Glorious!

I guess a Varric romance would be a worthy replacement if Cullen isn't.

I just put strong Agree for both, since she was supposed to be me. I'll expect the men in white coats to pop round sometime in the week, LOL!

A bit OT, ladies and gents, but themarysue just posted an ask from a grad student at Ohio State who's doing a study about video games and wants more representative female gamer participation in their survey. Seems legit. If you're interested, go HERE.

Did the survey! I wasn't sure how to answer some of the questions - some of the answers made me fee like I was a crazy person for self-insertion in a game. XD

LOL Indeed. Watch, next year new legislation will come out limiting videogame use, because it makes you crazy... and point to an interesting study out of Ohio State...

"Do you feel like the characters were watching you?"
Me: ......

If Zevran all the sudden turned and faced the screen I'd call a priest.

LOL Good example. Yeah... once they got into those, I had the same reaction... and had to back up and reconsider whether I was supposed to be answering about relating to my character in a metaphorical sense... or whether they were asking if I was, you know, channeling my inner Hawke and talking to Cullen around the dinner table.

Like, what was it? Two separate questions: Do you resemble your character? Does  your character resemble you?
Interesting shade of difference there...

Pretty much! My first PT in any RPG is generally a self-insert. Any other PT I create a totally different character. So, I was unsure of which situation I should consider, because I certainly become involved with the story (if it's good), so I can feel what a character is feeling to an extent - like I have never had to help templars slaughter a bunch of mages, so I don't really know how it can feel; I just know it made me feel sad and angry, and that's as basic as it gets because if such a thing actually happened, someone could suffer from PTSD. No one will get that just from playing a game. It's like reading a book, imo. You can become just as involved and attached. Just in a RPG you have a little bit more control over which decisions your character picks.

Okay, sorry, ran away with that thought for a second. XD

Awww! Lady! I'm sorry we made you feel like that! IE is problematic but it's the most widely used internet browser (as far as I'm aware anyway). Use what you know. =D

 It's all good! Just embarrassing to have to show everyone exactly how unsavvy I am on a computer!

lol! It's alright! Not all of us are savvy either. I know I'm kind of only so-so. R2 just made me look like a dummy! haha! But we help each other and we're happy to do so. :) Just ask and ye shall receive! :D

D'oh, I'm so sorry!  I didn't mean it that way! :crying:  The forums do come without an instruction manual, so usually someone will have an answer.

Now I'll go sit in my corner of shame...

Oh R2! That's not what I meant! I know you didn't, silly. ^_^ I just mean that I felt kind of slow for not picking up on the fact that she's using IE or that I didn't know how to solve it so I said something waaaay off base! lol! :D No worries.

What did you guys say was your favorite game? I said DA2.

I felt really stupid describing the game lol It was like writing fanfiction or something. "Hawke and his family are desperately trying to escape their homeland, which has been attacked by darkspawn..." etc. etc. And of course at some point I mention the love interest, and by the end of it realized that half my description of the game was about Hawke and his LI. >.>

I said mine was Assassin's Creed Revelations was the most recent game I played. it's also my fave. Prior to that the survey asked all these questions like "How important is it to you to be able to choose your character's gender? Have you ever passed up a game for being sexist? Too sexy? For being a boy's game? How crucial is it for you to be able to customize your character? How much does a good story matter to you? Do you prefer a game with a complex story? Do youprefer games that have multiple outcomes based on your decisions?"

All this is pretty important to me and after giving high marks to the customization stuff, my "favorite game" is with a protag I can't customize at all! And whose story is strictly linear. lol! But what an amazing story it is!

I picked DA:O... I was gonna pick Sanitarium or Deadly Premonition but the plot to those would end me up in an insane asylum, especially with the questions that followed!

Me too. It was between that, and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Seeing as I haven't played that game for a good 6-10 years, I found Dragon Age a lot easier to answer questions about  Makes me really want to buy a 3DS to play the updated version of that game though. And that Animal Crossing game looks like the sh*t too. So much for using my side summer job money for a trip to London... <_<

Well I felt even dumber; it kept asking me all that stuff about identifying with your character, are you your character, do you feel what your character feels, do you look like your character... I got mad after a while and just wanted to snap, MY CHARACTER IS A GORGEOUS HUNK OF MAN MEAT; HE IS NOT ME; IF THAT MAKES ME SHALLOW THEN OH WELL!!! Harrumph.

:D

I answered as normal as I could at first. Then I saw kind of how it was going and decided to answer in my "I'm the crazy cat lady" mind state.

To be honest, the only reason why my canon Warden is still me (even after my first playthrough), is because I wanted to shag Alistair.

... GUILTY!

 Is that not the point of a ROLE-playing game? It's just the way the questions were asked (over and over and over again) made it seem like someone ACTUALLY role-playing was a self-deluded creeper.

Absolutely! I've been trying to convince my sister to go out there w/ me for ages, but she is a total bum and lives off her boyfriend  (I say that w/ all the love in the world! Sincerely!) So for now I'm just saving up for my own ticket, and seeing where I can go from there.

A self-deluded creeper? ...That is brilliant. Someone make a banner with Alistair peeping over the Warden's shoulder in the sexy-times tent! GO! XD

And hey, there are so many characters I would have a tumble with, no joke. XD

I wonder what non-gamers think of us.

...Self-deluded creepers, probably. XD

+1 nikki, we mind-meld again!!! Image IPB

Of course a close 3rd is anything from the Harvest Moon series.  What? Serious gamers play those... Image IPB
