Trip out on this. Look what I found.

Remember way back in the dark ages when a fan essay on mages breaking the Fade was tweeted by one of the devs?? And, brushyourteeth started a thread on it in the DAII forums? Of course, we'd been talking about Veil rips even before that, but note that this was also way before the survey leaks. Now we know why that was of such interest to Mary Kirby...

Welcome to memory lane! Part of the reason the new trailer didn't really shock us... LOL

Wow, thanks for posting. Interesting read. Think I will need some time to digest it to get my head around it!

Niiiiice! Sounds so cool and hipster to say that we talked about it before anyone else, doesn't it? Posted ImagePosted Image
Just goes to show, a good idea is a good idea. +10 to brush for starting a thread on it last year and +10 to R2 for digging all this up and +10 to Griffindor for... oh wait....

As there has been talk about veil tears, there is a thread on the forum talking about DA Redemption and how the veil tear, caused by a Dalish artifact was similar to the one in the trailer - social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/371/index/16867038

Some interesting points.  I had never heard of DA Redemption until I watched it today. Quite sad at the end. There is so much about DA that I don't know!

"Dragon Age: Inquisition will launch in the Fall of 2014 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360. We’ve shown Varric, a Qunari (who has a name, we’re just not releasing it yet!), Cassandra, and Morrigan.

With the breach of the Fade happening in the sky, demons have poured out and created a pretty big problem for the Inquisitor, the character you will play. You’ll have to cover huge areas of Thedas to uncover what happened. As you do, the choices you make will impact the world and bring everything to an ultimate conclusion."

I'm calling it now, that's Iron Bull. (Unless Sten magically grew horns, LOL!)

Just saw a DA confession where the confessor wanted a casual sex option and used Cullen as an example. LMAO! I don't think my Protag could ever just casual sex Cullen. She'd keep going back for more and more until one day there was suddenly a relationship built around it!
I already thought there were characters in the series you could just casually hook up with. There is that dude in the Cousland playthrough at the beginning, Zevran, Isabela various ladies and gentlemen of the evening throughout both games that you can have a one off with. I guess this person wanted more Templars to seduce!

Instantly thought of that Qunari as Iron Bull. It makes sense, at least until we learn more

I agree. Since he was shown in the trailer, I wonder if he'll be the first companion that they "reveal". We already know a lot about Varric, Morrigan and Cassandra.

Although I could be wrong. I think the first companion they revealed for DA2 was Isabela.

It's interesting. A lot of people are presuming that Cassandra and/or Varric are the companions, but it could be a bit of a red herring, perhaps the only companion in that trailer is the Qunari/Tal-Vashoth dude? I mean, it seems unusual for them to add 3 companions into one trailer.

I doubt Varric would be a companion , I mean he got a big role in DA2 as best companion/narrator.
And a role in the comic...

Or the devs really got attached to the idea of Varric telling the story?
He's in the game , (I hope they won't kill him !) but he can be a quest giver , or somebody who give you clues/rumor to follow...
He could take care of the castle , a bit like a Joker (ME3) character ...Bodahn could die?
And Varric would adopt Sandal (lol).

Cassandra , I think she will be a companion , but I have trouble picturing her taking orders from your pc.^^

I think it's just because that's really the only solid information that we have to go off of. There's the survey leak, but there will always be that smidgen of doubt whenever someone tries to use that as their reasoning.

Personally I'm really excited to see any companions, be them old or new. As much as I love Cullen, it'll be interesting to see what other characters they bring into the mix that we have no prior knowledge of.

OMG... DG is drunken tumblring. You guys gotta check this out! LOL He has essentially unleashed his angst about DA fans' fixation on the romances. And, written a rather extended parable to explain.

http://dgaider.tumbl...-presuming-that

Oh my frickin maker, DG is absolutely hilarious  The deli analogy is insanely funny
I am imagining myself eating cardboard cakes, hmm... (am I rightly assuming that this is a meta for ff?).

Personally I love to mix and match, I couldn't go on a cake all the time. Ok, I think I lost the plot.... As for romances, I don't mind it either way. I am here primarily because I would love to see Cullen as a companion in DAI, or at least a major npc. If he by any chance managed to be a LIs, that would be a very sweet cherry on the top.

And I love character focus in Bio games. I have never cared so much about any protagonist in my life as much as I care for theirs and it's mostly because of how humane and real they feel through their dynamics with other characters. I love their romances, since they define pcs even more and add unexpected depth to a whole story (i.e. I wouldn't care so much whether my hero dies or lives if not for their LIs). Same with friendships. I actually have few playthroughs with no romances at all. It changes the story quite considerably. As someone mentioned earlier, romance with a character allows for a different type of interaction and can be more involving. Maybe that's why the requests for more romances are so prevalent. But I wouldn't say that people neglect other aspects of the story. Just how many (heated) threads were discussing Loghain or, more recently, Mage-Templar conflict...

Here's a thought, what happens to people when they dream if the Fade has torn open? Would their "souls" fall into the real world like some weird lucid dreaming thing? Would it be more dangerous since the demons can now access you directly? Or less because they now have direct access to the real world, thus no need to bother trying to possess people while they sleep?

"It's Lucky! My long lost Mabari! Come here boy-AHHH SH*T! I landed on a Seeker statue and got shanked up the a**!"

Aside from the comedic possiblities, I don't think demons would really be interested in possessing anyone if they can drop into the "real world" directly. Takes less effort on their part, and they're probably more powerful in the normal forms.

It seems likely that the tears in the Veil are something that's a result of someone deliberately bringing demons into the mortal realm, rather than the Fade breaking open at a certain location and dreamers wandering unknowingly into it.

It'll be interesting to see if they address that though, for sure!

Maybe when the fade will tear it will leave an exit for those who want to get out of there (demons), i.e. it requires more active approach on their part, whilst the other beings, such as spirits or dreamers have no interest in leaving. Though I admit free-roaming souls of dreaming people could add interesting twist/comedic potential

Edit: cause I write gibberish... and another edit cause I'm struggling with understanding myself, sorry :( i guess I need some rest.

Interesting thought there. On that same thought train.... I wonder if we'll have to close the hole from inside the Fade. A good few of the nasties will be on the Thedas side so would it be easier to traverse the other plane? Or could we become trapped once it's repaired? Maybe it'll be another Ultimate Sacrifice deal where we have to give away one of our companions. Posted Image
