Dayum...I just read this really angry post about Gaider's reaction on Tumblr to a person expressing disappointment in not being able to romance Aveline or Varric (aka the Deli Dilemma) Not sure how many of you read it, but did any of you feel personally "picked on" by his analogy?

Yeah, I saw it. It does seem like he really doesn't like people fangirling/fanboying over his characters, especially the none romanceable ones.

sooo does this mean we should expect a  non romanceable Cullen again?

Hard to say. I mean, the difference with Varric and Aveline is that they were specifically made not to be romanced. Cullen, on the other hand, has no real reason not to be romanceable if he's a companion. So if he isn't then it'll probably be because DG and the other writers decided that they don't want him to be, maybe because us fangirls have annoyed them, or because they feel it's right for his story.

If DG is writing him, I'd think we could at least expect a great deal of heartache

LOL, most definitely. Mind you, there wasn't too much with Fenris or Isabela. Or Alistair, Zev and eventually Morrigan for that matter.

Same with Evangeline, she was a bit worse than Cullen (in my opinion), yet everyone liked her. I wonder if it's simply because Cassandra and Evangeline are hot females, where as Cullen is a dude and has a lot of hate from males.

The moral of the story: It's ok to be a complete jerk if you're a hot woman, LOL!

ya apperantly if ur a hot chick its ok to be a zealot and hate mages

That is EXACTLY the point I was about to make before my internet went to the Deep Roads. >:[

And that could be it, exactly! A lot of people dislike Zev because he's pervy, and yet a lot of people looooove Isabela! So I'm just as confused as y'all are: apparently it's okay for a woman to be a jerk and to hump everything that moves.

Which, I'm already a bit of a jerk, so one down! :kissing:

I can understand where he is coming from, but at the same time, yes, I did feel a little picked on. Sometimes - well, most of the time - you can't help who you are attracted to (whether in real life or pixelated). I LOVE Varric - I would love to have him as a romance, but if he's not then I won't throw a hissy fit because I can so easily see him as the BFF. I see nothing wrong with wanting to romance a character that is currently not romanceable. I suppose Mr. Gaider feels like BioWare already gave us a lot with the romances, so why would we want what we cannot have? Which, if you know women/are a woman you know very well what we can't have we want even more! XD And I recall that he doesn't really like romances, and would rather have them taken out, but he acknowledges that it is one of the things that made BioWare extremely popular.

So what am I saying? Not sure to be honest. The...the cake is a lie?

I think it just gets frustrating for him when he is continually told that he handled his own characters wrong. I also think he was kinda drunk when he wrote that thing too

Yeah, that's understandable. Tbh, I get a bit uptight when people tell try to push me to do videos about certain characters or things that I have no interest in, LOL! Gawd, I'm gonna be a rubbish YouTuber!

I mean think about it, for every good thing that is written online about the world and characters he pretty much formed from scratch, there are about ten other much louder voices stomping that one good one into the dirt. He's human, he's not going to be a perfectly mannered robot, and if something pisses him off he d@mn well should have the right to rant about it! Maker knows the fans don't hold back when something tickles us the wrong way :P
I dunno, I guess the one comment about "us doing him a favor by buying the games, not him doing us a favor by making the games" really rubs me the wrong way. It takes so much effort and hardwork to create these games that we as the audience can get lost in. I imagine that he puts so much of himself out there especially with the characters. With the negativity of this forum in particular (not this thread! the BSN as a whole) it's only human for him to get defensive. As for attacking females in particular, he's given plenty of sh*t to the male fans as well! So there ya go, he hates us all equally  Now everyone get in a circle and start crying so we can send him our tears.

I think his general attitude towards the fandom got worse once DA2 came out, especially with the whole Hepler situation, it's no real wonder why he thinks the majority of us are the scum of the earth.

No idea, I dared not to venture in there. Probably because they didn't like how the story was handled, or just had an issue w/ the game in general and blamed it all on him. There was one for Mike Laidlaw too, so I guess it wasn't all on him <_<

Gosh, the game wasn't that bad!

I mean, ok when I first played it I wasn't keen, but not enough to wanna try and get people fired. It's no wonder he hates us!

Hepler wasn't that great of a writer, but I like what she did with Anders - it made sense. I may dislike the Deep Roads and Orzammar with the passion of a thousand suns, but she did not deserve all that hate. :(

Act II was great, and the overall plot was a great entry as to what's going to be happening in the world now. The big issues for me were the minor details, the way weapons were modeled and animated, repeated maps and unrealistic combat flow. There was still that driving force behind me though to get to the end and see what happens. I think I stayed up all night once I hit the meaty bits of Act III and made it to the final battles. Afterwards I felt a bit disenchanted, like I just played through one big "on the next episode of Dragon Age" Origins set up some really high expectations for me as far as choice and interaction, so I only hope they can continue that excellence onto Inquisition.

That being said, she wrote Cullen in Dragon Age 2 and he showed so much character development and growth in comparison to his origins in DA:O.

I'm not worried about DA:I, they'll have spent about 4 years on it by the time it ships so I know it'll be good. My only concern for it is whether or not Cullen will be a companion/LI, aside from that I'm good with whatever.
