In any case, my only point previously was that it makes sense Cassandra would ask Varric for a way to find Hawke, not Cullen, because she's not there to find out what happaned with Meredith. She thinks she knows. She just wants to turn the screws on Varric to get an insight on where the Champion went/would be. Right? And Varric was her friend. Cullen wasn't nearly as close with her (according to canon... ahem... <_<).

Now, that being said... if I were looking for someone, ideally I'd want to find out as much about where they were last seen as I could. If that was the fight with Meredith, I'd probably also want to talk to the folks who were there... like Cullen. Which unfortunately again begs the question of why the heck didn't she ask Cullen...? *sigh*

Maybe he was thrown in the dungeons, and that knowledge hasn't exactly been spread around; maybe kept hush hush?

But, if he's in a dungeon somewhere... he'd be easy for her to question, right? *sigh* Too many question marks. I mean, is it plausible that he's really just on the other side of Kirkwall, sitting in Meredith's office, when Cass is going to all this trouble to track down Varric and question him?

Varric was the BFF of the Champion, that's canon, widely known by anyone in Thedas who has heard the tale. Varric pulled strings to keep everyone, especially Hawke safe. If I was Cass, I'd probably go straight to Varric, but ALSO go to every other witness for consistencies. I'd think Cullen has been locked away without anyone knowing, maybe beacuse he's an embarrassment to the order according to the situation; but that also just raises more questions.

If Hawke was a mage, Cullen ignored his duty and let Hawke go. Very no-no in the order.
If Hawke sided with tha mages, she should have been taken in because any accomplice to mage freedom is usually reprimanded...harshly, apparently.
If Hawke sided with the Templars, then she is the new Viscount; so I don't think Cullen would get into trouble...?

I don't know! My brain hurts! :pinched:

Heh here's a question. What if what happens to Cullen also depends on what happened to your Hawke? i.e. pro-templar Hawke, Cullen is Gallows KC; pro-mage Hawke, Cullen is wandering mercenary/prisoner/farmer.

That would be interesting, although I dunno if maybe they'd consider that a waste of resources unless it was just a passing mention or something.

In regards to a pro-templar Hawke, chances are Cullen would only be protected until after Hawke left/disappeared. I suppose it depends on how long pro-templar Hawke stuck around for.

For someone like Cullen, probably. But I was thinking something like how you see Alistair, briefly, either as a drunk or King or GW. Not as extensive as they would do for Alistair (of course), but perhaps if Cullen is just a brief cameo NPC, his appearance could maybe depend on your Hawke import. If he's a bigger character than that, like a companion, of course it would def be too many resources.

Yeah, if it's just a passing cameo then that would be easy. If he's a major character or companion then that would probably be too resource heavy.

Cass might have known abt the idol and Meredith tho.

At one point before the deep roads she says to Varric something abt how Hawke must have known what was down there and what would happen. That it couldn't have been just for coin. Hawke was looking for that idol...to...apparently poison Meredith...and stuff.

Yeah, you know, I wish I had a video of just Cassandra's parts, all spliced together so I could watch them and try and get a self-consistent picture of what it is that Cassandra really thought before talking to Varric. You just get weird little comments like that, here and there.

On the idol... maybe Cassandra was just spitballing? She's convinced that Hawke must have had a plan, so assumes this idol must have been part of it?? Altho, you say she mentions the idol before Varric does...? /head hurts

Oh. no Cass didn't mention the idol as far as I remember. Just that Hawke must have known what was down there and that's why Hawke went. The only thing down there was the idol. I mean, that had impact.

And Varric says no...or Hawke wouldn't have brought their sibling, etc.

You know, of course, what this really sounds like... an ignominious codex entry that depends upon your Hawke outcome. :crying:*sniff*sniff* Thank the Maker we've already seen GE in the recording booth...

You know, if the Templars were the ones holding Cullen, idk how much access Cass would really be granted to him.

The Seekers and Templars don't seem to be on good standing by then. If ever really.

Or Cullen just may be a cameo. *sniff!* Although, I don't think so....just wish I knew. One way or the other.

And if he is a companion, we might just meet him looking after the Divine and he says ,"hey, need sum help?" And the whole Kirkwall incident is not factored into anything.

It's a great headcanon, tho.

It makes you wonder exactly what rumours had been flying around to make Cassandra think that Hawke had orchestrated the whole thing in the first place.

So I guess that means she knew about the idol/red lyrium and what it done to Meredith, but at that point still believed that Hawke 'n' co had planned to use it to poison Meredith, with the aid of Cullen who perhaps she thought was in cahoots with them?

Lol, you never know, maybe after that interrogation Cassandra rushed off to save Cullen from the chopping block. If you think about it, since Hawke 'n' co disappeared for a while (in pro-mage) or eventually parted ways (pro-templar) the easiest person to access and potentially punish is Cullen since in theory he'd be the easiest to track down out of all of them.

Can you guys remember what the nexus golem's prophecies were? Someone mentioned it on my videos comments but I can't recall ever hearing/witnessing any.

Wait, now I'm confused... isn't raps saying that Cass *didn't* know about the idol before Varric told her?

I guess there are a series of things he can say. The one I think folks think might refer to Sandal's prophecy is: "We were once more than we are."

Exactly. Had he shown up in DA2 being completely fine and dandy then it would be a sign of crap writing. There's a good reason why the poor guy is messed up.

Yeah and that's my whole point. Cullen is SUCH a good example of a well-written character. In real life, would you like being around this person? (Personally, I do think I would be friends with him. I am friends with people who have wildly different political beliefs than I do, and Cullen isn't even a radical. Plus he's a genuinely nice guy.) Maybe not. But that doesn't mean he isn't well-written.

Also, running out shouting that he's evil and comparing him to Hitler doesn't make me even want to engage with you on the topic. You're an idiot. I'd rather talk politics with my cat.

Cullen's comments toward the Qunari or other religions might bother me a bit too much for us to really be friends. I like his character and I could see us sharing a few commonalities,  but irl I might avoid him lol.

The Stone...didn't Legacy have mention of sum Stone? Other than dwarven belief abt the Stone being where their dead ones go.

The Gauntlet..like the Gauntlet challenge in DAO for the Urn?

Do you think it's sumthing to do w/dwarves? The golem;Stone;Shaperate;even Sandal. And that ancient Thaig that Bartrand didn't recognize as dwarven, but who knows?

Maybe it was dwarven, but just before the paragons and all that. They existed long before the first blight.

I had to hop in here after reading the Cullen thread (and adding my 2 cents, poorly heh) to say I admire your patients dannyboy; I would have already flung around cuss words at that guy.

Reading all of those Cullen threads reminds me of the countless times I ventured in threads trying to defend Kaidan, but it's pointless, if someone wants to hate a character than you can't change their minds, no matter how hard you try and how many good points you make.

I'm surprisingly tame today lol, but I think that's because nobody is REALLY attacking anyone whether that be a dev, one of us or a irl group.  We were, at least at the time having a nice civil discussion. That changed it seems, but I'm content to leave the issue alone. I think I've said my piece and as juvenile as this sounds....

HIS COMMENTS GOT BLOCKED SO I WON NEENER NEENER.

Ehem...Lola knows I was holding that in. She's seen me go off on a person on deviant art...not my best moments. Lol

Lola, I just went to the DA wiki. There may be variations, tho. Idk. If there are variations on those quotes depending on an import, then idk how significant they would be.

Which would be too bad. I really enjoy dissecting prophecies and such. Like the whole Sandal thing. I was riveted when Sandal went on his tangent.

Sooo, was Flemeth checking up on Hawke? That's why Sandal saw her laughing. I mean, in an ethereal way Flemeth was there at the Hawke estate.

Does that part come after we return the amulet? I think so. If so, the question would be, why is Flemeth skulking around the Hawke estate?

I always get it after Hawke's mother dies, so for a long time I thought she was haunting the place!
