- opt for the 2 straight/2 gay/2 bi approach
- give in to the demands of players who rage at the idea of their snookums ogling dudes/chicks in somebody else's game
- make Dorian and Vivienne the only gay options

That still leaves a bi option to enjoy.

But yeah, what we know of Vivienne and Dorian isn't setting my world on fire, either.

They did that with DA2, as well. The first characters they introduced were Varric and the two female LIs. The male LIs were the very last characters introduced, and Anders wasn't announced until something like two days before the pre-order deadline. The fact that they chose to announce Varric and two females first this time too does not bode well.

I just hope that this time around, if you meet your LI's same-as-themselves-gendered ex or fling, they don't tell you about it if you're also that gender but neglect to mention it if you're not.

Either homosexuality is something people have some issues with in Thedas, or it's not. There's no reason you'd talk about your ex with one partner but not the other if they were the "wrong" gender. I find that weird!

But I hope the spread is awesome for everyone and that your mind is blown away by romances, mmg.

@berelinde You know I was so sure that Sera would be a romance. Maybe she doesn't fit into the story anymore? Or maybe they felt her character was to similar to Varric so they got him instead?

Liara (female-ish non-gendered alien, bi)
Miranda (female, straight)
Jack (female, straight)
Tali (female, straight)
Diana Allers (female, bi)
Samantha Traynor (female, lesbian)

Kaidan (male, previously "straight", now bi)
Garrus (male, straight)
Steve Cortez (male, gay)

You can also continue a sort of long-distance relationship with Thane from ME2, who was a straight male.

Ashley, Miranda, Jack, Kaidan, Garrus, Tali, Traynor, Cortez, Liara, I guess Allers, Thane...maybe? Along with dozens of flings in the Citadel DLC

R2M, romancing non-party members worked because, like in DA2, you really couldn't have any meaningful conversations away from your home base (the Normandy) anyway -- so having some of the LI's hang out there and not go out and shoot things with you still felt pretty normal. You'd catch up on news and do the "getting to know you" dialogue after each major mission the same as with anyone else. The characters still got to progress (well, with the exception of Allers) in a really meaningful way.

Even people that went out on missions with you didn't say much when they did, and none of it was flirtatious or meaningful unless you were on their personal quest.

It's a lot like my relationship with Merrill -- we're friends, and we talk at her house, but I never take her anywhere with me. ;D

And also hopefully with more content than in DAII. They said there was just as much, but if that's true I could still use some more. With all my companions.


Come to think of it, I have that kind of non-party-member relationship with a lot of my DA companions. Even my favorite ones.

In DA:O I really only took out Alistair, Wynne, and then rotated between Leliana/Morrigan (for the pew pew).

In DAII I really only took out Varric, Isabela, Aveline, Anders, and Sebastian.



So anyway... I think that's what Scribe Girl is likely to be in DA:I. Traynor in ME3 was kind of your personal assistant and debriefed with you after all your missions, while taking care of your messages and some quest info (like Bodahn in DAII)

So wow ME3 was mostly female? And mostly single sex? Huh. Everything I know about ME is basically from tumblr, so I didn't realize Thane was ME2 only.

I don't know if I'd mind that all that much, if the interaction were rich and varied enough. If the character got as much face time as the teammate NPCs, it might be OK. Not as good as being in the party, but better than nothing.

@brush That's what I've been thinking in regards to Scribe Girl. She'll be Traynor, but maybe a bit more like Varel.

@R2 yeah it leaned heavily in favor of straight men, unfortunately. I also don't know why, but the romances I want....almost always restricted to me...sniff. Samara, Aveline, Traynor, Kasumi....Iona beyond our fling.

@berelinde, I think that's safe to say for all interactions. I'd rather have no romance than a shallow underdeveloped one. Or worse...the flings from Citadel.

Yeah, I didn't realize until looking at the bottom line how much women (especially straight or lesbian women) got a raw deal on options.

But the options we did get were pretty amazing, so kudos to them for pulling it off regardless.

Ah ****, I didn't get the sh!tty job. There were 3 positions available and they all went to people who had previous experience working in universities (the job I applied for was in a uni). Well... ****, it's Macdonalds flipping burgers for me then. Deep joy.

The only thing that I worry about Cullen in particular is either he wont be romance-able at all OR he will be but he would have a stupid tragic death just to spite the Cullen fans....

I may be happy that his a companion but I kinda have a gut feeling that something bad is gonna happen to him...

Aww i'm sorry to hear that Lola, but dont let yourself down,  the key is to keep looking  if it doesnt work out in one place it may work out in another , and you can do a hell of alot better then McDonalds;)

Aw, Lola, that sucks. It's a sad, sad world, but the truth is that qualified people can't get jobs in their field because overqualified people are fighting in the streets over them. Some of the fast food places in my part of the US require a college degree and customer service experience... to flip burgers. For minimum wage. And people are competing for the jobs!

I hope something even better comes through for you really, really soon.

Agreed, I will be so heart broken. I'm also worried about the whole mage romance with Cullen thing since I will probably be playing as a human mage for my first play through. I can only hope for an happy ending..
