Maybe so they can keep that mysterious allure as to who exactly this character is. It for sure seems like the same guy in each shot, and from the trailer. I just remember in the video when they were talking about this opposing individual we will be encountering early on, they cut to him in the trailer. 

You mean as a potential "Agent of Chaos"? Like he is the Loghain that causes the issues but isn't the big bad?

Yea. I have a theory that the Qunari are going to be up to something, either taking advantage of the chaos or adding to it. So a massive, possibly rogue, Qunari would seem like a good foil for our PC to have to fight against.

Well a week ago I would have said that it's unlikely since MLaidlaw said they wouldn't this time around, but mounts and races were out of the realm of possibility back then to so....eh maybe.

You know the more I think about it the more I feel like their is some junior marketing guy who was let go from BioWare and so decided to spill the beans with the survey leak, but due to lack of access or lack of time was only able to get out that small-ish bit of info that was by then out of date.

Something tells me that Vivienne and Varric were late additions or that Varric was going through an image change and Vivienne hadn't yet had hers finalized so the leaker didn't get to use them.

Or Vivienne and Varric were done deals and so they didn't need feedback on them...

Varric doesn't really need any description anyway, since we know what he's like and so would the people doing the survey if they played the game. Plus, they obviously didn't list everyone for a reason.

Ooh...what do you thinkCassandra/Varric/Vivienne's recruitement scene will be like?

The problem with demos is that some little bugger always hacks the files and releases spoilers everywhere. But I'm personally not keen on demos because they usually include the opening scene, which I liked to keep as a surprise, but my lack of willpower always makes me end up playing them regardless, LOL.

Man, I haven't the faintest! I guess it just really depends on how our PC starts out w/ this whole "lone survivor" thing. I imagine we'll encounter Cass and Varric together, since they've been traveling as a pair for some reason. Maybe they come across us early on and aid us to better health. I can't imagine we'll survive the Fade tear w/out any injuries.

Man, I haven't the faintest! I guess it just really depends on how our PC starts out w/ this whole "lone survivor" thing. Perhaps they'll be the two that take over from our red shirt temp companions that always get killed. 

"Oh no *temp character 1" and "temp character 2" are dead!" *Cue Varric & Cassandra appearing out of nowhere to aid the protagonist*

There's an engine change. Odds are good that the console commands that enabled people to obtain spoilers aren't going to work. Eventually somebody will figure out how to use the dev console, but I don't think it's going to be instantaneous.

Those console commands have been super handy for recording all Cullen's dialogue and scenes in DA2.

Yes, that's what I mean. Something happens to cause the veil rip and everyone dies except our protagonist. Varric and Cassandra travel together (looking for Hawke?) and find us. Maybe we'll lose our memory, maybe we were someone important? kinda like KotoR-ish

No, this happens at the very beginning of the game. Some "event" rips the Veil and the only survivor is us. Then we proceed to fix the rip and save the world.

I think my inner blonde will come out on this one but if we are the only survivor then how come we get to have companions?

The same way we did in DA:O and DA2. We start off with temporary companions and then they die and are replaced with the proper ones.

This is why I don't think we'll have companions in the beginning, maybe just redshirts, because they'll die anyway. After the rip, that's when we get the "real" companions

I think only the region our character happens to be in is utterly destroyed to the point everyone is dead, not all of Thedas.

Yea, it just seems like an isolated location where the tear happens, and the whole town (probably our hometown) gets decimated. Maybe it's the dozens of bodies that Varric comes across in that trailer, and then he hears a shuffling as the lone survivor (us) makes themselves known. Cue Varric and Cass dashing in for the rescue.
