That thread was actually pretty good, until it wasn't. heh heh.

If Cullen is arrested and questioned, maybe just detained, for anything, I think it would be for letting the ppl that blew up the Chantry walk out.

If Cullen had detained Hawke and co in the first place, Cass wouldn't have to be running all over Thedas to find them.

The standing up to Meredith I can see being explained. It was quite the spectacle. But then letting Hawke leave is just...really?

I think he and the others were in shock for a bit. Good thing Hawke high tailed it out.

Although, now that I think abt it, Cullen just might have been responding to Hawke's latest elevation in status.

Before Hawke was the most influential person in Kirkwall except for Meredith. Now w/out Meredith Hawke would technically be the most influential person and maybe even Viscount.

So, I guess Cullen wouldn't be arresting the Viscount....I don't think. (Meredith had no qualms abt it:/)

R2, Cass doesn't say "idol", per se, but I think that's what she's referring to in that line.

It would have been a spoiler for her to mention the idol at that point.

See that's why I feel like he would've at least got questioned about the whole fiasco. Regardless of Hawke's status he still let Anders go (if you didn't kill him) OR failed to capture him for 7 years, resulting in the Chantry blowing up anyway, so I'm sure he would've got in the ****e for that on its own.

I'll have to go track those down and listen to them again. It seems pretty fishy that she'd know about the idol but still think it was all Hawke's fault. Then again... maybe the idol was known, because of Bartrand, but it wasn't known that Meredith had it and went cray cray...? Of course, it's now a matter of history that Hawke discovered red lyrium, so maybe everybody knows that now.

She might be hoping for a clear target for her wrath. She seems like a black and white kind of gal, but is ultimately looking for a solution to the problem and wants to get that right.

But then why is Cass so surprised that Meredith was "to blame"? I mean... if the templars, i.e. the Seekers, have records that say Meredith had the idol... I guess they may just not have written down the fact that it drove her insane...? Just that she had it?

That would be awesome. What I was suggesting is that it might need one of your ironic screens in between to explain where we're at in the story. I don't even remember how often you see Cass... is it just at the beginning/ends of the acts?

And also...even if they knew that Meredith went crazy from the idol, and her own personal proclivities, it seems they still thought that the idol was planted w/Meredith for that purpose.

Hawke knew the affects of the idol. Went to get it. And surreptitiously made sure Meredith got it. Muahaha, and all that.

Of course it's hooey, but most conspiracy theories are. And most have a tendency to think better of their own ppl. So, maybe they just don't wanna believe someone as reliable to the order could do something so stupid.

Iirc, Meredith also did the Amell fam wrong in the past in Kirkwall. I may have to find that bit....

Yes. Plus the DLC and once during Varric's personal quest during Act 2 I believe.

nvm abt the Meredith vs amell bit. I got that wrong. Meredith just appointed Viscount Dumar, or lobbied for him to be Viscount.

After Threnhold had been arrested by Meredith for trying to oust the Templars and hanging a knight commander.

The Amell Family was to be the new rulers until Revka had a mage child. Then of course everything went to hell for the Amells. And that was when Meredith lobbied to appt Dumar.
