
I guess it could be burnt bodies after the fires and meteor attack....

What I don't understand is all the sword planted around.
You don't leave your sword like this in a war ....and the body bags.
edit : I almost want to create a speculation thread with everything we "know".
Dragons , seeker , warden etc...
But I'm the kind of person who tends to be all over the place very fast...
And it always turn into a crazy theory thing.

LOL and note that all the swords seem to be the same model.Reznore57 wrote...
Don't know if you look there are smoke coming from the bodies ,and well the fire everywhere is kinda obvious.

Yeah, that is confusing. I'd say maybe to mark where they fell, using a sword like a cross in the ground or a tombstone? Unless they just did it to look cool.Reznore57 wrote...

So here's my geeky contribution to the map analysis. I plotted the positions of the map markers on the real map, plus have close ups of the various markers. My current thought is:
Marker 1: Circle of Magi (circle symbol like heraldry); dwarves (sorta paragon-ish); qunari? (but seems odd direction)
Marker 2: Grey Wardens (up close, the fig wears the winged helmet); maybe: Chantry/Andraste? Tevinter?
Marker 3: Def Seeker symbol
Marker 4: No idea. Looks like a tower to me.
Also of interest...
1. No one is in Val Royeaux. So these are all forces nearby/closing in.
2. Whose batter ram in the Frostbacks? Or has it just not been placed yet?

See also the actual map, with markup from myself and Avejaded.

Ok, I yield :] I did not encorporate all the facts into equation, cause for some reason I did not place the first battlefield after the meteor strikes and assumed that fires around were for decorationDirgegun wrote...
I thought they were just burnt bodies too, admittedly. They don't really look like Darkspawn, in my opinion, at least.

You could still be right. We don't have any idea if they've redesigned them or not. Though I would of figured a redesign would look scarier. However, I might also say, about burnt bodies. The armor doesn't look damaged at all. All shiney and no blackened soots and such.neonmoth wrote...

I was wondering if they died another way, and it's just a very badly decomposed body.
Looked again, just realized the rather big crack in the skull.

As for the lack of soot on the armor, they could miss the detail or maybe it was a short time exposure to high temperature...

I was wondering if it was the Merchant's Guild. But it could be anyone, even a stranger, and him just hunkering down in sorrow and seriousness because of the tragedy and death toll and sh!tstorm events have taken. 'Cuz I think he's a nice guy, even if it was someone he didn't know, I think he'd still have a similar reaction.

"Allan Schumacher has suggested that the scenes in the trailer aren't necessarily representative of anything that's in the game - it was made by people going into the engine and manipulating assets/characters/etc. It's not necessarily showing cutscenes or events that are definitely going to happen, so all the speculation about who the bodies are could be for nothing.
It could be, for example, that they've just got [random dead body asset #2] from some other scene, added a flame effect then put Varric walking in. For all we know he's just there to show the "wow there's a war going on" vibe."
I'll see if I can find the original source.

In other news, had ANOTHER Dragon Age dream today, again with Cullen. This time he was in a video discreetly, and we were all trying to figure out how to determine if it was really him. I also woke up to remember that this game is open world, and my want for there to be horses in game increased ten-fold. How do you guys think we'll be getting around the map? Boats? Convoy of horses? Surfing a wave of blood and bodies?

It might just be the sadistic side in me, but I can totally imagine the devs just sitting back w/ their fan tear laced coffee, watching the forums for speculation and screen-cap dissection, and laughing their asses off at how completely off base we all are.

Apparently it isn't full open world like Skyrim, it's just a bunch of really big levels. Chances are we will probably just run around it again, like usual.

Ok, here's the thread where Allan mentions about the trailer:
http://social.biowar...x/16835776&lf=8
I love how some people are so entitled, they think they can tell the people that made the trailer that it's not in-engine graphics <_<
I took a peek into one of the threads on the DAI forums, and it just seems to be a lot of "Morrigan looked like a haggard old witch!" and "Cassandra has a man jaw!" Out of all that beautiful scenery, the crazy detail of the wet skin of the Qunari and the vast possibilites of places and events we will be seeing, that is what you focus on?
