Have you guys heard the latest news about Xbox One?

Somewhat, only that they are supposedly not going to be greedy d-bags and retract all their ridiculous restrictions and rules. Still the fact that they thought it was okay to do that stuff in the first place makes me very leery about them and less likely to invest in their future products.

i think the reason the are like that is thay thy trying to prevent  game "theft" or something idk

They're got rid of the whole online every 24 hours thing, also you don't need to connect it to the internet anymore and they're letting us trade in and borrow used games again. It's a start, I guess.

tysandri: I have a question. Which Cullen do you prefer the physical appearance of? DA:O Cullen or DA2?

I'd like to say a healthy in-between but I just kind of mash him up with like 70% Origins and 20% James Caviezel and then 10% DA2 because his DA2 face is pretty much the vanilla NPC standard, and that bugs me because I really, really love how distinct his facial features are in Origins. Even if DA2 engine is better and the graphics look visually more up-to-date, there's some sort of unique, almost painterly quality to the style of Origins overall.

Basically though my headcanon Cullen is a hybrid. Also James Caviezel face - I use him for reference. c:

Image IPB

He's the only actor I personally feel could ever pull off Cullen as a whole, both acting wise, emotional-range wise, and visually. x] Then again my headcanon is also much older than the general consesus. boop *sits in a corner* .3.

I LOVE This movie!

I would love it if Cullen had a sense of humor in there. Nothing over the top, but it would be nice to discover just a bit of roguish fun in him.

I kind of like that he's so serious though. I feel like it's a major part of his character, and it's part of what endears him to me as a character. He takes life very seriously; he doesn't joke his way out of a hard time like Alistair or Anders. If he does have a sense of humor, I think it will be on the snarkier side, sort of like Fenris' or Morrigan's; they enjoyed picking on other people, and I think Cullen has a tendency to make fun of people, too (such as the "weaving circle" comment he makes regarding the recruits). But he isn't the type to crack a joke to break the tension or anything.

Honestly, his stoicism is a huge part of his appeal to me :D

I second this motion haha. It's always been the appeal of him for me to be such a genuinely honest yet restrained (I dunno if that is the right word?) individual. He exercises extreme dedication and respect for his title (friendly reminder he was the only templar to survive the terrors of the Broken Circle behind shut doors), yet at the same time keeps himself very grounded and sincere in his opinion of people despite what he's been through. I would imagine this to temper him a fairly serious, yet friendly person. He would make a small joke where it feels appropriate.

I'm glad to see you keep popping in! Told you we are pretty much like minded around here lol

I would still love to know wtf they were thinking in the first place. I want to know who the hell they thought any of those features would appeal to. It's not going to generate new sales and you're more then likely scaring current customers away. Their marketing advisor needs a good shake.

So I finally got around to watching The Count of Monte Cristo after Brush told me to watch it weeks ago, and then was reminded again today by tysandri's post.

I'd totally love to see a similar thing happen to Cullen, not in a rags to riches way, but with the whole being betrayed by Lambert/the Order after refusing to join the rebellion/whatever and locked away for a few years (between DA2 and DAI), losing his faith/having his faith shaken due to the hardship he's experienced etc, escaping and going under a different name until our protagonist runs across him/is sent to find him.

I could totally imagine being sent to find mysterious character going under a name we'd never expect and then finding him and being pleasantly surprised. Or dealing with the rebel templars at their main base of operation and every so often catching a glimpse of someone running around in the shadows helping us out, cutting the odd throat when we're in trouble or whatever but never staying still long enough during the quest to catch him, then right at the end of said templar related request he steps out of the shadows, does something badass, pulls his hood down and BAM! There he is!

... Which is where we'd recruit him and I'd pick my panties up off the floor!

Kinda, but more cloak & dagger and less sniper lol. I don't mean giving him a badass name or anything, just something that people referred to him as like "deserter" "fugitive" "defector" or "turncoat" so that it wouldn't be immediately obvious who we're looking for.

That's kinda like what they tried to do w/ Anders, just more secretive. I got the feeling we were supposed to be surprised at Ander's appearance, but due to all the leaks anyone that had been following the development process of DA2 kinda had it spoiled early on.

Seriously though I hope it's cleverer than Garrus; I knew who the archangel was a mile away!

Yeah, that was an epic fail! And that bloody woman gave it away in Lowtown when you go speak to her. If there's gonna be a surprise then I'd rather find who it is in collision of awesomeness.

For example, (and this is cheesy but it'll do as an example to show how Cullen's surprise appearance could be made to look good/dramatic, rather than lacklustre):

Protagonist 'n' co are looking for top Templar bad guy (let's pretend it's Lambert), right at the end of said quest we fight him and his cronies, protagonist strikes the killing blow (or so we think), protagonist turns to walk away but Lambert has other ideas, gets up and runs with his blade drawn above his head towards the protagonist, suddenly Lambert stops dead in his tracks as protagonist turns around, Lambert has a shocked look on his face and after a few seconds blood drips from his mouth, you hear the sound of a blade being pulled from flesh as he drops to the floor and you see a man with a hood covering most of his face or shrouded in shadows standing behind him as he falls.

*Man steps forward/pulls his hood down and we see that it's Cullen*

You forgot the *dramatic music* part before he reveals himself! :P Oh, and the boot to face scroll up so we can appreciate the Frostbitey goodness of Cullen's new look.

That would be a neat twist, and a way they can continue to torture us by not revealing that he will be a companion in the game until we actually get our hands on it. Wait...

Nikki: I misread that as "You forgot the *dramatic music* part before he RELIEVES himself" - I was gonna say that comes later!

I would've added more like the slow-mo as Lambert runs towards the protagonist with a blood thirst battle cry, but I ran out of room since I'm using my iPhone.

Lirene: Oh, would you like to speak with ANDERS? You know ANDERS, don't you? The Grey Warden, AANNDDEERRSS?

Me: *never having played DA:O before* So I take it this Anders guy is important....

Hey, MMG, did you make your own pawn, too? But yeah, a posse of Amazons. Fantastic.

Cullen and humor: I think Cullen is funny w/out trying to be. That one quest w/Aveline and her stepping down. I remember returning to him w/Aveline along. He syas something like, "Oh, you've returned" then there's that beat and he says..."Annnd you've brought the guard capt w/you." And does almost a facepalm.

I laughed. I was like, "Oh yeah, Son.Better believe it!" lol. He really did not want to have to deal w/the force of nature that can be Aveline.

Mystery Cullen..I like. Not too long cuz I want as soon asap, but I love the whole..rogue Templar? thing. That monte cristo-ish vibe. Betrayed; locked up; mysteeerious; then bam!

Gosh, I wonder what they're actually gonna do tho? We may just meet him at the beginning...and I remind myself he may/may not be in the game. Or may/may not be a companion...ugh.

I don't like reminding myself of that, but it pops up in my head anyway. I want it to be a surprise if he is in the game, but at this point I need to know. Just that one npc I need to know if he's even gonna be a companion. So I can spec more comfortably

Yes :D She has elf ears. And blue hair. And red eyes >.> ... Just because :o

Ha, I liked that scene, too, "Favor and Fault"... he seems embarrassed for his Order that a good person like Aveline is having her name dragged through the dirt.

Hmph.....all this waiting for DAI is making me really want to buy a new game, even though there's about a thousand other more responsible things I need to be saving up for. Defiance looks really interesting, but I need a good group of people to play with before committing to a new MMO like that. Has anyone tried Last of Us or Remember Me yet?

I haven't personally tried it, but seems like everyone on Twitter's going nuts over Last of Us.

And Defiance the TV show sucks if that helps at all....
