I mean, I know he's not gonna be one of the templars that wants mages dead, but I wonder if maybe we'll find him and he'll be neither pro-divine nor pro-rebel templars. Perhaps he'll have abandoned it completely after having a bit of a crisis and we'll find him either as a sword for hire or refusing to get involved (until the Fade pops open).

So where does that leave him? I'd say that's a decent amount of angst baring in mind he's been a templar for the best part of his life.

I do wonder how much folks know about what the Divine did in Asunder. It's stated like it's common knowledge in WoT, but I always headcanon that the average person doesn't know she helped the mages.
Presumably lambert spread it around the Templar Order, so it's probably leaked into the rest of Thedas. Many would likely consider it to be rumours though. What I wonder is if the mages know she's been helping them?

They keep saying the survey leak is obsolete but it's been spot on so far. I guess if anything has changed it'll be the companions.
Hi all!
Or maybe that's what they want us to think...lol just to keep us on our toes...silly devs

I figured the mages definitely knew since Leliana was helping them and was at Andoral's Reach. But I don't recall any specific evidence of such.LolaLei wrote...

Through all his improvement in DA2 he's still wary of mages, I couldn't see him being too happy with some of the Divine's actions, and providing he hasn't been locked up he's probably now aware of some of them. That said, I also don't see him joining the rebel templars knowing that it's gone all "kill first, ask questions later".
So where does that leave him? I'd say that's a decent amount of angst baring in mind he's been a templar for the best part of his life.
Pretty much this. A templar's life is hard. I imagine he's got the idea on what a templar is meant to be, but I think he'd still carry a few prejudices and fight them or even keep them depending on what he ecounters. I doubt he will join any group too severe in punishment, that is if he isn't locked away somewhere - poor bloke.

"THE CAKE IS A LIE."
No, it's not. It's there, and you just have to appreciate it and love it for what it is until someone sees fit to make if if they so choose. If they don't, then you can go right on ahead appreciating the fake cake.
Hell, I'd LOVE for Varric to be a romance. I'd love for Cullen to be a romance - haha, everyone here would love the latter. But you know...if it doesn't happen, then I can go right on ahead appreciating the bromance I have with Varric, and we can hopefully appreciate a friendship with Cullen if he appears as a companion.
If there was a choice between fake cake and death...I'd take a fake cake any day.

I actually like that he takes this game that much to heart. I get everything he's saying. Ppl have to learn that the game is kind like RL...just cause you like someone, doesn't mean they're gonna like you back.

Yeah but he was just responding to someone who said they wished Varric and Aveline were romance-able. So I mean you would be saying the same about all of us... we are freaks or something just because we want to romance Cullen.

And Aveline was a good example of that. As was Varric! Seriously, Hawke had so many things happen and everything kept changing, sometimes for the worst - Varric was a constant, as was Aveline. They were always there ready to talk, ready to have your back.

I have no idea which bits were Gaider and which bits were someone else. Either way, I don't think every companion NEEDS to be romanceable.
In regards to Cullen the reason I (and many others) want to romance him isn't because I want his pixel meat, but rather the fact that the poor guy looks like he needs a little affection. I think maybe that's where things often get confused, DG presumes that everyone is just flicking the bean/bashing the bishop over his word babies (granted, a lot do), but not all of us.

It is a fun, great part of the game, and I'll be the first to say it's my favourite thing to do in the games, but it isn't the only reason I play. I think that sometimes people need to step back and take time to appreciate everything the games have to offer. So you didn't get romance the character you wanted to? Draw some fan art and write a fanfic!
I also think there would be less commotion over the famed BioWare romances if other companies started incorporating it into their games as well. It's obviously an aspect of gameplay both genders seem to enjoy, so I don't get why other games haven't started doing it.

Because there are so few games out there that do romances, and none yet to the calibur of BioWare's, I imagine it is quite frustrating for the devs when all people seem to want is the romances of BioWare and complain and voice disappointment, or even eagerly anticipate it to the point that it's all anyone seems to talk about. I think the romances get so much buzz and excited chatter because no other games seem to do it.

Agreed. They are the only games company that is very character/companion centric, and as such people get attached to said characters and that's how the fangirl/fanboy/fanfic thing happens!

True, but I still don't think it's a crime to simply say, "I wish Aveline were romanceable."
Exactly, it's not.
I understand that he doesn't want every companion romanceable, and I agree with him. However, there's no harm in people wishing/wanting to romance an unobtainable character like Aveline or Varric etc. Often it goes beyond wanting to romance said character because they're "hot" or because it's a "fetish", people actually warm to a character enough that they'd like to experience that extra "layer"/"aspect" to said characters personality.

No, I don't think it's a crime either, I say it about Cullen all the time! I'm just saying that I understand where all the frustration is coming from. When a large number of people fixate on one thing and it's a constant thing the devs hear over and over, I can see where one innocent comment is the straw that breaks the camel's back.motomotogirl wrote...

Also, I think sometimes it's less about the romance and more about just having more face time with a character you love. Independent of kissing/shagging, the romances add content. Maybe you could have a BFF in addition to a LI, with its own quests. Go with Isabela to get that first tattoo. Go to the Chantry and renew your faith and pray with Sebastian. Actually take your mabari to the guardhouse for that training.LolaLei wrote...
