I'd prefer to have the option to not marry off my Inquisitor to her/his LI, it's just not my sort of thing. But anyway, I guess I'm just fully expecting something awful to happen to him that prevents us (once again) from getting him a companion/LI.
What I would like to see is a short story, or comic for each companion/LI released like a month or so before the game ships, like they did for the DA2 companions prior to DA2's release.

also in da2 i didnt know Templars could have a family cuz Aveline was married to that guy i cant remember his name but i thought Templars were "virgin Mary's" as long as they stay in the order or something?
That's what they led up to believe in DA:O, but I guess they retconned it in DA2... or a lot of us just got the wrong idea. In the templar's codex it's said that Templars are generally discouraged from having relationships, but allowances are sometimes made if the Templar has done something noteworthy and/or the person the templar is marrying is from good stock and has his/her own income. From what I can tell the Templars that do marry don't get to see their spouses often... unless they live close by or something, I guess.

I guess that also explains why there were so many templars knocking about in the Blooming Rose since it's the only real chance they get to experience some form of affection and bodily contact, lol.

Templars aren't allowed to romance other templars either because that's considered fraternisation. And obviously they aren't allowed to romance mages because that would get them punished lol. So really their only option is "normal" folk, but of course they don't really get much time to socialise outside of the Circles to form such relationships, which is another reason why most are single.

idk maybe BW will go easy on us with cullen and actually give us what we want since they clearly see that this thread its not just a fluke , all tho they might put a spin on it like they can give us cullen but make him look like hell and say " well u guys got what u wanted so there u go enjoy ur ugly

Many of the templars were put into the Order with no choice in the matter, especially if they were Chantry orphans. Not only that, but as Cullen said himself he wanted to be a Knight, he made it clear after his torture that he didn't fully understand the implications that joining the Order would entail because he was so young when he enlisted.
It's sad because these young men and women are recruited into the order (often without having any choice in the matter), are brainwashed by the Chantry system into believing that all mages are walking time bombs etc, have to strike down people that they have spent a lot of time watching over, sometimes even befriending, they're forced to take lyrium that leaves them addicted and eventually jibbering wrecks, witness some truly horrifying scenes when demons and abominations do come into the mix, most never get the opportunity to marry or have a proper relationship unless they do something noteworthy, which more often than not would likely be a task or quest that gets them killed anyway.
And in regards to Cullen you have to add into the mix that he initally hated the idea of striking down mages because he considered them innocents, later witnessed all his templar brothers and sisters killed by the very people he considered innocents (which was a brain-**** in itself), ends up with survivors guilt "why should I be the one to live when my brothers and sisters lie dead", feels extra bad if your Warden was a female Amell/Surana because he was in love with her/had a crush on her, spent gawd knows how long punishing himself over it, then moved to Kirkwall to start fresh, began to recover only to have his superior go mental on him, put more pressure on him by trying to give him jobs (like the Guard-Captain's position), then turns her sword on him at the end requiring him to aid Hawke in killing her. And I'm pretty sure that whatever has happened to him after the events of DA2 certainly won't have been a cake-walk either, lol!
It's a bum deal, it really is.

Then we get to DA2 and you have a handful of honourable ones, and a handful of bad eggs, but the general consensus is that Templars are bad in the second game, whereas in Origins this did not appear to be the case. Two sides of the coin, I guess.

When I first played Origins, I honestly didn't think the Templars were bad people at all! Sure, Gregoir was a bit of a pill when you played as a Mage, and Carol was a snot, but overall the Templars you meet in Origins seemed like nice guys. As a Mage you met Cullen early on, he was nice, then there were the Templars with the lyrium bribes in Redcliffe/Denerim and both of them were nice depending on which one you talked to, then there was Ser Otto, and he was nice.

Yeah, they didn't seem too bad in DA:O at all, though I still felt bad for the mages being locked up. In DA2 we saw a different side, the side that Anders had mention briefly in DA:A. I think things were extra bad in Kirkwall though since Meredith insisted on recruiting a lot of zealotous people into the Order. I'm pretty sure the only reason why Meredith took any interest in Cullen in the first place was due to the fact that his torture in Kinloch Hold had caused him to become as hateful and extreme as she was. She didn't count on him getting better though, suck on that you red lyrium addled old boot!

yea i think after da2 maybe hes helping out the mages and got to open his eyes more and see that not all mages deserve to be treated like dogs , and by doing that he might be hunted by the seeker maybe or the Templars who still serve the divine, or he could have remain loyal to the divine and still thinks that all mages need to die all tho i doubt it but u never know what BW has in store for him
I don't think he'll be pro-mage, so I don't expect to find him with the rebel mages helping them kick the rebel templars arse. I see him as more likely to be conflicted, but aware that something has to change. My theory is that he'll still be pro-Divine so he'll have to carry out whatever Orders she requests of him. That's where our protagonist (will hopefully) come in so that we can recruit him and witness for ourselves what conclusion he comes to surrounding the whole thing.

No doubt if Cullen is pro-Divine and is working fairly close to her (since presumably she'd want to ask him first hand what happened in Kirkwall with Meredith) then he's probably made it clear how conflicted he is, since he's rubbish at keeping his thoughts and feelings to himself as it is, LOL.
Hell, there's always at least one companion that is ordered to/forced to go with the protagonist in each DA game. In DA:O it was Flemeth who told our Warden to take Morrigan with us, and in DA2 the Keeper requested that Hawke take Merrill with him/her. So why not a male this time round, just to switch things up a bit.

Or maybe he'll be secretly ordered to join us by Lambert (or whoever is in charge) if he really is with the rebelled templars, perhaps he's the one that will betray us? Hopefully if we get his friendship/approval up enough, or we romance him then he'll have a change of heart and turn on his superior, kinda like Zev did.
lol, if he runs off with a relic mid-game on me and doesn't come back!!!! *shakes fist*
i think I'm still pissed off at Isabela for that in my first playthrough!

Lol, in my first ever playthrough I didn't even realised that I'd managed to miss her out until the end of the game when the artsy scene showed a pirate woman in the book.

Still, at least this time I won't miss out any companions because I'll know who I'm supposed to be looking for when they tell us who they are.

Is it bad that the biggest thing I'm looking foward to is seeing Cullen again and (hopefully) being able to get more of his story, preferably via companion/LI role. Gah, I hope they give us some more information to speculate over sooner rather than later. I half hope there will be some kind of leak if they don't give us anything for the next billion months, lol.

Y'know, I was totally chilled out about waiting for DAI until Fall 2014 after the initial surprise, but since we've been talking about Cullen's inclusion in the game and possible role within it I'm feeling all impatient about the wait again, lol.

I'm tempted to play again on my Xbox, but I kinda wanna wait and get it on DA2 so that I can do my ultimate PC playthrough on there... of course, I haven't even finished my DA:O playthrough on the PC yet lol. Tbh I've played both games so many times now on the Xbox that it feels like a bit of chore slogging through it all again.
The main reason I even wanna do another DA2 playthrough is so that I can swap Cullen's head onto male Hawke, record bits of it with fraps and then make a bunch of fan videos to keep myself occupied whilst I wait for DAI lol.
