whoa, I'm on the ps3 :o I'm level 19 atm and I'm short on RC but when I manage to level up myself a bit I'll try to nab him. My pawn is also a mage, and I usually go for a party of 2 mages but for a moment I'm rolling with a fighter and a warrior and I'm enjoying it a lot. My ID is killmequickly1, that's my boyfriend's sense of humour... <_<

Yay, another ps3 user~ I actually leveled up a bit last night. He might be around level 25 now. Be as rough with him as you like. He can take it. ;)

This isn't strictly true, though. We do know what he thinks about the Right of Annulment because Hawke can ask him what he thinks. He questions directly Meredith's use of the Right of Annulment in the pro-templar ending when the three mages try to surrender. Of course, we don't know what he would do independent of Hawke's interference (since of course, it's the PC's game), but in this scene we see very clearly that he doesn't think the mages should be killed. He thinks they should instead  be watched, citing his experience in Ferelden as being much worse. So although he's been following through with Meredith's orders to execute the annulment, he does override her in that scene. Plus, this isn't the only doubt he shows at the end. So, I think it would be a stretch to say he's still "rawr, kill all the mages," or even kill all the Kirkwall mages, based on the evidence.

Of course, those lines of his *could* all be red herrings from the writers, and he could secretly still be the hardliner, don't let a single one survive, like he was during Broken Circle... but that's not how I would extrapolate the existing data.

edited to add: Now, I'm not saying he wouldn't support the use of the Right if it were warranted...  I'm just saying that he shows evidence that he doesn't think it's warranted in Kirkwall that day.  Just as I see him still being pro-Circle at the end of DA2, I would also see him using the Right when all hope is lost.

He seems reluctant, but he carries out his orders. He does refuse to do so when he feels things are getting out of hand, but that only happens when he is ordered to kill Hawke. Apparently, annuling the circle is not enough for him to make a stand. I agree that he doesn't seem to want this to happen, but the only thing I'm saying is that as of the ending in DA2 we don't know where he stands on the issue of mages. At all.

Cullen will lay down his life for what he feels is right. He does not lay down his life to stop the annulment. On the other hand, he doesn't seem to like it. What does this mean? I don't know. To me it means that I don't know where he stands. Maybe he doesn't either.

I'm not saying that he's a bad guy. I'm certainly not saying that he want to kill all the mages (I said the opposite in fact). I'm saying that his motivations and convictions are implied at best at this point.

I would love her to be, for your sake alone :P

But the trailer made me think she won't be. She will be too busy leading armies and such... I can't imagine there ever being a trailer of Aveline leading armies or something. How can Cassandra be as powerful as she is and then just fall in line as a companion on an adventure. Also, she will be nearing 40, and that probably makes developers nervous (never mind that a majority of gamers are mature).

I sort of agree with this. The trailer could be depicting an end battle of course, but wasn't she supposed to be the right hand of the Divine? Still, could just be me not getting it I guess.

Unless... Could they be following the example of ME3 and make NPC's romancable..?

I'm thinking that the first companion reveal might be of a mage, considering that we will be entering during a time of great struggle surrounding mages. I'm hoping that the companion mage is a male this time around. The only male mage we got was Anders. Other then that they've all been female.

the thing about Varric  being a companion again worries me because for example Anders in Awakening  use to be pretty fun and come DA2 he was very very diffrent and very little humor  thats why i worry about Varric that he may become something like Anders and not so much fun as he use to be but more serious and bitter about the events that are happening...

Actually if I DID have to have Varric again as a companion, this would be the best way. For him to have grown and changed as a person... affected by the horrifc events that occurred, saddened by the loss of friends. This would be great.

Eventually? Really? Wow <_<

Polite response would be: We're not prepared to reveal anymore DAI info yet; sorry for the long wait! Etc.

They should know at this point not to tease us. We are loyal fans, we will LOVE and buy this game, and we are being very patient and totally understanding of the situation. But Don't. Tease. Us.

All great answers guys.

To clarify what I meant earlier, I didn't mean that our import did nothing in regards to the romance only that it might have happened because even if we chose a different origin Amell/Surana's story (and if female the romance) happened just like how we hear about the Dwarf commoner/noble in Origins and the Dalish in DA2.

Cassandra: Of all the companions I think Cassandra is the most likely to appear. She's been the most likely since we've known about the game, but Moto brings up a good point. I'm still hopeful, but she is rather high on the totem pole to be following orders. It's funny though considering how much evidence we have that points to her being a companion and we're still not sure if she is.

Varric: I'm a bit biased when it comes to whether I want Varric to be a companion. I mean on the one hand he is an awesome character and why show him in the first place if your not going to use him, but he's been a story centric character already in a full game. An expansion maybe, but another full game? I'd rather he just be an NPC. I like that his comic book appearance showed up in the trailer though.

Morrigan: No. She is definitely not going to be a companion, major NPC probably, but unless she pulls an Anders and is really important for a few moments than she isn't going to be a companion.

I'm wondering if the companion details we got from that leak is at all valid anymore and if we'll hear about Dorian, the Iron Bull or Sera first. I mean Anders was revealed second to last during the lead up to DA2.

Yeah if he shows up I think he needs to bring something new to the table.  More of the same is fine, but its not interesting. I wonder what could change him though. He's lost his true love and started a world war....and he's still a snarky little bastard, so what's it take?

Hmm.. You know what, I think I'm just gonna take a break for a while. I can't muster the energy to feel excited about the game any longer (sprint review, yay), and it's been great hanging out with you guys (thanks for having me!) but I'm starting to feel like a killjoy.

I might pop in from time to time to say hi, but for now I just wanted to say that this is the nicest corner of the BSN by far. I wasn't even that into Cullen when I came here... Image IPB

Take care, people, and I'll see you all when we have some news (which right now feels like "never" Image IPB)!

That's understandable, I've been feeling pretty disenchanted with it myself. It's hard to keep up excitement levels with little to nothing to go on.

Hopefully when you return we'll have a decent chunk of info to work with.

I feel a bit like that (plus DD has distracted me!) You do get a bit deflated. I mean, it feels like a drought with no water in sight (not even a trickle).

Commander Kurt - you're not a killjoy! Hope to see you posting again soon. I'm using Aedan at the moment. He's awesome (and v cute)!
