 Replace those faces with our own and it works. Damn it, BioWare! THROW US A BONE, GDI!

I kind of get nervous about the DAI protagonist, wondering if I will be able to like him as much as I loved Hawke. I'm sure many people feel the same about their Warden. Hawke was the first protagonist I'd ever created for an RPG (DA2 was my first RPG). His character, and his romance with Fenris (my canon) are like so near and dear to my heart. After that, I was pretty much unmoved by Shep x Kaiden, and although I love my Warden x Zevran it doesn't touch me in the same way.

Maybe if Cullen really is a LI, and his story is written with care and depth (as I'm sure it would be), I could learn to fall for Inquisitor x Cullen.

I know how you feel MMG. I love my warden and her and Alistair are special to me. Heck, I still squee over the things Alistair says to my warden even though I've seen it a million times. I am afraid that I won't feel so..in love with the inquisitor. Or that I wont feel like its MY character, even though we are supposed to be able to customize them better and everything.

I love my Warden and Morrigan relationship it seems so complete to me...idk I didn't get the happy ending in Origins but he kept searching for her throughout the epilogue of Origins, Awakening etc, he had a ring that reminded him of their love. He finally starts to catch up to her and with his faithful dog and a few other interested parties he finally finds her and after professing his love leaves with her to be with her away from darkspawn, Flemeth and whatever other person who wants to keep them apart and to raise the son that saved his life.

My Hawke and Isabela their romance is beautiful, but as much as I love how she comes back because she cares about him and even offers to give up other lovers/tries to be a better person in general it didn't really have that thing that connects me to it like the Origin's romance. I'd still give it a 10/10 though.

I really hope that whoever my Inquisitor romances it delivers that emotional impact that both of the previous two did.

I definitely felt Origins did better in the romance department, though they had their flaws/glitches, too. Loved Alistair's the most, but it felt like you got to the best bits earlier on in the relationship, and Zevran's gets better near the end, but his end-battle dialogue is so buggy!

In 2, Anders is my main pick. Hits you a little more, the ending, if you romanced him, but in a friendmance, found his end-dialogue pretty lacking. The most satisfying, for me, was Fenris, but I guess I enjoy drama, because end up picking Anders usually.

But they still didn't hit me the same way, the romances.

I feel in Mass Effect I was hit more for a romance, because you potentially can carry over the same romance or friendships thru 3 games, so you -really- get to know them and care for them.

When it's just one game, they really need to pack a punch.

Since so many were angry with DA2 and the Mass Effect 3 endings, they're gonna have to really step up everything in DA:I, and I think they will.

Many have worried the character development or writing will take a backseat because of all the talks of pretty environments and graphics, but I think enough anger has been thrown at them in regards to story related things, that they might be more careful about that, they seem aware of how much people give a damn about their characters and stories, and with all this extra time they have on it, hopefully they're able to really flesh out everything and make it all better than it was before.

Since the plot seems to really rev up that drama much worse than previous games, your character's gonna be bombarded with bad stuff happening. End of the world all at once, not just one country with problems, all countries with problems, etc. etc.., they're gonna have to really give us someone special to share the load with.. or since this is a BioWare game, probably someone who makes the burden heavier to carry. Definitely expecting some emotional impacts.

Well Cullenites... I suppose we shall see this through together lol It's true, Lord Xendria, I've had that same niggling concern, that all this talk of amazing graphics and gameplay and what not could mean that writing and characters are taking a back seat. But with DG still head writer, I have to believe that that's just not going to happen. That man gave me my dear Fenris, after all, so I have to believe only good things will come of DA:I. Sure wish I knew who was writing Cullen though. If it were DG himself I think I would be overjoyed and 100% sure that the romance (lots of assuming going on here LOL) would be awesome, and that the connection to my PC would be perfect and deep and, well, you get the picture.

Of course, that said, DG also wrote Zevran lol And not that I don't love Zevran, but... yeah. Though I think that was more the fault of the silent PC than anything else. I think I could have loved Warden-with-a-personality x Zevran. Like, really really loved it. (I'm not as good as you guys at fantasizing, or rather, I've had the urge to write a Warden x Zevran fic forever because the game itself left me so unfulfilled. But of course I have no time to write lengthy fics these days, plus there is the crushing self-doubt that always keeps me from embarking upon such a project lol So far I have two chapters, and that's after a year...).

It's funny that people got upset about DA2 and ME3 writing; well, personally I think ME3 was perfect, but as for DA2, the writing and characters were its best features.

I TOTALLY forgot that Mr. Gaider wrote Zevran! Yep, he's quickly becoming my favorite person.

It's funny, the DA2 romances, while I love them, left me unfulfilled. The DAO romances did so much better - probably because we got to speak to the characters more often and knew so much more about them. I love how Zev reacted when you brought him back to the Alienage if you were a City Elf. He acts so surprised and slightly worried: "Oh damn...a wedding? Did s/he get married?! Is s/he still around?! Was I just a convenience?! Does s/he still love their husband/wife?! THIS IS WHY I CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS."

I hope they bring back the option to speak to them at will, instead of just mostly quest specific things. One of the things I liked better about Origins than 2. Seemed like you learned more thru actual talking to the companions, whereas in 2, most extra bits were when they were talking amongst themselves. Ya sorta got both in Origins.

I still loved 2, though. I didn't find it -as- satisfying, but still pretty satisfying. In fact, I usually end up replaying 2 more often than Origins. I think they both had their flaws and good points, so hopefully Inquistion will be as they said, a mixture of the best of both!

And I hope there's closure. Alot of people want closure. So hopefully they do that in a way that is satisfying to the majority in regards to the Warden and Hawke, and even our new Inquisitor. No up in the air, "What the Hell happened to my character?!" or generic faceless corpse in a bodybag. Word of mouth scenario is more likely, but if that's the case, that has to be good, too, not just a passing mention, especially if our past characters have disappeared.

That not only deals with them, but any love interest they had. I'd like to see the impact of that on the LI, if they know where they are, or if they've been broken up over it looking for them, etc..

I was able to relate with my Warden. Not so much with Hawke. I felt like Hawke was a pre-made character and the only affect I had on the character was the way she looked. I really did like the Hawke x fenris romance though, I'll admit. Just not the character. IMO the Warden was a character I feel I actually changed to make my own representation of the kind of character I'd see in that situation.

I'm not worried about the Inquisitor because even though we haven't gotten like ANY info on her/him, I can tell I'm going to like them. I don't know why lol.

I had a similar experience with my Hawke, but I think it might be based on my inability to really connect to any of the companions in DA2. With my Warden, it felt like she was on this grand adventure w/ this group of close friends, who fought, traveled, and lived w/ for months at a time. With Hawke, yea it occured over the spanse of 10 yrs, but I felt like I hardly knew what the dynamic between her and any of the companions were. You never really get to hear about any of their history, aside from brief comments during way too short cutscenes (I feel so bad for Merrill fans, her cutscenes were horrendously short)

Ohh nice! That's Vega 2.0 actually. I made the mistake of letting my little cousin play the other day, and realized too late that he was still signed in under my name and erased my game to start a new one :pinched: It's alright, I like the look of my new PC better anyway

Well I like 'em both, so yea, bring the on the zealots!

I don't think she hates mages, just is more annoyed w/ them for the situation at hand. Her duty is to the Chantry, but she even seems to be annoyed with them too. I can understand where people see Cullen as "grr kill all mages" but it's just a simplistic and shallow view of what he actually says in conversations. He emphasizes that he truly believes mages are safter inside the circle, not just for others but for the mages as well. Is he right? That's up for debate, but I don't think his beliefs come from a place of hatred, more mistrust and over caution.

Same with Evangeline, she was a bit worse than Cullen (in my opinion), yet everyone liked her. I wonder if it's simply because Cassandra and Evangeline are hot females, where as Cullen is a dude and has a lot of hate from males.

The moral of the story: It's ok to be a complete jerk if you're a hot woman, LOL!

It's the "Mages cannot be treated like people. They are not like you and me" - it's going to haunt him forever.

Littlenikki, I used Vega for the final battle yesterday. I'm not sure if he was version 1 or 2 though!

Dayum...I just read this really angry post about Gaider's reaction on Tumblr to a person expressing disappointment in not being able to romance Aveline or Varric (aka the Deli Dilemma) Not sure how many of you read it, but did any of you feel personally "picked on" by his analogy?

Yeah, I saw it. It does seem like he really doesn't like people fangirling/fanboying over his characters, especially the non-romanceable ones.

If DG is writing him, I'd think we could at least expect a great deal of heartache
