So this is off topic, but I really have to share. Very rarely in life do I cry...I mean it's RARE.
But I've been watching this guy on youtube now for just over a year...he has vids on how to draw using photoshop and flash...anyways, he did a 'draw my life video'...damn it I cried.!!
Here's the link to the vid
Why am I sharing this? Well for one thing, I kept thinking he reminds me of someone...the low and behold in the comments someone points it out
They ask him if he'd ever played Dragon Age cause he sounds and looks like Alistair, and by gosh now that it has been pointed out I have to agree!
Anyways, for those of my friends here who draw you should check it out, all his stuff really helps. For those of you who don't, the video is really good and his vidz are usually pretty entertaining

I mean, I adore Varric and as much as I'd like him to be a romance option I honestly don't feel that he should be.
If he was ever going to be one then it should've been when they were working on DA2, but they didn't and they decided to do the whole Bianca thing, which we recently discovered in the comics was named after his deceased girlfriend who he promised on her death bed that he would love no other. So, to cheapen that storyline by making him romantically available to the Inquisitor would, in my opinion, be a big mistake and ruin his story arc. DG even went on and on about how Varric's heart only belongs to Bianca, and even drunkenly ranted on Tumblr about how we shouldn't fan rage or demand to romance non-romanceable companions.
It's a new game, it's time to give other characters a chance.
EDIT
OH did you guys see this? Cullen makes an appearance!

That was very touching. And after he said he had a low self esteem I went looking for a video that he showed his face in and he's not even bad looking, he's actually handsome in my opinion^_^ . But it was probably more towards his weight but even if he was chubby.. I would bang.VampOrchid wrote...

LOL, but he's Australian and Alistair's VO is English. I'm afraid I really don't hear it. I don't really see the likeness to him either, but he does have Cullen's hair... kinda (in one of his videos), and he is very hot.
*Edit* Ok, he does kinda form his sentences in a similar way to Alistair... I've watched the whole thing now I can sorta see how people have drawn comparisons between the pair of them.
That was a sad video though, those draw my life things are always eye opening because you just assume that these YouTubers have always been super confident or popular etc and then it turns out that they actually had some pretty crappy experiences. I watched Markiplier's one recently and that was really sad too.

Well and the epilogues are "hearsay" according to DG. This one in particular is basically retconned.Chiantirose1982 wrote...
Okay, now I finally understand why people argue that Cullen killed many Mages ... I never got this epilogue. I thought they always referred to him killing Mages in the end of DA2, when fighting with Meredith.

Okay yeah that makes sense since in codex it says that Greagoir transfered him to Kirkwall because he thought it's not a good idea for him to watch over the people that tormented him. So that kind of doesn't work with the whole drunk mad man killing mages picture.
Ugh, now I want him even more in the next game, this guy needs some set in stone canon story.

See, that's the thing, we don't entirely know if his epilogues were reconned (in regards to killing the mages) or if he still did go a little loopy, kill or seriously injured a couple of mages and then got sent to Greenfell to recover, then eventually moved onto Kirkwall. My guess is that they completely retconned it since we know he didn't become a wandering madman and presumably Greagoir wouldn't have sent him to Kirkwall to work for Meredith if he really had killed a bunch of mages. Greagoir was a bit of a cold bastard, but he wasn't a zealot so I don't think he would've allowed a dangerous man to continue to serve within the Order.
Of course, when people argue about Cullen killing many mages they're also refering to DA2. Their argument is that on their way back over to the Gallows Meredith, Cullen 'n' co would've had to fight and kill many mages since there were so many of them fighting in the streets, also Meredith had already called the rite of annulment, but Cullen didn't say a word until the last minute (after the Orsino-monster fight) so prior to that he was "happy" to kill any who stood in their way. Based on that, they consider Cullen to be no better than Meredith because he could've/should've stood up to Meredith long before they got to the Gallows.
To be fair, it's a valid argument. However, people forget that it wouldn't make a story if he had stood against her from the moment that Chantry blew up, or at the beginning of Act 3 when he started to have doubts. The devs/writers needed/wanted something dramatic to happen, they wanted to give us a big boss battle and thus those final scenes had to play out accordingly. Could it have been depicted better? Sure, but the game only had a years production put into it, so they can't expect the story/writing/etc to be a masterpiece. Not to mention that Cullen went through a terrible ordeal in the Ferelden Circle of Magi, and clearly had a hard time working in the Gallows, of course he's gonna be conflicted when he's seen and experienced the worst in both mages and templars, he's essentially grown up within the Order, it's his work, his home, his life and pretty much all he's ever known, so it's going to be hard coming to terms with the fact that his whole life and belief system is fundamentally flawed and corrupt.
I guess on a smaller scale you could kinda compare it to spending your whole life within a small community/group full of people that you always presumed were good, kind and trusting etc. Gradually over time you start to notice little things that you're not entirely comfortable with, however you all share the same beliefs (be it religious or other) and you've spent your life/a long period of time with said people, so you put your concerns to the back of your mind because they're your friends/family/community and you know no other way of life. You feel bad for even questioning their motives because they helped you/saved you during a difficult period of your life. Then one day you discover that one of the more important members of the group/community has been doing a lot of bad/shady/illegal things and that a large section of the community (including your family/friends/co workers) have done some really bad things and/or have some very strong racist/sexist/homophobic/etc/*delete as appropriate* beliefs and opinions that you find disgusting and don't agree with. That's when you finally realise that your fears were correct and that you'd spent your life being a part of something that may have once been good/well meaning, but over time has become corrupt and bad. - Coming to terms with something like that, and then finally finding the strength to break away and/or stand against those in the wrong would be difficult and painful for anyone.

It's okay, I found it quite interesting to read. I agree completely with what you said and I never thought that Cullen was as bad as other people thought. I just never got that epilogue, so I never understood the whole arguement that he was a murderer/extremist etc.
But now I do ... so yay!

How do you know he was sent to Greenfell? I never heard/seen that anywhere either.
Do you remember those two b!tchy apprentices in the mage origin talking about how Cullen was practically gushing (hur hur) over how quick our female Amell/Solona's harrowing was? Well, in the Witch Hunt DLC they appear in it again, this time gossiping/b!tching about our return and how it was a pity Cullen wasn't around because he'd been sent to Greenfell to recover.
Here's a clip of it:

I also like the idea that it was a bit of jealousy from those two apprentices. I kinda hope they show up in DAI if Cullen is a companion/LI so that he and my Inquisitor can be like "up yours, b!tches!"

If you use an Amell import for Witch Hunt, mages at the Tower gossip about how he's been sent there to level out. The DLC also mentions Kirkwall so presumably they were developing DA2 at that point and smoothing over the story of what happened to Cullen after Broken Circle.Chiantirose1982 wrote...
