I really want those rings to do something. Like maybe we put one on and it doesn't come off. Cassandra sees us do it, tries to stop us and then when she fails conscripts us.

It would probably be either the Seeker ring or the red glowy one.

This is intruiging, Danny!! Kind of like Arthur and Excalibur. I like it!

So long as it doesn't summon ringwraiths or Imhotep!

It is a neat idea! Altho, I still can't picture those rings corresponding to actual rings in game...

Then the question becomes: why is a single lone figure riding a halla towards my castle?

Hot elven sex slave, special delivery?

Of all people, I'd have thought you'd find this idea trollishly offensive! mmg, you never cease to surprise me!! Image IPB

S/he also looks like they're holding a fishing pole to me. Weird fanfic ideas..... GO!!  Image IPB

Would I be boring if I said I thought it was a donkey and the stick had food on it to keep the animal moving?

LOL It does look like that!

Maybe there are other horned mounts in Thedas we've never heard of, that aren't halla??  I keep seeing this old fantasy book cover in my head.

I've been imagining that we need the rings to close the tear in the veil or maybe even transport us to the specific place in the Fade we need to go.

So... when it says that the castle "wasn’t hidden, it was uncontrolled. Like the power you now command." -- do you think the power we command is up till now uncontrolled, or uncontrolled and ALSO "never hidden"?

... Because that could be a game changer!

I read it as the power we command USED to be uncontrolled, but now we control it. Also, that we thought it was just hidden, but  it wasn't. So some kind of wild, uncontrolled magic in plain sight, that we, the Chosen One(s), gain control over... ?

OH! That could be the Inquisition! They used to do their own thing willy nilly because they were originally just regular folks taking the law into their own hands and were uncontrolled, but now it's resurrected we control it. Maybe?

Pssh you never let me have any fun....lol

@R2: I think the major thing standing in the way of my theory is that they would have to design every armor in the game to show the rings and to show only the ones you have at the time.

See... that's what I'd like to know: what plain sight might mean in terms of this power. There are lots of forbidden powers in Thedas. Have we heard of this power? Does everyone know about it and fear or desire it, and we just haven't heard of it before? Or is it also secret and maybe unique and I'm putting two meanings into that sentence where there's only one (the uncontrolled part)?

Unless you just don't have the resolution to see the rings... erm, ever...? Kind of like how I never saw the eye color of my Origins PC on my old  machine.  Heh, OK, not ideal. Um... invisible rings!!  Yeah, that's it... and you can only see them if  you really believe... in ... um, horned donkeys...

Yeah, I got nuthin. :?

Love. This. ! HAHA! It could be that easy... the  power doesn't necessarily have to be magical. (or is that magickal? ;))

Hmm. Well not being hidden isn't necessarily 'in plain sight' either. Maybe it's a power we thought was lost, but was really there all along...  I don't know. To me, they seem to be making a contrast between being hidden and uncontrolled. Like...  it was something they thought couldn't be found but instead  it was just ... uncontrolled/free/running around/unbound/unchained/up for grabs/(um, other synonyms for uncontrolled...?).

Maybe the castle isn't necessarily a secret, but because nobody owned/controlled it it wasn't important and so it was forgotten about. We now have control of a dangerous magic/force whether it's the Inquisition, rings, etc

Yeah, it was out in the middle of nowhere and maybe just forgotten about.

Divine: "Has anyone seen that ancient artifact the last Inquisition used to stop the Fade destroying Thedas?"

Seeker: "Nope, haven't seen it for centuries"

Divine: "Oh, nevermind, I've found it now"

Seeker: "Where was it?"

Divine: "Under the bed."

Me too, I love it when the hero was just in the wrong place at the wrong time so that it could've literally happened to anyone and then we rise to the challenge because we have no choice. Plus, it gives the protagonist a chance to b!tch about it if we want to.

My Dalish Warden protested until the very end. As soon as he killed the archdemon, he threw down his sword and was all, "Mahariel out." *stalks back to the Dales like a boss*

 That's how my Dwarf Commoner was! Sure she was happy Duncan saved her. As far as she was concerned, her sister was an ambassador and her brother in law was the king. She could FINALLY live comfortably, and happy with her family!

It was a lot like this.

It is GORGEOUS. I'd love to have it as a litho.

And I would say it was a donkey as well if there weren't little points along what I assumed to be ears. On closer inspection, I thought it was the mountain making them look like antlers, but nothing coincides. So, I will personally assume it is a halla or some other mount we have yet to hear about. :D

This tiny bit of news really made my day.

Love this! I could totally see Cassandra getting bitter that our n00b character gets to be Inquisitor.
Cass: "B-b-b-but..."
Divine: "Shut it!"
