So, now that we've seen the trailer and discovered that the survey leak was once again correct do you suppose it's worth us all taking a look at the leak again to see what else could be correct etc?
Speaking of... I did finally get to see that. Of course I wanna see more! I thought Varric looked goood! Cassandra was still pretty, though more sporty looking. I think DA2 Cass looked more feminine in the face. I almost didn't recognize her as Cassandra. Morrigan, was... OMG! Wow! I LOVE her look!. So gorgeous as she was written to be! I do wish the mouth animation was better but I suspect this was a CGI movie they snapped together to show us the gist of the story. Given what Mori says about the "fires above" and that she uses the term "Asunder" I am pretty convinced now that a major Veil rip or multiple rips are what's happening here. Since Morrigan asks will we stand against the darkness or be the final end, I think our actions in game are supposed to either have Veil restoring ramifications or we can make choices that further tear it apart. I also suspect the Qunari may play a part because they feel they have to stop the Veil tearing and feel only conquering us and stoppjing everything and controlling Thedas is the only way to contain the situation. This could play into how our actions shape the world too. The more the PC sunders the Veil with their decisions, eventually the Qunari attack. If you prove that you're fixing it, they may stay out of matters. Just my thoughts. We could trot out the survey again, just for giggles and perspective.

Definitely! I'm even more curious about Sera, Iron Bull, and Dorian now (hopefully he gets a better look) and the possibility of having Cole as a companion, too.
I'd say those particular characters seem even more likely as companions now.
I just thought of something. It's looking to me like Cass may not be a companion... even less like a LI *sad face* But the only other "mentioned" female in the survey was Sera. There was also scribe girl... I wonder if scribe girl could be a companion? If not, who/what will the other female LI be?
It seems to me like Cullen and Dorian will be the male LI. I would swap out Dorian for Cole or Iron Bull in a heartbeat though!
Cole? I don't really think Cole would make much of love interest. *shudders* I think he would be the creepiest romance ever.
It appears that the trailer is depicting things from both the English and German versions of the game description, we also know certain things about the state of Thedas to be true due to some of the novels/comics/etc and that interview with Aaryn Flynn (I've put the relevant parts in bold):
English version of the description:
"The great nation of Orlais, the most powerful empire in Dragon Age, tears itself apart in civil war. The stout men and women of Ferelden struggle to recover and reclaim their nation from the horde of vile Darkspawn that lay waste to its lands a decade ago. The Chantry, the once-unified faith of the Dragon Age world stands divided. The Templar Order has broken away, claiming the church has become too lax in policing the dangerous powers of the mages. The mage Circles have rebelled, believing the Templars have become too strict, too zealous in their duties, and too quick to slaughter those who dare step out of line. The World of Dragon Age is on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicenter of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry's leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world to chaos. From the ashes of that explosion, something new arises- the Inquisition. As the Inquisitor, it falls to you to build your power and martial your forces, uncover secrets and build connections across the world. You must explore forgotten places, uncover ancient mysteries and uproot those who would destroy the delicate fabric of the world." German version of the description:
"A portal between the worlds unleashes hords of demons in the land, civil wars rip apart nations and the corruption is limitless. Someone is behind the shadows, drawing the threads which destroy the world. Time has come for the Inquisition. Take the Inquisitor's cloak and lead the only force able of bringing light into the darkness. Choose the direct method and gather your armies, send spies into the shadows or engage in a political war, make friends and use your connections indirectly: it is up to you how you lead the inquisition. But you'll have to take lead of it from the beginning. Make your player a rogue, warrior or mage and set up your crew from up to ten (!) complex companions to lead them against those who attack you by systematically spying on, revealing and destroying them."
So, what else could be true? In the survey leak we have descriptions of the following characters, likely to be potential companions given the descriptions: Cole- "A long time ago, a young man died a cruel death is dark place. And now, somehow, there is Cole. Was he a spirit or a demon? Is he human now? Cole is not sure it matters any more. Hounded by memories that aren't his own, invisible in a world he can stalk like a shadow, the rogue must decide between joining the living or preying upon them." Dorian- "Dorian Pavus is a Tevinter magister. The title conjures fear of arcane master who once enslaved nations. Dorian may wield the power of the magisters, but he delights in not being what you would expect. Brazen and clever, this outcast is on a crusade to rid his homeland of its corruption." The Iron Bull- "The Iron Bull is a long way from home, and he prefers it that way. A slap in the face of typically humorless Qunari (Kossith), he loves drinking, killing and looting- but not necessarily in that order. The head of a vicious mercenary company, he's known for excellent pay and brutal punishment. It's been a decade-long party, but the Bull may find that old loyalties die hard." Sera- "Sera is young, frenetic, and a brat through and through. She revels in the athleticism of being an elf, of being different. But her culture isn't elven, or for that matter strictly human. It's the underbelly of the city in her network of rogues; what you do it more important than where you're from, and friends open more doors than titles. Robs from the rich to keep for herself."
Could these four be companions? At first some of the devs claimed it was fake, other said it was full of out of date and/or obsolete information, but so far it's been spot on based on what we've seen and heard ranging from the name of the game itself "Dragon Age 3 Inquisition", to the basic plot "you play as the Inquisitor, trying to get to this Fade reach in the sky and just figure out what's going on", AND more importantly how Thedas is pretty much at war with itself.
Moving on, we have a group of pictures from the survey leak, two of which we now know is the protagonist based on the outside and sihouette of the male that showed up not only in the World of Thedas lore book, but the trailer itself:
The remaining characters shown in the pictures comprise of two people we already know (Cassandra and Cullen), an elf that is likely to be Sera from the survey character descriptions, and three characters that are unknown (the Grey Warden, Scroll girl and trident man):
Are all these people in the pictures also companions? Probably not. I don't think "scribe girl" is since she isn't dressed for fighting, nor does she have a weapon or seem as though she's "battle ready", I'd say she'd probably be an npc who perhaps works closely with the protagonist (like Traynor in ME3). As for the Grey Warden and "trident man" i'm not sure. They could be npc leaders of their own factions, in which case it could be possible that Cullen is also an npc leader of a faction (the templars?) However, we have discussed in great detail why most of us feel that he probably wouldn't want anything to do with the rebel templars (at least, not after the way they were depicted in the Asunder novel). Cassandra is likely to be a companion, although there are arguments to be made that she too could just be an important npc.
Agreed on the Scribe thought. Maybe she's like the Inquisitor's right hand, who stays back at the castle and manages his/her political affairs.
It'd be a bit odd for the leaders of such important factions to just up and leave their charges to travel around w/ the Inquisitor, so I'm not sure about that. I mean I know Cassandra seemed to be leading the Seeker's charges in the trailer, but maybe she's just an important officer, that takes time away from her underlings to assist the Inquisitor because we end up helping her w/ a Seeker specific conflict? But the top of the pyramid person wouldn't just run off like that, at least I don't think they would.
The thing that gets me, is that the survey leak has been spot on every time. However, the thing that is always up for debate and subject to change are the companions so I guess is anything is out dated or obsolete it'll be some of those characters.
I reckon that DAI will take place no more than 5 years after the Varric/Cassandra interrogation. It seems most likely that'll it'll be a year or two after though.
I thought DA2 spanned only 10 years? A "decade ago" would imply DAI takes place soon after DA2. Like right after or soon after Cassandra is done interrogating Varic, something happens and that is the start of DAI

Hawke spent 7 years in Kirkwall from the time he/she arrived, until he/she leaves. 3 years later Cassandra interrogates Varric, just prior to the interrogation the events of the Asunder novel happen. So by the time we pick up DAI it'll probably be a year or so after... or maybe even straight after. Either way, that still counts as a decade.
No, Darrah said something on the Twitter awhile back abt when DAI would jump off. And iirc, it was right away.
Mind you, that was awhile ago. Things may have changed, but alot of ppl had questions abt that, and he said no time skips in regards to when DAI would start.
If we meet him to recruit..I'm gonna be like, "........oh...hai...What's up w/me? Noooo, what's up w/You?!?"
I'd be like "Cole, have you been watching me shag? And I could've sworn I felt someone watching me whilst I was taking a dump this morning... please don't do that."

Could be worth asking again, but I doubt they'd answer it.
Maybe the Inquisitors have a lead on some magic-y stuff. Or, a lead on the Wardens and their magic-y stuff.
Somebody's up to something. But the image just reminds me of Dagna. In human form. Maybe for the survey, but something abt it.
Good point, I'd love for that to be Dagna. Didn't Dave of Canada mention that sometimes they'll get the artists to draw up human versions of certain characters in order to help "non-fans" familiarise themselves... or something like that?

oh, god. that guy creepin' around the camp/castle. then cattle show up dead and weirdly drained of all blood. I just..ugh.
