Man, imagine the things modded could create with the Frostbite 3 toolset!!
Awesome job, Lola. That's SO totally him. I was particularly struck by the red cape (RED CAPE! AGAIN!) which I found hard to capture in a screenshot.LolaLei wrote...

Heh heh. This guy gets around. Grand Cathedral. Dusty deserts. Fade... *rubs hands* Can't wait!
Fade wormholes FTW! You know that's how the magisters got into the black city. #headcanonacceptedmeanieweenie
Well done, Lola! And indeed, he does get around. Maybe he can fly with that cape! Or wormholes in the Fade.

Yeah, that's exactly what made me upset yesterday cause they scared Allan Schumacher. Bunch of grumpy buzz killers. Thankfully he came back :happy:R2s Muse wrote...
D'awww... poking around in the DA3 invariably just makes me sad now. I can't believe the devs have to defend themselves for such a kickass trailer. http://social.biowar...x/16852567&lf=8
I just wanted to thank you for putting it here! <3 Somehow I missed bits and bobs of info...LolaLei wrote...
Ok, so let's do this.
First off here's the Dragon Age Inquisition trailer for reference: Next here's the survey leak thread from last year with all the details in it:
Next here's the survey leak thread from last year with all the details in it:
http://social.biowar...14144340-1.html
It appears that the trailer is depicting things from both the English and German versions of the game description, we also know certain things about the state of Thedas to be true due to some of the novels/comics/etc and that interview with Aaryn Flynn (I've put the relevant parts in bold):
English version of the description:
"The great nation of Orlais, the most powerful empire in Dragon Age, tears itself apart in civil war. The stout men and women of Ferelden struggle to recover and reclaim their nation from the horde of vile Darkspawn that lay waste to its lands a decade ago. The Chantry, the once-unified faith of the Dragon Age world stands divided. The Templar Order has broken away, claiming the church has become too lax in policing the dangerous powers of the mages. The mage Circles have rebelled, believing the Templars have become too strict, too zealous in their duties, and too quick to slaughter those who dare step out of line.
The World of Dragon Age is on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicenter of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry's leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world to chaos.
From the ashes of that explosion, something new arises- the Inquisition. As the Inquisitor, it falls to you to build your power and martial your forces, uncover secrets and build connections across the world. You must explore forgotten places, uncover ancient mysteries and uproot those who would destroy the delicate fabric of the world."
German version of the description:
"A portal between the worlds unleashes hords of demons in the land, civil wars rip apart nations and the corruption is limitless. Someone is behind the shadows, drawing the threads which destroy the world. Time has come for the Inquisition.
Take the Inquisitor's cloak and lead the only force able of bringing light into the darkness. Choose the direct method and gather your armies, send spies into the shadows or engage in a political war, make friends and use your connections indirectly: it is up to you how you lead the inquisition. But you'll have to take lead of it from the beginning. Make your player a rogue, warrior or mage and set up your crew from up to ten (!) complex companions to lead them against those who attack you by systematically spying on, revealing and destroying them."
So, what else could be true? In the survey leak we have descriptions of the following characters, likely to be potential companions given the descriptions:
Cole- "A long time ago, a young man died a cruel death is dark place. And now, somehow, there is Cole. Was he a spirit or a demon? Is he human now? Cole is not sure it matters any more. Hounded by memories that aren't his own, invisible in a world he can stalk like a shadow, the rogue must decide between joining the living or preying upon them."
Dorian- "Dorian Pavus is a Tevinter magister. The title conjures fear of arcane master who once enslaved nations. Dorian may wield the power of the magisters, but he delights in not being what you would expect. Brazen and clever, this outcast is on a crusade to rid his homeland of its corruption."
The Iron Bull- "The Iron Bull is a long way from home, and he prefers it that way. A slap in the face of typically humorless Qunari (Kossith), he loves drinking, killing and looting- but not necessarily in that order. The head of a vicious mercenary company, he's known for excellent pay and brutal punishment. It's been a decade-long party, but the Bull may find that old loyalties die hard."
Sera- "Sera is young, frenetic, and a brat through and through. She revels in the athleticism of being an elf, of being different. But her culture isn't elven, or for that matter strictly human. It's the underbelly of the city in her network of rogues; what you do it more important than where you're from, and friends open more doors than titles. Robs from the rich to keep for herself."
Could these four be companions? At first some of the devs claimed it was fake, other said it was full of out of date and/or obsolete information, but so far it's been spot on based on what we've seen and heard ranging from the name of the game itself "Dragon Age 3 Inquisition", to the basic plot "you play as the Inquisitor, trying to get to this Fade reach in the sky and just figure out what's going on", AND more importantly how Thedas is pretty much at war with itself.
Moving on, we have a group of pictures from the survey leak, two of which we now know is the protagonist based on the outside and sihouette of the male that showed up not only in the World of Thedas lore book, but the trailer itself:
The remaining characters shown in the pictures comprise of two people we already know (Cassandra and Cullen), an elf that is likely to be Sera from the survey character descriptions, and three characters that are unknown (the Grey Warden, Scroll girl and trident man):
Are all these people in the pictures also companions? Probably not. I don't think "scribe girl" is since she isn't dressed for fighting, nor does she have a weapon or seem as though she's "battle ready", I'd say she'd probably be an npc who perhaps works closely with the protagonist (like Traynor in ME3). As for the Grey Warden and "trident man" i'm not sure. They could be npc leaders of their own factions, in which case it could be possible that Cullen is also an npc leader of a faction (the templars?) However, we have discussed in great detail why most of us feel that he probably wouldn't want anything to do with the rebel templars (at least, not after the way they were depicted in the Asunder novel). Cassandra is likely to be a companion, although there are arguments to be made that she too could just be an important npc.
Your thoughts?
Yeah, that's quoted somewhere above as well. Nevertheless, there are probably nuggets in there that are still correct. And... we've got a while to speculate.Reznore57 wrote...
David Gaider wrote about the survey and said to not look to much into it , because a lot have changed...it's in a companion DA3 thread somewhere.
To be honest looking at those , they look a bit plain , the guy with the spear look a bit like he's sporting a moustache and a mullet ...they wouldn't create something as awful.
LOL Yeah, I know. It makes no sense. Luckily I showed great restraint and didn't read the rest of that thread. Honestly, to beg for info and then turn around after the reveal gives us an actual trailer (an actual trailer! not just a teaser logo and date) and say, "shame on you, that's not what you promised, why did you even bother...?" Bah. I think those "fans" should have to wait for the game even longer... Who's with me?motomotogirl wrote...
Look, he mentioned us!
"I've seen some people state they can't understand why we bothered to share the trailer if we weren't ready for more, which seems to illustrate that they fail to recognize that there are people that wanted to get this sneak peak, and only really found themselves disappointed when they saw "Fall 2014" because they were getting super excited up until that point. It's also part of a longer term marketing plan, something we're afforded to do with the time extension. We certainly could not have done this at E3 last year."Just kidding, not us specifically, but that was all of our reactions and feelings. What other sorts of fans are there??? Were there people who didn't want a sneak peak? I am confused lol

^^So much this! I've just read a post by a guy who wrote that he brought some issues from dao/da2 to developers' attention and they never got back to him, lol. How dared they not to? I just need to stop reading, cause my excitement meter goes down...
...on the other hand my lol-meter goes up

So on a more positive note, here's something else kinda cool I noticed yesterday. I think Cassandra's underground lair might be in that dark, storm fortress we see (the one with the lightning strike in front of it). Check out the symbols on top. Owls as the Seeker/Inquisition mascot?
