Omg, wouldn't it be the coolest if we catch him reading a book one evening and it's all like:

Protagonist: Cullen... what are you reading?
Cullen: Uh.. I erm, was just reading this book written by Varric Tethras... I met him once or twice, he was a friend of Hawke's
Protagonist: Yeah? What's the book called?
Cullen: "Fear and Lothering in Las Thedas"

Boom boom tish!

*Tumble weed rolls past*

Oh man, someone please write this....

Could it be . . . thread activity?! It is! :-D

Anyway, I'm all for the secret romance novels. Maybe some dirty ones here and there as well. I can just imagine how embarrassed he would be when the protagonist catches him in the act of reading one of them in private.

Cullen: "W-wait! I-i-it's not what you think!:
DA3 Pro: *Grins evilly* "I'm gonna get sooooo much mileage from this"

:lol::lol::lol:

Cullen is getting a bit daring with his reading, eh?

In addition to all of the other suggestions people have made, I've also imagined him reading page-turner action-adventure novels and potboilers.

It is 7pm here and it's 99 degrees outside.... am I the only one who finds this totally unacceptable?
Anyway, I'd love to see a scene where he's busted reading smut. Pure gold!

Like MissRedZelda added:
"It's not what you think..."
"Oh really? 'She raked her nails down his tawny back and moaned...' "
"Ok. It is what you think. But it's for research! I swear!"
"Mmmm hmmm." Image IPB

^^ LOL!

Hey guys, someone on deviantart made a suggestion on who should play a live action Cullen (if the need ever arose. I can see DA being more of a mini-series than a movie. Kinda like Hirst's Camelot). She suggested Jamie Campbell Bower.

Here's an image of him:

What do you think? Me, I don't really know. If he cut his hair, maybe? I think he'd make a better Alistair.

I think he's way too young and doesn't look like he's had enough field experience. He looks like someone that would pop up as his unexpected bastard son. He is awfully cute though.

I don't know if I could come up with a good Live action Cullen. That's a tough casting choice.

Hmm, interesting idea. Campbell Bower can certainly do genre (Harry Potter, Camelot, Twilight). But, to be honest, I've never found him remotely attractive. :(  [edit: I also concur with meanie that I think he looks way too young... at least, for now]

An interesting idea I saw floated on dragonageconfessions was Tom Hiddleston, likely due to the Loki-craze, but I didn't realize until then that he's a blondie -- or maybe a ginger, not sure. Anyway, didn't see it at the time. But the idea's kinda growing on me.

I . . . can actually see this guy as Cullen. Especially in the last image. He just needs to dye his hair and wear brown contacts.

I did say that I can't really see Campbel Bower as Cullen. Alistair, maybe. But not Cullen. Hiddleston is a good choice, though.

It's only imgainary casting, Lola. No need to fret. Who would you suggest, then?

I was agreeing with you MissRedZelda. I hope it didn't sound like I was chastising your comment. The second guy posted was at least a bit weather beaten but I'lm going with Lola.... I'm not finding him very appealing. I've got it real bad for Karl Urban but I don't think he could pull it off either. He scowls too much and would come across too broody, IMO.

I didn't get Hiddleston so much either, at least when I saw Thor and Avengers. But, now it's almost like I've been innoculated with a concentrated dose him on my tumblr, and the more non-Loki pics I see, the more attractive I think he is. :P  Funny how that happens. But part of it, I think for me at least, is  his mischievous smile... so very non-Culleny. But then, funny thing about those actors - they can act.

But, boy, wouldn't it be fun to have Karl Urban. *sigh* He's in there with James Purefoy for me.

Heh heh, for fun, a photomanip from a Purefoy templar movie called Ironclad, by Lady Avilia.

Lol I know.

Honestly, I've no idea who to cast as Cullen... I mean, he doesn't actually look like anyone famous that I can think of. I suppose if they were going to make a film it would have to be animated to make him look and sound like himself lol.

It would be more than fun... Image IPB I am completely infatuated with him on an almost unholy level.

And why have I not seen James Purefoy before? He's been in a ton of stuff byt it doesn't look like anything I've watched. lol

How about Chris Hemsworth? Doesn't really look like Cullen, but I'd happily let him play the part in a Dragon Age movie LOL.

I think the only way around it is to cast an unknown. The plus side would be that we wouldn't be tainted by a pre-disposed image from previous films. Another plus would be lower budget.

I always remember James Purefoy from A Knight's Tale, that Heath Ledger jousting movie. It's a small part, but he's a noble prince who knights the commonborn Ledger so he can continue to joust in the tournament. Then, of course, he was Marc Antony in that series Rome... Ahem. And, that was ... quite something.:whistle:

Also, love love love Karl Urban... especially from the Xena days. Hmm... guess I have a Rome fetish, as I just ADORED him as Julius Ceasar. :D And, Cupid. LOL

Oh my stars, kill me now. I'll never forget how the whole movie theatre squeed when Thor walked out in just a pair of jeans... LOL including me. This could work! For ... reasons.

OK, can't resist.

edit: Hmm, can you tell my husband has been out of town for a week? We've now hit upon every celeb crush I think I have. LOL

James Purefoy is an incredibly attractive man and an incredibly talented actor, but in-game blond or ginger Cullen with his square jaw and beautiful eyes is too ingrained in my imagination for Mr. Purefoy to satisfy. Henry Cavill, on the other hand, is pale enough to get away with dyed-blond hair, and he really has the right jawline for the part. And then, there's the VA himself.

Now there's some eye candy. While we're at it, we can just hire the cast of Magic Mike to play a bunch of recruits for the big Templar locker room scene that would have to be required.

R2 - I'm afraid I missed the Xena days. I only caught random episodes and they never seemed to be the Ceasars or Cupids. He was yummy in Ghost Ship - not a great film and he did get chopped up but still.

Oh dear, I've probably just dated myself! LOL If you're fan, and like Xena, at least the J.C. eps are worth checking out.  Haven't seen Ghost Ship, but I actually sat through that viking movie, Pathfinder, just because of him...

But, I agree that an unknown will be more appropriate for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that I couldn't imagine a Dragon Age movie having the budget to draw big name talent, and not for an NPC.

R2 - we're about the same age =/- a year. LOL

Ghost Ship was bad. Just bad. I also sat through Pathfinder for the same reason. And I only missed Xena because I was po' and single and living in NYC which meant I was always at work or in a bar! Image IPB

Xena was my childhood. I'm kinda surprised my parents actually let me watch it (I was quite young when it began airing), but I think I turned out juuuuust fine. *Drinks from a skull whiling firing a gun in the air* Sorry, I need to do that every twelve minutes.

. . . . . Nostalgia Critic joke.

The Campbell Bower idea wasn't mine, meanieweenie, son no need to worry about insulting me :-) I agree with you, anyway. He is a bit too young to play Cullen. Alistair maybe, but not Cullen.

Which actually brings up a question, how old is Cullen supposed to be in DA:O? He's clearly not old at the beginning of DA:O, and I've always theorised that the mage PC is in her/his early 20s.And he's not a full Templar yet, to boot.
