I have a question for Cullen experts.... :wizard:

During the battle with Wilmod on the Wounded Coast I witnessed Cullen set his sword down and this glowing ball/orb formed in his hand. He then threw the ball/orb at one of the abominations and there is even a trail it leaves. He grabs his sword after and resumed normal fighting. Has anyone had this experience? Is it a Templar ability or a glitch?:wizard::o

Here is the only screenshot I was able to get of the orb and the trail that it leaves.

What is it? :o

It's probably just a templar ability.

You're probably right but I've never seen a Warden Carver do it. :o  Perhaps its connected to lyrium.

Cullen is a boss of a certain rank in that fight and those grenade thingies he throws are standard for the type of boss he is for that fight. you'll note he also does the rallying thing other bosses do tht you might be more familiar with. You can google the Cullen thread and find where we discussed it last time, or search for a listing of NPC bosses by rank. I don't remember the details anymore since it's been a while.

Thanks> I just never noticed it before. Broke a rib recently and Ive been doing a playthrough as I recover. Its amazing how I notice things I never noticed before. Could be the painkillers though. :pinched:

Same here. I tend to just rush through the game get my companions and see how awful the world looks by the end of the game. I like how they said that it won't just be save the baby/warlock because that happens a lot in RPGs and even though it's fun it gets a bit old.

wait does that mean we dont get to save anyone and that whatever choice we make will end up like DA2??

Where did you get that from?

I think they meant that the choices weren't going to be easy like baby/warlock thing. We might have to choose between a village or its alienage. That's a scenario I can think of.

This is also my interpretation; that the choices will be grey, not obviously black and white. The also dont have to always be death and despair, I reckon. Like how I agonized over whether or not to let Jowan out of his cell not knowing what the ramifications would be, or why Alistair was so set against it.

weeellll, and there you go then! Last time we talked about it.

OK... LOL I may have found something. Looks like it's a "Commander" rank ability, and the exact buff they can give out varies by faction.  edit: and it looks like the shiny grenade thing is a ... grenade...? for lack of a better word...

From http://social.biowar...ndex/8014189/1

[Commander]
The commander archetype not only presents a tough fight individually, but also plays a supporting role as well as direct command of its allies that greatly increases the peril posed by an opposing force. They can extend an aura over the battlefield, healing and conferring specific benefits on their allies. This archetype is also capable of self-defensive abilities and boasts a powerful medium-to-long range debilitation spell or Area of Effect artillery.
The aura appears as a halo around the commander's allies’ feet, though it may be lifted temporarily if the commander is stunned or incapacitated. This is one way to turn off the buff they provide for their subordinate ranks. Another would be to kill them outright. These auras vary and are specific to the faction of the Commander.
---Traits---
Immune to Silence; High armor and fortitude
---Abilities---
Aura of X - Any number of specific effects can be relayed by this aura to the commander's allies.
Field of Effect - From this single ability multiple effect may be employed by the different types of commanders you will encounter. From the Mass Pull of a Revanent, to the grenade of a human commander which can slow, damage, and interrupt anyone in a small area all in a single attack.
Faction Specific Incapacitation - Generally a single target stun.
Command - the commander can order his surrounding allies to focus on a single target.
Use of Potions

I thought it was some kind of Smite, he would do it all the time in my games.

The high-level templars use that attack all the time in my game. It's a real pain in the ass when you're in the middle of using an ability and it disrupts your attack.

I tend to follow him around during our first encounter with him in battle, just to watch what he does.

New info:
*snip*

Ooh, thanks Lola!

- Another section of the E3 trailer was intended to represent "decisions that matter". The scene with Varric and the dead bodies actually occurs in the game - a village is destroyed and its people wiped out because of actions that the Inquisitor did, or failed to do. They want consequences for our choices to ripple through the game.

Ha, this makes me think that Varric will be an actual companion.

I'm not sure, I haven't visited the main DAI forum today. I think he said he was going though, so it was probably him.

huh, it doessuggest that, doesn't it? Huh. Nice to know at least some of it was "real" in-game scenes.

Ooohhh!!! :o I know it's kinda weird to get excited about such a depressing in-game moment, but yay Varric!

hmm i found this kind of intresting

Is there any chance we will finally get to see the resolution to this loose end in DA III? If not in the main plot, then at the very least in a passing reference made by other charachters, or in a lore book found somewhere along one's adventures.

David Gaider

Hmm. How can I put this?

The results of the Dark Ritual, if it occurred in DAO, will have more than a passing reference in DAI.

Beyond that, you shall have to wait and see.

I'm not entirely keen on the idea of Varric being a companion, but I won't complain if he is.

@ag99 I think it's been said that the DR will play a part, but it won't be all encompassing since a good bit of players didn't take part in it.
