Wow, Mayorin, thanks for that news. Excellent!! We keep imagining the "angsty" options for him in the future, so nice that Gaider agrees -- and thinks Cullen has some sort of future. At the very least he didn't say, "OH, I don't agree that Cullen is reasonable... He'll always be creepy to me." LOL 

Still... with how active this thread is, and the past Cullen threads, and other places like tumblr, how could he not know about the Cullen love? /facepalm

OK, back to girly Templars, heh heh. I was wracking my brain about when the scene was where all the Templars were suddenly women, and altho I had thought it was after Meredith dies apparently it's when Cullen confronts Meredith. So, meet Cullen and his harem:

Oooh, so much good stuff in that Gaider chat. Thanks again, Mayorin.

Also, apparently if you want the art department to create attractive
characters, DO NOT specify that they are love interests and should be
attractive.  Apparently the first render of Carth Onasi looked like Burt
Reynolds.  If you don’t specify, the characters will come out
attractive (which is how we got Cullen, he said, lol Gaider thinks
Cullen is attractive, WE DO TOO).  Also apparently telling them you want
the character “clean cut” will also make them turn out well.

I wonder if one of the reasons they took the Templar chasing sub-plot out was so people wouldn't have an obvious reason to take Bethany to the Deep Roads?

You'd hardly leave her behind if the danger of the Templars had been emphasised (well I wouldn't). Pity though it would have gone a long way to get rid of my "are you people just stupid!?" from the first Act ;-)

I lol'd when I read the part about ugly love interests. Do their artists do that on purpose? Then I'm glad Cullen, Varric and Carver are not LI And squee, I will be hoping for more angsty templar. When the writer says "angst" I hear "a love story"

@Gala, yeah, it makes me wonder if trying to "force" a character to be good looking results in Alistair and Zevran.

@Avilia, good point about Beth & the Deep Roads. It would have been nice to have felt a certain sense of danger in Act 1... but it still wouldn't have helped much with the fact that you have to "hide" your magic from Cullen during Enemies Among Us. Or the fact that every apostate in Kirkwall is basically wearing a "Yoo hoo, I'm a mage!" sign by wearing robes and a big ole staff on their backs. LOL

I also think they cut that so we don't always bring Beth to the DR

Yes the angst must be balanced. Medium rare angst perhaps? I agree with you rak too much and I start polishing the murder knife.

Cullen's angst might be more internalised - as DG says (and we've discussed previously) he's seen the worst of both sides. So we might not see one eyed support of either. I wonder, if he has lost faith in the Templars as an order, whether he'd have lost faith in the Chantry as well?

I guess with him, he'll have major trust issues & we'll need to beak down his walls. I hope it's not like a Fenris repeat with the humping & dumping, though.

I'd like to see it more like Alistair's arc - have to work on approval first. (Or the other thing that I can't remember the name of - oh! Rivalry). Build it up over the course of the game and get the payoff towards the end.

^ yes, I really like the way Alistair played out. You had to work at it, if you're a person who likes sad & tragic, that's there for you, if you like happy, you can sort of get that too.

Agree, it would be be nice to see a slightly different romance progression. Altho, Rak, I'm cracking up at the humping & dumping. I've never heard that one!

I totally see the trust issues, that he doesn't know who to trust if he can no longer rely on the Order and/or the Chantry for his moral center. So, instead of an "I'm not worthy of love" kind of Twilight vibe, as per DG's description of Fenris and Anders, the challenge could be getting close enough to him for him to trust you.

His quest could be finding his faith again, either in himself or with Order/Chantry. Then, like Avilia suggests, you get your pay off once he's less broken... and then... lots of fun post-bedroom banter like we've previously generated. Heh heh.

This! When I first read that Gaider quote I thought, "Oh, God. They're going to make me kill him, aren't they?" I'm still not so sure they aren't. After the character progression (if you can call it that) of Anders from DAA to DA2 I just... I don't know.

I changed his eyes to green, I think I changed his stubble to a softer color, I'm not sure if I changed his hair color. I think that's it.

OH man, I finally figured it out... he's wearing undereye concealer! His circles look like they're gone! And, it makes him look like ten years younger, like DA2!Cullen, minus the torture. Or is that just my screen and the lighting...?

I don't think I changed his skin at all. Maybe it's the lighting in that area.

I figured it out - I used one of dracomies(sp?) textures for his skin, and I did lighted his hair a little.

(and yes, there is something about those Chantry Boys)
