Black Whirlwind, Henpecked Hou and that scatty old inventor (can't remember his name) were my favourites, they were the comedy relief.

KANG! Kang The Mad! Oh I love Kang! He was Lord Lao, an inventor god and was cast down for daring to make devices that man could use to artificially improve their abilitities. I scrounged together every configuration and used that furnace until it had nothing left to give. And then I freed Lord Lao, which is no easy feat in that little bitty flyer against those energy beams! When I finally did it, I was nearly crying in happiness and wooping so loud, I woke the house up. At 4a.m.! hahaha!

"Nice job with all the kicking and punching..." ~ Kang

He was Lord Lao?! I didn't even know that!!! Hell, I don't think he even knew that LOL! Now I've gotta look this up on YouTube!

He was! You only find it out if you free him. Which takes a series of increasingly difficult flyer missions to accomplish. The last one is haaaaaaaard! But that was why Kang was so obssessed about uncovering Lao's secrets. He was, in essence, trying to free himself. Or his mind rather.his godly half of it anyway. it's why he's off the rails and random. And has ideas for things that he has no clue how to operate.

What does he say/do once you free him?

So if we are going to have an awful lot of companions, let's say 10. Wouldn't it be great if we could send some on off-screen missions, where they have to inspect a certain situation. So when you come back from uncovering another ancient secret, they are back and inform you with the newest update.

I would really like it if the companions become strong independent individuals. Sending them away could have positive or negative consequences. Depending on their personality and the sort of quest you send them on. It would also help with the perspective of time, since they are literally away and have to come back, so you have to wait .

Oh God, I think I'm rambling :D

Rambling is good here! Rambling is A-ok. :D I personally feel that having the PC have to wait for a certain companion to return from a mission would be a pain in the backside. It sounds kind of like a more in-depth version of the Mediterranean Defense mini-game in AC where Ezio could send off recruits to do missions to retake cities. I do think that companions having their own stuff to do is a neat idea though. Maybe it could be initiated from camp? Having it take real time, however would make me grumpy even though I know that's realistic. But seeing how these missions affect the companions, rather than just gaining skill points for them, would be amazing though!

I like the idea of them doing there own thing if you don't take them with you on quests. for example, the protagonist and 3 companions go off to do a bunch of quests, when we get back to base the companions that we didn't use have gathered intel and stuff, but we wouldn't see them leave or have them unobtainable, we'd just know they they've been doing things "behind the scenes". If that makes sense?

That, I don't actually recall. I just remember him saying, with quite a bit of bemusement, that he was Lord Lao.

It does. It reminds me a bit of the ending of Mass Effect 2, which I believe was fantastic. You could give Garrus the lead of the fire team and it would work, while giving it to someone else might have been a mistake. Such things shouldn't only be possible in the end, but also during other missions and quests. It would be rather odd if there was a war going on and your companions have to wait are your homebase :D So bring them along, assign them to a specific task and deal with the consequences.

Oh yeah! That does make sense. I could see that working. If you're not going to bring them with you, then assign them something to do while you're gone. That I'd like. But sending them off on missions and having to wait for their return before you can take them somewhere? That I wouldn't want. Whatever they've got to go do, should be resolved by the next time the PC returns to camp or castle or what have you. Until the game throws another captured LI/friend/sibling quest because Bioware will do it. You know they will!

Yeah, the wait for them was a stretch too far. Though being on a different mission on the same time and coming back (to the castle?) could work out fine! :)

I think it'd be really awesome if these were quests that the companions really needed to do or at least felt they needed to do and they're going to go with or without you. But if you need them on a mission, they'll wait a bit. Then when they do go, if you go with them, you're NOT the PC, that companion is. And the experience is all theirs. So your PC gets nothing for helping other than friendship or rivalry points. If you refuse to go along with them when they go, the mission can turn out differently for them than if you had gone and it can either be a good or bad turn in their regard of your friendship because they wanted you along or because you pushed them to take you - it works both ways. I imagine Morrigan would be quite peeved if she said she had to go do something and you insisted you go with her.

@R2: Thanks! I dunno why my brain hatched that dialogue but it just rolled right through so I wrote it. ^_^

Edit: Lola, check it out! Funny Kang moments!

I think so too! I detested it when I'd gotten used to having all my assassins available and using Arrow Storm to terrorize guards and then I'd have to send them all away to keep things under Assassin control, only to try and use my Arrow  Storm again and be like "Wot?" When it didn't work because I'd forgotten that I sent my pupils off to do Assassiny things. lol!

Hey Vamp! :blink:I had the same reaction. Been trying to catch up on page 2000. We discussed Iron Bull to some extent and compared him to Black Whirlwind from Jade Empire. Apparently Jessica Merizan overheard the wrtiers pit talking about him being naked... How are you?

So, now that we've seen the trailer and discovered that the survey leak was once again correct do you suppose it's worth us all taking a look at the leak again to see what else could be correct etc?

Definitely! I'm even more curious about Sera, Iron Bull, and Dorian now (hopefully he gets a better look) and the possibility of having Cole as a companion, too.

I'd say those particular characters seem even more likely as companions now.

I just thought of something. It's looking to me like Cass may not be a companion... even less like a LI *sad face* But the only other "mentioned" female in the survey was Sera. There was also scribe girl... I wonder if scribe girl could be a companion? If not, who/what will the other female LI be?

It seems to me like Cullen and Dorian will be the male LI. I would swap out Dorian for Cole or Iron Bull in a heartbeat though!

I hope if Cass is a companion I can murder-knife her, and I hope if she's not a companion I can murder-knife her. :)
