Yeah, people are freaking out needlessly. They already said they'd give us a lot more info in the coming months so its not like they're gonna keep us in the dark for a year and a half lol.
People like to btch and moan. Sad but true.
Edit: And you're right, They aren't going to keep us hanging until the game ships. That's just not smart. They will pace the release of info to get maximum hype. Can't shoot their load too early! lol!
Which is why I think we won';t know about Cullen - if he's a companion - until really close to release. Because that's huge info! lol!

I just don't understand how they expect the devs to listen to them or take on their ideas/suggestions/etc by being rude, insulting and abrasive.
I don't get it either. You catch more flies with honey... $h!t works too but people don't like a bunch of apes tossing Chim-chim Cookies at them. It just makes the devs want to deal with us even less. This is why we can't have nice things...

It's that sense of entitlement a lot of people seem to think they have/deserve. It's almost as if they truly believe that the devs owe them something. Well guess what? They don't. I always feel like the haters must lead the saddest lives in existence, wallowing around in their 'Me, me, me, I want, I know better than everyone else' filth.SamaraDraven wrote...

I know that I automatically tune out these types of people and avoid going where they are, and I imagine the devs do the same. It is a needless waste of energy to try and reasonably discuss anything with a person determined to be bitter.

Oh they do! They honestly think the devs owe them! I've seen threads that have posters saying things like "Yeah, the devs do owe it to us..."
Whether it's to finish the story or explore other lands or answer OGB questions or give them the companions they want. They absolutely believe the devs OWE them. They'll say it outright. "Um Bioware claims they listen to their fans and this is what the fans want" or "if you're in the business of crafting a story people WANT to play through, you aren't going to sell games by deliberately giving them what they don't want" or my personal fave when you tell a hater that the devs owe them nothing... "They owe it to us to put out a good game. If I'm paying you my money then you should make it worth my while instead of giving me what I don't want"
Now, I'm paraphrasing, of course but this is the gist of what entitlement sounds like. <_< They don't even bother to hide it! Even when the devs respond and tell them that they will do what they think is best for the story, these guys will tell that dev - to their face - that they kind of are supposed to be making the players happy, that they're not being paid to tell a story of their own discretion but that they're supposed to take our input. I always feel kind of bad for the devs because they do this for us and they DO consider our input (to a reasonable extent) and they're gracious enough to come interact with us personally and they are swarmed by these ingrates. Of course most such people will be confonted by other players but the haters just respond with accusations of sucking up to the dev and it only throws fuel on the fire. It's often the better part of valor to leave them alone. <_< It's hard to do but devs are more likely to shut a thread down for becoming a never ending flame war and not getting back on track than if you let it go. The part that burns my britches is when *I* manage to do that but others don't and they carry on until that thread is locked anyway. Then I'm bummed and feeling a little slighted for behaving. Hence why "This is why we can't have nice things" is my motto these days. it takes just a few bad apples to ruin it for everybody.

The trailer was insanely underwhelming for me, but I was expecting a release later this year. It's beautiful (I love Cassandra's new look and Varric is gorgeous) and an awesome tease, but I thought we would get more. Knowing that the game is delayed, however, I guess it's perfectly fitting.

Hey, did you guys see that post by Gaider where he said something like "most, if not all, that was in the survey has since been altered"..? That sounds omnious in regards to Cullen's status as a companion, but I guess it doesn't have to mean anything. Cass was in it as well, for instance (not that it's been revealed that she is a companion either, or has it?).

I think, and this isn't just my inner Cullen-fan talking, that if anything Cullen's position as a companion would have grown stronger since the survey because he's had such and overwhelmingly strong response, both good and bad, from the fanbase. DG has said time and again that he'd rather have characters that are polarizing and attention-grabbing than ones that are just universally liked. If they did cut him, that decision probably didn't come from him (at least that's my guess).
Or Cullen's presence in the leak was just intended to troll us fangirls/guys.

He said he as himself isn't in the game, but he as Alistair is a different story *wink wink nudge nudge*
Holy crap here's a thought I find quite conflicting....What if, because The WARDEN and HAWKE are both poof gone...or presumde dead...what if Alistair is in the party...maybe even as a grey warden, depending on past choices in past games...
What if...he's a companion and another Possible LI....What if? And what if Cullen is there and an LI as well?!!?!?
BTW Hi all!
I... Would actually really like the idea of being able to romance an LI from a pervious game that you did not romance.
But I can understand why that might make some heads explode.
EDIT
Oh, Fenris. I can just feel the love dripping off your words.

Now... the trailer kind of messes with my head about the Cassandra vs. Cullen trade off we've all been discussing. If any of those scenes were really her, plotting, leading, it does seem odd for her to follow our newbie PC on a quest. Of course, none of those might be in the game.
I'm also thrown for a loop by the Aaron Flynn interview with IGN. Obviously, the IGN dudes continue to show themselves as non-experts on DA, but the notion of choosing sides disturbs me. Particularly since I've been under the impression that our goal as Inquisitor is to build alliances and gather factions... not support divisiveness by picking sides.

Mage vs. Templar? Elves vs. Qunari? Maybe even Ferelden vs. Orlais?
Something. We know even when faced with the end of days, people really don't like to shut up, look at the real problem, and work together to defeat it.
At least, not before solving all their problems first.

Yeah, that's the vibe I'm getting too. It's a good formula for a game and it works. It worked for ME and it worked in Origins, why mess with a good thing?Batteries wrote...
I'm getting ME3 vibes, so I'm imagining situations like quarian vs. geth or salarian vs. krogan being in DAI.

I don't even know what to believe anymore. There were clearly some hideously incorrect information in that article, but at the same time there was some truth to it in the parts that was quotes directly from Aaryn Flynn.

LOL That's about it. So, what did we learn? "bring back an inquisition" :: connections to inquisition of old. Yay/boo!
