@LXendria and Lola, agree on the robed dude. That's why it struck me. Those aren't gauntlets, it's like some robed monk dude sending you on your Hero's Quest. Meaning... He's probably just a symbolic stand in.

I wonder what will become of that spirit now it's been transferred into Evangeline? An ex-templar running around with a spirit inside her... I wonder if the sheer amounts of lyrium she's been consuming for years will affect things?

oh man, I always forget about that. Another great reason to want to see Evangeline again. I wonder... If DG was suggesting tht Wynnes spirit is now pride... What would happen inside an ex-templar-******-freedom-fighter?

Well that'd definitely be tragic and dramatic. As it's Gaider. I'm sure something bad's going to happen, if it further gets mentioned at all.

LOL "Something bad." Yeah, no doubt.

What I really wonder is if/how the game will address Asunder. They're so adamant about not requiring knowledge of these ancillary products... But Asunder is pretty key. Historical events can be summarized, but what about characters? Would they really introduce a book character to the games, do you think?

They tell us not to pay attention to the survey leaks, but thus far the survey's been pretty spot-on.

If that's still the case, there's still Cole who might make an appearance. Too many people and they'd require too much explanation to someone new to the people, or people who just started on the 3rd game.

Unless they brought in some people that not much explanation is necessary for, and if you've read the books, it's just a bonus.

I think they could, any mention from the characters of their past adventures would probably be throwaway dialogue I think like how Anders mentions his old friend.

I might be late to the party, but is it just me or does the map in the teaser trailer say Empire of Orlais?

TBH, I would like some closure on Cole. But I'm less enthusiastic about him being a companion. I suppose you could explain his backstory pretty simply... His murder spree is prob independent of game canon (eg Wynne's schroedinger's cat status). Plus I think Lambert's disappearance was in WoT timeline, so a "fact"?

I'm wishy-washy when it comes to whether I want him or not. Seeing what he could look like excites me, but something turns me off about him, idk. His status as a spirit/demon is what is cool, but his crazy is kind of...idk

LOL Um, me. Back before we learned not to expect anything from the trailer to necessarily be in game, I tried to eek as much info out of the map scene as I could. They came out with a clearer shot of the map later, but the geography above is still correct.

Marker 4 turned out to be just a catapult. Marker 2 is a helmeted, winged woman. Marker 1 has dragons...?

Since there's so much controversy and mixed feelings about him, I think that ups the likelihood of him being in the game, maybe even as a companion. Because there'd probably be lots of drama involving him and his crazies.

They always bring us lots of characters where if we have personal interaction with them and perhaps didn't like them at first, we get to know them and start to like them. I think it'd be interesting to let us influence him for the better or worse, like Rhys did.

Closure would be nice, too. He could be a little different to be around now that he's more aware of whatever it is that he is. We'd probably only get closure if he's around us. In Asunder, he had a bigger part in the story. Finding closure thru the sidelines wouldn't exactly be as much oomph, to me anyway, since if he's not in the party, I can only imagine finding closure by means of having to end up killing him or something. If he's not introduced as a companion and that happens, it's less personal to an outsider not knowing of him before, and he'd be reduced to a generic demon enemy role.

If Cullen -and- Cole are in the party, that could be pretty fun. Cullen's only been around abominations with pretty much one goal. Kill kill kill! Which is funny, because that's a big part of Cole's thing, and yet, he has more layers, you can have a more coherent conversation with him, etc.. Cullen's first instinct would be to kill him, but if he's in the party, he'd be forced to "play nice". Could make for some interesting dialogue.

Yeah, on Cole, I think I was thinking of closure purely in terms of finding out what he is at long last. But that's a good point that anything substantial with closing his story arc would require him being as significant as a companion. I think Asunder!Cole gave me enough heebie Jeebies that I'd prefer not to have him as a follower... But post-Asunder, aware!Cole could be rather fascinating to meet. In fact, that would be a nice way to add value onto a returning character, since that would all be new. Hmm... Interest now piqued?

LOL the scene where Cullen first finds out that Cole's a demon would be awesome. That's got old fashioned Origins Persuade written all over it!

That's a nice map R2! Do you think it's accurate anymore?  I think that the trailer has possibly no bearing on the game is what bothers me the most.

Back to the demon thing for a moment because I'm laaaate...

I think Anders and Wynne's circumstances are different enough that you can't really compare them. Not exactly, at least. Wynne's spirit, I believe, was still in the fade when it possessed her/protected her, so it isn't technically 'inside' her but protecting her from the Fade. Her circumstances are more like Connor's, I guess?

While Justice was cast from the Fade and thrown into the waking world, thanks to a certain crazy. He 'haunted' a corpse first and then transferred to Anders, so he's... more directly inside Anders so to speak? Which is probably why we couldn't save Anders the same way we saved Connor. (And then there was how Anders wouldn't let us do anything for him, of course.)

I also think Justice was slowly becoming corrupt long before he possessed Anders. Anders was just so focused on how he was a friend/had spent time with him, that he didn't see it. I had Justice and Anders in my party alllll the time during my 'canon' Awakening playthrough, and some of what Justice said/experienced was toeing the line long before he and Anders became one. Especially when he started hinting that he was envious of love, relationships, and so on...

I know my mage was thinking "this is going to end so BADLY" during the whole thing.

...Rogue? With a ton of skills that are persona to him?

I feel like the only one here who is all: "Creepy as hell companion that might give me the heebie jeebies? Bring it on!"

I would love to know about Cole, and I would love any kind of creepy/questionable companions. It just adds more interest for me. I don't need everyone to be a pillar of non-creepiness.

Completely forgot about Connor's situation!

That does make more sense.

I played Awakening after already knowing what happens in 2. Thought it was amazing just how much foreshadowing they did with Justice.

The problem with Cole is that everyone would forget he was in the party after a few hours/days, lol. Unless he's managed to get that under control now?

I think he'd have more control now. His problem before was not being aware of using blood magic. And now that he is aware, maybe he'd be able to do it at will. Unless he's aware but still has no control over it. Could go lots of ways, I guess.

See Gaider said he wasn't a demon/abomination and that he was "something else", so perhaps he's got a corrupt spirit in him too?

Maybe the original Cole died over time (in the same way that Anders begins to lose himself to Justice in a rivalmance). We know Cole's been around for years so chances are the spirit within him has taken over but has also lost touch with what it originally was due to the lingering pain, suffering and subconscious memories left over from the "real" Cole he possessed years ago. Perhaps they merged and now they are one mind with all their confused memories intertwined.

Put me down as one who'd really like to experience Cole as a companion 8D From what little I know of him (not having read Asunder), he's always intrigued me. In fact, after Cullen, (and a whole slew of characters I know I won't get), Cole is the one I want most.

Looking at the robed figure a few pages I am wondering if the Inquisition is like some powerful secret heretical group of some sort.

Re Cole, I do find him an interesting character and after reading Asunder I wanted to know more about him. He seemed so tragic. So I would quite like him as a companion (not a LI though), as dual wielding rogue.

MMG - Do you still need an Arisen's Bond?

Hey, thanks. Well, the map itself is accurate in that the map I whipped up matches the map in the Cassandra underground lair scene. As far as what her map represents, I suppose it's anyone's guess. Even if there's no "underground lair, map stabbing" scene in the game, BW did create a map with strategic forces laid out on it (even if the positioning and such also isn't 'real'). So, someone in the game has need of a bigass Orlais map with battle markers on it. Heck, that even could have been us in that scene, with Cassandra standing in for the trailer. Given the level of detail in the map markers, I can't help but think that they represent real forces at play, one of whom was the Inquisition symbol. The other two...? Tevinter or the demony hordes from the Fade? The Divine or Grand Duke? Time will tell.
