Also an OT question. Are we ever told what Malcolm and Leandra did to support themselves in Lothering? I can't find anything that mentions it.

I, too, want to see the default protag, especially the male, because I want to get an idea of what I'll be able to do in CC. Female, too, but I probably won't make a fem until the 3-4 playthrough.

So... By the above... Does that imply that Cullen's a knight in not so shining armor?
Precisely, a Knight in shining armor would imply that he was fairy tale perfect... which he isn't. And that's why I like him!

Yeah, he is. He looks a lot younger in that picture than he did on stage at E3.
Agreed about the default protagonist. Seeing either (but preferably both) will give us some idea of what the CC can do. We got a rough idea from the characters shown in the trailer, but I find I'm able to better prepare myself for the game and kinda pre-bond with it when I finally get to see the defaults, learn a little about his/her background(s) and (hopefully) hear their voices.
Plus, once we see him/her/both then it makes the game feel more personal because we've finally caught a glimpse at the person we'll be playing and replaying as for the next few years until the next game gets released. I mean, it's all well and good seeing a trailer and knowing the main plot, but it doesn't begin to feel "real" (story wise) until the protagonist's details come out.

Yep. I mean, this isn't like Skyrim, where you see the game being played, and you're like, Ohh, gimme! *grabby hands* We KNOW what Thedas looks like; even if you render it really pretty in your brand new engine, it's still not what we're REALLY looking for. We want the story, man! The people, the characters. Who we'll be playing as, etc.

Especially now that the protagonist is fully voiced, he/she is a character and personality in their own right and that's exciting.
I just really hope I like the female protagonist's voice this time round, I literally can't listen to female Hawke because her voice sounds like the pretentious/posh "telephone voice" that I put on when working, meeting posh/rich people, or doing interviews LOL!

Maybe it's because you resisted Fenris.

No kidding. This is honestly the 3rd game in a row where I've told myself, "Ok, this playthrough we are NOT romancing Fenris..."
Maybe I should just accept this as a sign that Sebastian and my Fem!Hawkes are not meant to be.

You can fix it...it's a major pain...but you can fix it...the cpu and gpu is over heating because the heat sinks have melted the thermal paste off of the units. It's a temporary fix until you can get a new xbox or ps3

I think they may be speaking in cosmic time when they say "soon"... as in "Soon, the sun will burn out" or "Soon, we will populate Mars and terraform it into a 2nd Earth".LolaLei wrote...
Yeah "soon" is the annoying part. I mean, if they're doing a proper info reveal at one of the conventions then they might as well just tell us that, it's not like we need any other details beyond "yes, we will show/tell you more at *insert convention*". If not, then should probably stop saying "soon" or "the very near future" if they aren't 100% sure about when they actually plan to tell us.

I'm already talking to a repair guy in my area. Until today I never had any interest in getting a next-gen console, but now I might have to go for it. Even if I repair my current 360 there is no way it would survive until Fall '14 with how many hours I put on it.
I really, really need Bioware to tell us more about how we are going to import our DA2 saves into Inquisition. It is now vitally important to me.

Danny boy 7- You know… in regards to the whole Meredith thing I couldn’t tell you what it would do to his recovery. It could really go either way. He may feel exceptionally betrayed by her, or slowly watching her go insane sort of prepared him for the situation. It wasn’t exactly sudden. He probably acclimated to the idea of her going nuts, like the frog in boiling water experiment! The other aspect of that situation was when Anders pulled his…uh, magic trick lol. So that alone may have been enough to reinforce his feelings about mages and look over the templar thing. I have seen some crazy stuff… one of which is that often times people (not just people suffering from PTSD) are able to see things with blinders on. If something appalling happens that goes along with a preconceived notion they have, it will reinforce their belief about a group of people. Humans are more than willing to take it and run with it. Alternatively they can also completely ignore something that contradicts what they believe in. This is actually seen a lot in politics. So Cullen may be shocked by the cruelties of the other templars but at the same time he may subconsciously block it out, or personally justifying not taking action.
So in regards to the rebel templar thing, I just used that as an example I don’t have any idea if bioware would take that route or not. I could totally see him belonging to them though, because he may be one of the members that makes an endeavor to get other templars be less vindictive or conversely, slowly pull them back into the Chantry fold. I think you are totally right Chiantirose1982…It would be surprising if he wasn’t in trouble. I can’t imagine that Chantry will be keen to divulge that one of their Commanders went insane and was a titanic part of the problem. It would be way easier to blame an upstart and his ragtag band of apostates, elves, dwarf (singular lol!) and heathens. Even just to save public face. Seeing as they can’t find said upstart, the guy that let him/her get away sounds like a good place to start extracting teeth. So yeah, they would irrefutably need a scapegoat or whipping boy. Poor Cullen…sometimes it rains but in Cullen’s case it always seems to pour lol.
Dirgegun- I would absolutely love for them to give Cullen a complete finished story. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Anyway I am with you 100% about how having a support group or friends who care for you can help speed along recovery. I am also really glad you talked about the “Love as a cure” thing. Love is an exceptional and powerful weapon in the healing tool shed lol However; the sentiment that a person can fix or mend someone who is hurting with their love is completely erroneous. As you mentioned love totally helps the recovery process along, but no matter how much you love another person or are there for them, you can never completely take away another person’s pain. To hope or expect for that to happen can lead to really heartbreaking situations… or losing money to those B****** Psychologists! Lol ok but seriously and less self-deprecatingly, Motomotogirl mentioned something great about how with Fenris she rarely romanced him with a mage and instead tried to slowly get the character adjusted to the concept that not all mages are evil. I think that was a really interesting way of looking at the situation. Fenris CAN romance a mage and that can help him heal, but he can also heal by being romanced with a different class. So I think that either way if you romance Cullen as a mage or other nefarious hero I would like to see him go through some healing but in a pragmatic way. So like you and R2Muse and Lolalei said, not necessarily flowers and wedding bells and 16 children... but maybe something hopeful. I will confess that part of me also wants to see how different the romance plays out, without it being more or less the same thing.

LolaLei- I did actually forget an additional symptom being that he has those dark circles under his eyes. This can be caused from lack of sleep (which was sort of covered in the nightmare thing), but it can also just be from having PTSD even if an individual does get adequate sleep. There is a specific medical term for it but I can’t think of it now, but rest assured at a time it is completely inconsequential it will come to me! Oh, and several medications for people suffering with PTSD have the dark circles as a side effect but I seriously doubt he is on any meds lol.
Anyway with 1, 2, 3 I always got the impression that he had become more “creepy” after what had happened. What with Gregoir more or less sending him away and one of the mages saying “I’m just glad he is gone. He was so twitchy…and that intense stare? Creepy.” While walking around in Origins I got the impression that some of the mages thought it was cute that he was in love with her originally, but after the events Cullen had sort of gone a little sideways and the mages of the tower didn’t like him as much, or at least those girls were B****y. I mean, I can’t exactly blame them though, because he did sort of want to exterminate a large portion of them. But the intense stare thing sort of indicated to me that he was having trouble.
As far as him mentioning guilt with the male mage…I never played the male mage origin : / So I don’t really know. I think he might continue to say something along the lines of “And to think I thought we were too hard on you” still anyway. So the feelings of guilt for having private feelings against the order/chantry/maker would still cause him to feel like he had somehow failed or deserved what had happened.
You made an interesting point about how he grew up in the order so that lifestyle may be all he knows. I would imagine if he leaves it and joins your party that it would be a relatively difficult transition for him. Even soldiers who have only been in the military a few years often come back to civilian life with great difficulty. To take someone who had spent so much of his life in an order bound by rules and restrictions and let him sort of have free will would be very challenging. Heck, it may even be detrimental to his recovery, by making him question his purpose or having trouble adjusting to a life that doesn’t have the same day to day consistencies. Or he may do fine lol.
Ok so in regards to the part of your post where you talk about how he may realize that power is down to the individual and the part about how he can learn to trust people case by case. So there are two trains of thought I have on this. This first is he may realize this IF he is as intelligent or introspective as we like to give him credit being lol. But he may not be. I do however feel like he has great potential to reach this conclusion because he does potentially side with someone he knows is a mage against Meredith. Meaning that he chose Hawke over his commander despite her being a Templar and his/her being a mage. He may also just see Hawke as an anomaly or fluke in the system or the lesser of two evils.

To be honest, I'll bet the creepy comment was just an homage to all the creepy talk from DG and Sheryl Chee about him after DA:O came out. Those two mages have been talking smack about Cullen for a while at that point. LOL But it's interesting that it would also fit with the symptoms of PTSD.Anyway with 1, 2, 3 I always got the impression that he had become more “creepy” after what had happened. What with Gregoir more or less sending him away and one of the mages saying “I’m just glad he is gone. He was so twitchy…and that intense stare? Creepy.”
The dark circles I've always figured were a sign of Cullen being "haunted" by his experiences, either strictly through interrupted sleep or just an outward sign of his torment. We've also had discussions about whether they're from the lyrium, since they mirror Sampson's. But Sampson's are presumably from his interrupted lyrium supply. My own feeling is that the game engine has limited ways to show various types of suffering, so the purple circles could mean several things depending on the character that has them.
