I'm just trying to figure out the physics of what I'm seeing. Did all that crap come out of the drains? Or is it a flood way and that stuff is piled up against the drains, because it couldn't get through?

It sure does look like it came OUT of the drains. But that canoe has the look of backwash from a flood, like it was pushed up from the outside and just beached when the water receded.

Those are sewer gates, which catch all of the leaves and dead grass that wind up in the storm drains.
