I mean, I understand how that can be aggravating knowing they are actually playing the game while we haven't seen even one screencap, but this is sort of a good thing! The sooner they have full levels complete and polished, the sooner we are more likely to see some teasers of them. I guess I'm just trying to stay positive here, balance out some of the frustration <3

Ok, back downstairs to learn more about the DAI campaign. Can't reveal much but I can say there is an Inquisition. #SprintReviewDay

Staying positive, and photomanipulating Cullen onto half naked men are my speciality ;)

I was thinking about the backlash that they recieved from some of the first screenshots they released for DA2, and I can totally understand their hesitation. They were from the first scene in Lothering, and they were torn apart on the internet for the cartoony, bland looks of the characters and scenery. They're under a microscope for every little detail from both the fans and EA, anything less than spectacular is going to draw comparisons to the failures of past games.

They were cut. The game is now Age Inquisition. Woe betide you if you're under 11 or over 63. Heretics!

So that's why they've kept ya around!! :D:lol:

Oh was it really that bad? Wow. I admit I was less than positive about the characters' looks when the DAI trailer came out. But it was more because they would NOT SHUT UP about the awesome graphics and "YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO BE AMAZED" and blah blah blah they kept spouting out before releasing the trailer. Then the trailer is released, and I was like, oh, there's Varric. He looks fine... Cassandra... wow, she looks different. But okay. Oh what, Morrigan's back?! Ugh... Huh, she looks the same. Her hair is really stiff. /TRAILER ENDS

 I was waiting to be amazed and it never happened lol Instead it was just "kind of nice" and "cool" LOL

Oh and I'm still not over the uglification of the qunari. That guy was hideous  Qunari in DA2 were such sexy beasts. I weep for their former sexy selves.

Plus, other than him, no new faces at all, plus a generic DudeBro hero at the end.

Look at me, I'm back to tearing them up  Sorry, BW. :crying:

He looks like any Qunari we've seen in the games to me...

I'm more excited than anything that they are playing the game on PS3, and etc. ^_^

Yea, I don't mind their slight redesign that much either. I mean, his head was a little disproportionate, but they're supposed to be these intimidating, scary monsters through the eyes of man. I'm more interested in how they are going to handle the elves appearance. I like the concept of them looking more unique, rather than just being skeletal humans w/ pointy ears. Their eyes were just a tad too oversized to look natural in DA2, and I didn't like how any of the races noses looked for some reason, humans included.

I'm sorry you didn't really enjoy the trailer :( They did really build it up, so I can see where you're coming from.

I liked seeing the familiar faces, and Morrigan is one of my favorites so I'm a bit biased when it comes to her appearance.

What do you mean by "generic DudeBro"?

I was impressed at the new graphics/appearance, but I was just kinda sad that it didn't give us anything new info wise. The trailer only reiterated what we already knew a year ago.

Well I really REALLY wanted to see a woman. Barring that, someone who did not resemble the traditional video game hero... a person of color, or... they could show us his face, and he's a redhead, or something NOT THE SAME. That sillouette could be default Hawke in a hood, or Sacred Ashes trailer Warden. It's all the same. Muscular White Hero... yes, I know, we couldn't see his face; he could be black or brown for all we know.

But here's another thing, let's just say it's a little jarring when Morrigan asks what "I" will do, and the scene cuts to ... a generic looking hero dude. Obviously she is not talking to "me"!

That tells me that the developers are not marketing this game to ME; they are marketing it to someone else. (I mean I'm not saying that was their intend, of course not! I know they love all their fans and try to reach them all. But the set-up of that trailer, particularly that line, and then cutting to that scene, was not well done.)

The male protagonist from the concept art looked Rivani to me, so that's definitely not white. Still, would've been cool to get a female for once.

... But don't you usually play a male protagonist anyway?

Yeah, I was just thinking this; maybe... to people who aren't as obsessed as we are, some of that info was new and exciting??  But since we talk everything to death, we were just like, whatever, totally knew that already, moving on lol

Yes  I'm an odd girl!

But one, I usually play as an elf male or small-ish male character (not a muscular guy) because I feel like that's my true self.

Secondly, just the way Morrigan addressed the viewer, they perhaps unintentionally broke the fourth wall and addressed the player (in this case "me") and then flashed in the next scene towards the point-of-view character... which linked that character with "me" (as in, me, myself... the player. Not the character I play. In this case, they are one in the same, and that felt jarring, because I am not THAT GUY in that sandstorm scene.)

Yeah I was talking about the trailer though.

It would be very, very cool if the default PC were Rivaini.

Yeah as a self-professed elf-lover :P I am obviously very interested in how the elves will look... especially if my Warden makes an appearance.... (which I'm 95% sure he won't)... but also if Fenris or Zevran make an appearance.

I ... I can't even express how violently my heart would rip in two if Fenris turned fugly :o

The qunari, yes they are supposed to be large and imposing, as this guy was, though perhaps 10 times more than usual... his head was really really small, and his shoulders more massive than usual, and the head was also extremely low set.

Basically, it is the same design, just very exaggerated. DA2: head slightly low set on bulky shoulders... DAI trailer: tiny head dropped way low on ultra massive shoulders.

Yea, it's a disappointment to see trailer after trailer w/ the typical beefcake male protag. Xbox's part was particularly disappointing for me. That's a whole other three headed monster to try and battle over, but hopefully w/ future marketing Bioware will be showing off a female PC as well at the male. It takes up resources, but when they are showing in-game footage already, and we have the choice to create both genders it really shouldn't be that difficult ya know?

I do like how they portrayed Cassandra as such a influential and strong female character, even from the viewpoint of someone who has never picked up the game. I will take whatever I can get, so seeing not only her but Morrigan as the prominant characters in the trailer was quite a treat.

That's what I mean though, the survey leak has been correct so far, so chances are the guy in the sandstorm was of a Rivani skin tone, which is a step up from white dudebro at least.

True that on Cassandra; well you can't say DA (and ME, too) haven't treated female characters the same way they've treated male characters: both men and women can be strong, weak, powerful, stupid, intelligent, evil, kind, and all of the above in BW games. Reason numero uno they are my favorite developers...

Hmm, maybe the horns are too heavy?

And I liked the idea behind the new elf design - it was DIFFERENT, but the design on some elves just did not look good. Like my poor Zevran! *sobs* My poor baby! The design looked great on Fenris, Merrill, Merithari, and Lia. Every other elf appeared disproportionate. So, when BioWare said they were looking for a good in-between...I really hope Fenris looks like his normal sexy broody self if he should make a cameo.
