 I'm kinda partial to the dark circles, though I really hope they don't get worse. Like, Samson worse. Because that man had hideous circles under his eyes.. Do. Not. Want. On. Cullen.

Cullen's dark circles were quite a pretty colour, who would have thought that they could actually suit someone!

I'm watching David Gaider's GDC presentation. It's really eye-opening, in some ways. It makes me hope that the gaming industry will take it seriously and we'll see some changes in the future regarding female protagonists and female gamers. And gay and bi-sexual gamers and protagonists, as well.

From the trailer, and some of the pictures I've seen from Battlefield, I'm gonna predict that the skin textures are going to have a lot of little detail to them that just really add to the overall realistic feel of the game. Like the burn marks on the side of Varric's face, or the little freckles and moles on Morrigan. I at least hope this to be true, as the textures in DA2 were a bit lacking and gave our characters a cartoon-ish look. I really hope this translates to CC as well, so we can give each new character a different scar or freckles or tattoos that set them apart and add to the replay-ability factor.

If he's a companion, I think it's highly likely. It makes more sense for them to create special textures for each companion, ala Mass Effect w/ Ash and Kaidan, than to put that sort of effort in for every NPC.

Personally I'm a fan of scars, so maybe a couple of nics and scratches from his battle with Meredith, or even from when he was tortured by the mages in Kinloch Hold that our Protagonist can ask him about. I'd also like for some more scruff. Maybe not a full beard, but a bit of a shadow on his jaw, along with his trademark goatee of course!

Okay, going over my shallow quota here, but I'm not a fan of the mole. At all. I liked his barely there freckle in DA2.

I blame the Austin Powers franchise for ruining moles for me.

Definitely a few scars, maybe one by his eyebrow or one his bottom lip. I imagine he'd have a least one burn mark somewhere on him since he's been dealing with mages for years so he's likely had the odd fire ball hurled at him in his time LOL! I wouldn't mind seeing some very light freckles in places ( he had faint ones in DA2) and maybe one or two beauty spots/moles (whatever you wanna call them). When it comes to his facial hair I like his current trade mark one, however I wouldn't mind this on him because it's hot:

I think that Cullen will still be recognizable as Cullen. I think if anything, he's going to look even more like Paul Walker in this game than he did in DA2.

I just noticed that Morrigan has a couple of beauty spots on her chest too. I wonder if that means that companions/important characters have unique bodies this time around, or if every female character is gonna have two beauty spots on her chest?

Might just be the texture on the model for that outfit. Something that only Morrigan shows up in, so it's unique in that respect to her. I doubt it will be something they add to every body model for the females.

Actually, I dunno how many people still know about this, but a few years back there was a dispute on the Origins forums about the "age" files in the DAO Toolset, and I cannot remember if it was actually from the original Cullen appreciation thread I made in the old forums or from another discussion, but David Gaider actually popped in and explained that the ages listed in the toolset were not the characters' actual age, but a reference for the VA actors' to go by, essentially meaning I'm presuming that they wanted Greg Ellis to try and sound more like a bumbling, nervous 24-year-old. Which is really cute.

So don't be fooled by the Toolset! I never follow the list lol. I headcanon him as in his 30s in Origins, which would make him a saucy 40ish in DAI (which I don't mind a siiinggle bit)

Mmmmmmm, manly ruggish .  He did look quite manly in both games so far, but that older, hardened look? Yummy. I like battle scars. 

I'm going to be a little terrible here and hope for what eventually happens to all templars, which is a scarred, lyrium-addled older templar still trying to keep control of his own mind



I should probably repaint this at some point before DAI, but I really love this concept. I think Cullen could probably hold out against the lyrium madness longer than some, but eventually it would creep in and start to affect him. After the 10 year span in DA2, I imagine it starts getting to him. Not to mention trauma from everything he's had to go through and see over the years.
